  • The Paul Wickre Chronicles: Paul in his own words

As the legal issues raised by this situation are evaluated and the facts investigated, for the time being TAH will not allow any more comments on any of the Wickre/Monkress/APL threads. Thank you for your patience as we work through this.

(In light of yesterday’s events at the Navy Yard, I’m publishing this so you can see what we are dealing with.)

NOTE: SHould go without saying, but behave yourself in the comments.  THIS WILL BE READ BY LAW ENFORCEMENT.  I want to make sure they get the threat, so don’t say something dumb.  Kapiche?

We haven’t posted any updates on Paul Wickre for nearly a month now. In fact, we even went a step further and locked down the threads. I wanted to briefly explain why, and show you what we are dealing with behind the scenes. We are doing this because clearly he does not intend to stop emailing and commenting here, despite numerous entreaties that he no longer contact us.

For now, we have a great attorney helping us out. (No need to send money, we are good for now.)

His name is John D. Mason, and his law practice is “Copyright Counselors” out of….Bethesda Maryland, where Paul Wickre is located, which makes it much easier. He’s also an adjunct professor at George Mason University, where I graduated from law school. But the ironic part is, he has also worked with someone we all know and love loathe: Michael Yon. (In his defense, he also has Mike Totten as a client, so he’s one for two on those guys.)

Anyway, he’s phenomenal, and I won’t clutter this up too much praising him, because he deserves his own thread and hosannas once this is over. Suffice to say that dude has helped us immeasurably, dealing with local law enforcement, Mr. Wickre’s attorney and others. And he answers my calls and questions every time I call. So, if you are writing a book or need a literary agent, call him. If you are being sued for defamation, call him. He gets my highest recommendation across the board for legal knowledge, eagerness to help, responsiveness etc.

Anyway, yes, he’s helping us deal with local law enforcement on the ground in Maryland. Since we last talked about Wickre, things went RAPIDLY south. For obvious reasons, I am going to be somewhat circumspect here. As I was about to leave the country for Cuba, Wickre decided it was time to ramp up the physical threats. Rather than talk about them in the abstract, I am going to include some of the comments we blocked from the website, and emails we received, and let his words speak for themselves.

I perceived the threat to be real enough that I contacted three FBI field offices, my local police, and the police in Maryland. All of them have responded well, albeit somewhat slower than I would have liked, since I was headed out of the country. I got a new security system for my house, and started getting my wife to understand the basics of personal security. My father in law came down to stay with her, and to teach her some basic firearms skills. Now, my house isn’t the Alamo that Jonn has created, but I daresay we can hold out until reinforcements could arrive.

Wittgenfeld thinks we are being “pussies” for contacting the police. Ok. Then I am a pussy. But I love my wife, and didn’t want her to get beaten with a baseball bat (see below) when I wasn’t there to protect her. I haven’t included Jonn and my responses to these emails and comments, because largely all I have responded with was “do not contact us, continued emails constitute harassment.”

Where do we stand now? I’m not sure what I am at liberty to discuss. I will have updates for you as soon as developments occur. But this is only the first part of what will likely be a VERY long process. Because it is our opinion that this might go far deeper than just Paul Wickre… He continues to allege that his efforts are being bankrolled by APL and Monkress (for example: he wrote that “The litigation expense of multiple firms on this puzzle is being underwritten by the Principals as below, the Wickre Family Trust, APL and Phil Monkress.”). Which means that we are exploring the possible involvement of APL and Monkress in these threats and harassment.

For now though, I give you the threats and insanity that have been going on in the background in the form of emails and unpublished comments he has submitted to the TAH website for publication.

    Email 8/12/13 2050 hours:

Just want to make sure you have this. On my trip to Indiana, I am going to stop by for a cordial visit with your family. N worries, my Class 14 Champion XKR’S which look like Aston DB-9;s will be stopping by.They do not break and can make the trip on the way to see Seaveys family in 6 hours.

  • The REAL Cause of That Unrest in Syria

Well, according to some, it’s due to drought caused by global warming.

Seriously.  That’s really what some folks are claiming.

That’s just par for the course, though.  As the linked article also shows, eighty years ago the idiots in charge in Damascus blamed freaking yo-yos for causing a severe drought – and banned them.

Historical climate data shows that Syria and the rest of that part of the Middle East has been subject to periodic droughts for literally thousands of years.  And yet there are tools who come up with this kind of pseudo-scientific crap to try and justify their cause du jour – as well as gullible fools who eat it up like candy.

Looks like the old quote erroneously attributed to P T Barnum was right.  There really is one born every minute.

I’ll bet he supports the troops, too. A couple of you sent the photo, but I’m speechless. Do your worst.

  • You Just Ain’t Gonna Believe This One

Well, here’s another “gem of wisdom” from the freaking idiots “fine lads and lasses” at PETA.

According to PETA, ladies, you shouldn’t eat chicken while expecting.  Because if you do – and the child is male – PETA says there may be “dire consequences” for the youngster.

Yeah, they’re full of it.  While there is a trace chemical in poultry (phthalate) that some studies show has been associated with – um, let’s call it “shorter stature” – poultry isn’t a significant source of exposure.  Plastic containers and personal hygiene products are hugely more important sources.

PETA is simply misrepresenting and sensationalizing the facts again for propaganda and fear-mongering purposes.  It’s just more business-as-usual for those clowns.

So, as the cows in the Chick Fil’a ads say:  feel free to “Eat mor chikin”.  (smile)

  • You’re wrong and you should know better

There is nothing I hate more than anyone disrespecting flag of the United States of America, or the uniform of it’s armed services.  From the hipster that wears the OD fatigues with patches as an “ironic” way of showing their disdain for the military to the idiots that act the fool while in uniform nothing makes my blood boil faster.  I can accept open disagreements with how the military should be employed, I can even accept ignorance of what the military actually does, but I simply can not accept any disrespect.  I can not accept any politician using the troops as a prop for political gain, nor can I accept any troops using their uniform, rank or position to affect the political climate with anything not directly affecting the business of their service.

We’ve seen it happen before.  Maybe it started with Jon Kerry tossing his medals, then going before congress and lying about the “testimony” he got from “veterans” during the Winter soldier fiasco.  Maybe it was exacerbated by Danny Choi, who constantly uses his uniform to play dress up and get attention.  Maybe that douchebag Marine Sergeant that kept posting anti-Obama stuff all over Facebook (despite lawful and direct orders not to) has a hand in the continuing climate too.  I know for a fact that the narcissistic valor thieves can’t wait to get their slice of the action.

So with all that said I think it’s pretty clear I loathe such people.  Imagine how I felt when I came across this little gem.

    navychiefpoliticalstatement
Not to be outdone some other joker posing in Marine dress blues had to out do him.

    Marinepoliticalstatement
Before I get into the fact that both an E-5 and an E-8 should KNOW better, or the possibility that these are valor thieves, let’s stop a second and point out that these men are cowards.  They put on the uniform with all their attendant medals, and make a political statement about what they didn’t join the military to do, but hide their face.  If you do something like that at least have the courage to show your face.  More than that don’t wear the uniform while saying it.  If you’re on your own time and feel butt hurt that you might be deployed to Syria, by all means you can talk about it in private.  You can shout and scream about it for hours to anyone you please, but when the time comes you put on your uniform and go where they tell you because that’s your duty.

You think someone who joined the Air Force in say 1959, wanted to end up in Vietnam?  How about they guys that joined in the late 90’s and ended up in Iraq.  It sucks, and you can never tell where you’ll end up.  That’s part of the job.  You probably didn’t join for “area beautification” or getting stuck on a Sergeant Major’s detail when your LT sends your platoon into an ambush in the field.  I didn’t join to put tubes in men’s urethra’s.  There’s a whole lot of fine print when you join.  One thing that should be abundantly clear is that you swore to “Obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over me according to the uniform code of military justice.”  Until the President gives an illegal order (say “I want you to kill all first born sons”) you are legally, orally and ethically bound to FOLLOW THOSE ORDERS. Regardless of how we feel about the missions we’re handed down, we’ve got to suck it up and do them.  When you raise your right hand you lose your “rights” as an American Citizen and fall under a whole new set of rights and privileges.  One of those regulations states very clearly that you may not use that uniform for any political speech.

The troops are not and can not be a part of the political process.  The military has untold power at its fingertips.  and if unchecked could run rampant.  If a General were to get the idea that he could be a Caesar, and that the Mississippi was the Rubicon, what’s to stop him?  Only the solemn knowledge that his troops would never follow his orders, and most would actually put him in the brig if he tried to march on Washington (Rome).  There is a very fine, and dangerous line that separates us from every two bit banana republic, or half assed Junta.  The fact that our military is completely subservient to the Will of the People through their duly elected Representatives is really the ONLY check against some crackpot general from just kicking in the doors of the White House and “fixing” Washington.  The populace might actually cheer such a thing, but it would be totally wrong in every way imaginable.

I think Iraq was a mistake.  A costly one.  But when I got the call I did my damnedest to ensure that my small piece of that mission was successful. I think Syria is a mistake.  I think we shouldn’t get involved, but if we do the Soldiers Sailors Airmen and Marines had better be Johnny on the spot or they’re going to get their buddies killed.  These two clowns are beneath my contempt.  It doesn’t matter if I happen to agree with what they’re saying they are absolutely wrong, and they should be found busted down in rank and perhaps even drummed out.  But then, I take disrespecting the uniform more seriously than some people do.

    UPDATE:

I wasn’t even finished writing this post when this ass clown popped up on my facebook feed.

    Soldierpoliticalstatement
I swear these idiots are coming out of the woodwork.  Maybe Obama’s forthcoming purge of the military might actually be a good thing. . .
[Editor’s note: Doc was joking, of course he doesn’t want the military purged, I’m guessing]

Update 2: I hadn’t even finished that update when this clown shows up.

    Sailorpoliticalstatement
I give up.  I’m sure at least one of these clowns is a valor thief but I’m willing to bet not all are.  Good thing I’m not still in.  I would most certainly like to bring back wall-to-wall counseling with these idiots.

Update 3: Sooo. . . apparently some on the OTHER side of this issue have gotten in on the act.

    Marinecounterstatement

Can’t see the rank on this guy, but judging from the tats and the KIA bracelet as well as the wording of the sign I would say this guy is legit (as opposed to the somewhat questionable clowns above).  So. . . this is probably about to go full retard PDQ.

  • Oh, For Pete’s Sake . . . .

Multiple media organizations are reporting that the US will strike Syria as early as tomorrow.  And they’re also reporting that Administration officials are making no secret about what we’re planning to do – or our objectives.

I won’t go through all the details; the WSJ article here does an excellent job of summarizing them.  But I will respond to a couple of points raised in the article:

    • “ ‘I want to make clear that the options that we are considering are not about regime change,’ White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday. “  Uh, Mr. Carney – the explicit goal of the Syrian rebels IS “regime change”.  If that’s not our goal, then why in the hell are we intervening on the side of the “Syrian rebels” at all?
    • “The New York Times, quoting a Pentagon official, adds that ‘the initial target list has fewer than 50 sites, including air bases where Syria’s Russian-made attack helicopters are deployed.’ “  Gee, that’s wonderful.  The best military strategy in the world is to tell your opponent what you’re planning to do before doing it so they can get ready.

It seems to me that we’re going to use a limited application of US military force to “send a message” vice engage decisively in Syria.  I hope the hell I’m wrong.

Why do I hope I’m wrong?  Can you say “ROLLING THUNDER”?

We all know how well that worked out.

  • Thug: Shorty was selling us crack

    In a link from NBC sent to us by Ex-PH2, the second thug, 16 year-old Kenan Adams-Kinard, who was finally arrested in the murder of WWII combat veteran, “Shorty” Belton in Washington State claims that the whole thing started when the two youths were trying to buy drugs from “Shorty”;

An affidavit from prosecutors says that while he was on the run for four days, Adams-Kinard told two friends that the beating was the result of a drug deal gone bad. Police seized a letter signed with Adams-Kinard’s name that gave a similar account.

The letter said that after buying a “zip of crack cocaine from Shorty,” the teens “proceeded to sock him.”

“I took his wallet and another ounce of crack from his pockets,” the letter said, according to the court document. “He was unconscious so I made sure he was still breathing, and then I took off.”

The letter was purportedly an explanation the teen was writing to his mother, police said.

Spokane police said they doubted the drug-buying story, with spokeswoman Monique Cotton saying in a statement: “We have no evidence to support that.”

Even Glenn’s lawyer, Christian Phelps, said he was highly skeptical of the claim, which was disclosed during Adams-Kinard’s court appearance on Tuesday.

Yeah, Kenan, we believe that shit. Nice try. I’m sure it will resonate with some people, though.

  • Chelsey Manning Backup Plan: a pair of scissors and a shitload of advil

DoD paraphrased: Yeah dude, that’s doesn’t work for us.

    Actual comment:

We are aware that counsel representing the soldier convicted under the name Bradley Manning conveys that his client now openly identifies as female.

There is no mechanism in place for the US military to provide hormone therapy or gender-reassignment surgery for inmates incarcerated in DoD facilities.

Inmates at the United States Disciplinary Barracks and Joint Regional Correctional Facility are treated equally regardless of race, rank, ethnicity or sexual orientation. All inmates are considered soldiers and are treated as such with access to mental health professionals, including a psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers and behavioral science noncommissioned officers with experience in addressing the needs of military personnel in pre- and post-trial confinement.

    So yeah. There’s that.
