  • Proof Positive that Some People Really DO Have More Dollars than Working Brain Cells

Here’s a nice paperclip – well, actually a money clip that’s styled to look like a paper clip.

It was originally sold for $185 at Barney’s in NYC. But they apparently have it on sale now – current price is “only” $150! No word on whether shipping and handling is extra.

If you think I’m joking . . . read this – then read this.

Yep – that’s $150 for a paperclip, albeit a large one (about 2 1/2 in long by a bit over 3/4 in wide) in sterling silver. But hey – it’s a genuine Prada!

    Sheesh.

If you actually bought one of those, I’d like to talk to you. I have this bridge in NYC for sale, and I can make you a helluva deal . . . .

  • Put Up Or Shut Up

Regarding James Clapper’s claim of Russian interference in the US elections last fall:  http://thehill.com/homenews/news/335575-clapper-aggressiveness-of-russian-interference-in-election-unprecedented

Mr. Clapper makes avowed statements that RT, a Kremlin-based media outlet, was among those organizations ‘hacking’ the elections. He does everything but pound his shoe on the table, like Nikita Krushchev did on his visit to the UN.

To quote him: Clapper noted that the Russians have long tried to interfere in presidential elections, but characterized their 2016 efforts as the most aggressive and direct.

“There’s been a long history of … interference, going back to the Soviet era, in our elections,” Clapper said. “But never ever has there been a case of the aggressiveness and the direct actions that the Russians took and their conduct of a multifaceted campaign to interfere with our election.” – per the article.

Okay, fine. I want to see documentation.  Go ahead and talk about it, Jimmy, but until or unless you produce actual documents that prove your case, you are just blowing smoke out of your ass.  If you’re talking about it publicly, especially to the media’s most notorious fake news outlet CNN, then not one bit of it is classified.

NONE OF IT, CLAPPER   NONE OF IT.

Cough up the proof, verified proof. or shut your mouth. If you don’t, you’re just a sore loser and nothing else.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP, CLAPPER.

  • HuffPo Gets Punked

    Oh, this is rich.

I know few regular TAH readers are HuffPo fans. Well, recently they showed their “mad journalistic skilz”.

Seems that HuffPo South Africa published – then retracted – some obvious bullsh!t masquerading as an op/ed piece. It seems that someone purporting to be a feminist from South Africa wrote a piece advocating that voting rights be withheld from white males to “wrestle control of the world back from white males”. The restriction wouldn’t be permanent – only “for 20 years (just less than a generation)”.

The claimed “author” was, of course, fake.  And the person who actually wrote the ridiculous trollbait HuffPo swallowed apparently did it to prove a point:  that the HuffPo would publish anything that fit their editorial worldview, regardless of truth or suitability.  Seems as if the article didn’t even meet HuffPo’s own guidelines for publication.

Oh, did I mention that the HuffPo went so far as to post an article defending the obvious bullsh!t before realizing it was bullsh!t?  They were forced afterwards not only to run a retraction, but to explicitly state that they were in favor of universal suffrage.

Heat Street has an article giving more details. It’s a hoot.

“Mad journalistic skilz”, indeed. “Gullible morons” is more accurate.

But hey, we’re talking the HuffPo. We should expect no less!

  • Yes, they really DO care… don’t they?

Of course they care. ‘They’ refers to the Democrats and how very much they care about the military.

This one comes from Poetrooper. I think it kind of speaks for itself.

    http://dailycaller.com/2017/01/25/poll-shows-how-little-democrats-actually-care-about-the-military/

It kind of belongs in the gigglesnort category, unless you get really ticked off by it.  I would simply throw up my hands.  That ‘can’t we all just get along?’ whine from some unemployed politician isn’t just a whine. It’s the ‘surrender everything’ attitude that annoys me.

  • Someone Escaped Norkiland?

I found this article from the BBC’s newsfeed this morning from Norkiland. Occasionally, one of the more sane people there manages to escape.

This is an interview with one of NDtBF’s higher ups, whose family is probably either dead or digging a hole in the ground so that they can have a place to land when they’re shot.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-38741078

If he says the Norks will revolt against Fatty Kim da T’ird, I tend to take it with a grain of salt. There is probably a percentage that will, but from what I’ve seen, most of them are so embedded in that cult of personality worship that they make fans of the Kardasshats look like pikers.

  • Bad Santa?

    Eric Schmitt-Matzen

    We wrote the other day about Eric Schmitt-Matzen, a former Army Ranger dressed as Santa Clause who comforted a child as the child died in his arms. The Ranger Regiment verified his service with the 2d Battalion of the 75th Rangers in the earl 80s, but now the media is backtracking on his story of the events in the hospital;

Since publication, the News Sentinel has done additional investigation in an attempt to independently verify Schmitt-Matzen’s account. This has proven unsuccessful. Although facts about his background have checked out, his story of bringing a gift to a dying child remains unverified. The News Sentinel cannot establish that Schmitt-Matzen’s account is inaccurate, but more importantly, ongoing reporting cannot establish that it is accurate.

Therefore, because the story does not meet the newspaper’s standards of verification, we are no longer standing by the veracity of Schmitt-Matzen’s account.

    It’s a jungle out there. Another source says they’ve verified part of the story;

WBIR 10News has independently verified several critical details of this story, but has agreed not to publish those for the sake of privacy. Schmitt-Matzen maintains his desire to protect all names involved.

In addition, Schmitt-Matzen’s wife, Sharon, of 38 years spoke with 10News on Wednesday night and also helped fill in details of her husband’s story and his response to what happened that day in what she said was mid-October. That differs from Schmitt-Matzen’s original account of the timeline, in which he said the death happened “about six weeks ago.” Schmitt-Matzen told 10News he had the time wrong and that his wife remembers those things better than he does.

  • Gee. What A Surprise.

Well, it looks like the current DC cognoscenti are beginning their preparations for departure.

Why do I say that?  Because yet another of those “high mucky-mucks” currently in the Federal government now seems free to speak his or her mind – and deviate from the accepted “party line”.  Here’s a quote from a current high-level political appointees:

“But there will still be much more to do after that to make sure that, once defeated, ISIL stays defeated.  We’ll need to continue to counter foreign fighters trying to escape and ISIL’s attempts to relocate or reinvent itself. To do so, not only the United States but our coalition must endure and remain engaged militarily.

In Iraq in particular, it will be necessary for the coalition to provide sustained assistance and carry on our work to train, equip, and support local police, border guards, and other forces to hold areas cleared from ISIL”.

Yeah, he’s saying we’ll need a US “stay behind force” in Iraq after Daesh is defeated in order to maintain long-term stability.  Surprise, surprise.

If that sounds familiar . . . it should.  It’s the same thing several others were telling the current Occupant, 1600 Penn Ave, Wash DC and his       clueless clown krewe       Administration about Iraq during SOFA negotiations in 2011.  It’s also what several of them later said publicly about the resulting mess – as well as saying that the rise of Daesh is directly attributable to a lack of any US stay-behind forces.

The person quoted above?  That would be the Honorable Ashton Carter – AKA, the current SECDEF.

Hmm.  For some reason, the phrase “rats leaving a sinking ship” comes to mind.  Oh well.

I will be so glad when something resembling adult leadership having a freaking clue about how the real world works returns to that Open Air Brothel on the Potomac called DC next month.  I’m thoroughly sick and tired of being led by clueless ideologues with zero understanding of the real world.

Eight years of Leftist idiocy is far too long.

  • “Such is how folk heroes are born.”

“Eh, p!ss on him!”  I’m sure we’ve all heard a variant of that muttered by someone, directed towards someone in authority – when they’re out of earshot, of course.  (smile)

But one time, it literally happened.  In that case, the “whizzer” was a relatively junior officer – and the “target”, a GO.

And the junior guy got away with it with nothing but an ass-chewing.

    . . .

The date was 21 September 1944.  It happened somewhere in the air over Germany.

On that date, the 303th Bombardment Group executed a combat mission against rail yards in Maintz, Germany.  Some of the aircraft involved were from the 359th Bombardment Squadron.

That squadron had some months prior instituted a rule prohibiting pilots from leaving the cockpit during a mission.

The earlier practice had been for pilots in need of a “nature call” to go to the bomb bay and take care of business.  The new policy was that the pilot and copilot were to relieve themselves out of their respective cockpit windows after cracking them open slightly, allowing the slipstream to carry away the waste fluid.  After landing, the pilot was required to clean the window area personally.

During the 21 September mission, the copilot of at least one of the 359th planes had to answer the call of nature.  He did so – unaware that the pilot had simultaneously decided to take a “smoke break”, and also had cracked open his cockpit window.

Unfortunately, the smoker’s window created a cross-draft.  Not all of the waste fluid went out in the slipstream.  Some of it was caught in the cross-draft and struck the smoker dead in the face.

The smoker was Brigadier General Robert F. Travis  – CG, 41st Combat Wing.  He was flying in that aircraft that day as pilot and mission commander on what was the final mission of his current combat tour.

The copilot was the 359th Bombardment Squadron’s Operations Officer – who was a Captain.

After landing, General Travis chewed the Captain’s butt for an extended period of time.  He told the Captain he would award the navigator and bombardier on the crew a DFC, but that the Captain wouldn’t be getting one.  He even threatened to court-martial him, but that threat was never carried out.  (The fact that General Travis’ tour ended and he left a month later might well have had something to do with that. [smile])

In fact, other than that ass-chewing nothing at all happened to the young Captain.  He left the service after World War II, but returned to the USAF in 1948.  He then served until January 1977, retiring with 32 years active duty – as a Colonel.  One of his last assignments was as the Commander, Rhein-Main Air Base.

The copilot’s name was William E. Eisehnart.  As far as I know, he’s the only junior officer who ever literally p!ssed in a general’s face and got away with it.  (smile)

Lest you think this story can’t possibly be legit and should begin with, “No sh!t, there I was . . . ”, you can read this online Google Books excerpt from Stephen Frater’s Hell Above Earth; it documents the incident.  The title of this article was shamelessly lifted from the end of the incident description in that source.

A second description of the incident can be found here.  A third description can be found here.

As of earlier this year, Col. (Ret) William E. Eisehnart was still alive and resided in the Hilton Head, SC, area.  May you continue to live long and prosper, Colonel.

    Author’s Notes

    1.  Yes, this was the same Brigadier General Robert F. Travis who died in a B-29 crash at what was then Fairfield-Suisun AFB, California, in August 1950. The base was renamed Travis AFB in his memory the following year.

    2.  Hat-tip to the Military Corruption site for the original article I saw concerning the incident. Further research based on information in that original story allowed me to locate the referenced links in the article above.
