  • PTSD made Sam Haley steal from people

    In Fresno, CA Sam Haley who supposedly spent 22 years in the military, decided it was a good idea to start ripping people off. He lost his real estate license more than 30 years ago, but somehow he stayed in the business long enough to perpetrate a fraud on several people and now mitigates his malfeasance with his military service, which remains in question. Says ABC30;

    But Haley claims he’s just a military veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

    Haley was expecting leniency in court because of his military service, and the mental troubles he says he’s suffering. But while the judge acknowledged Haley’s PTSD, he said that wasn’t what caused Haley to commit grand theft.

    And DVA social workers decided they ought to help him foist this crap on the judicial system when Haley sought treatment for his PTSD upon the occasion of his arrest;

    “Mr. Haley, although he managed it well in the initial years, in the later years it became very obvious,” said Herman Barretto, a social worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

    Yeah, nice try, Goober. The prosecutor didn’t buy it;

    The judge sentenced Haley to 180 days in jail, plus five years of probation. He also ordered Haley to pay the victims more than $35,000 in restitution.

    Yeah, there’s a couple of million veterans out here who suffer from PTSD and DON’T steal from people.

  • Big Gay Brad nominated for Nobel Prize

    Someone sent us a link to the story that The Movement of the Icelandic Parliament which nominated Private Bradley Manning for the Nobel Prize. Well, why not? They gave Arafat one and he murdered lots of innocent people. Manning only inspired the bloodbath of the “Arab Spring”.

    According to journalists, his alleged actions helped motivate the democratic Arab Spring movements, shed light on secret corporate influence on our foreign policies, and most recently contributed to the Obama Administration agreeing to withdraw all U.S.troops from the occupation in Iraq.

    Yeah, numbnuts, the withdrawal from Iraq was agreed upon years before Manning released any documents, but, please continue;

    The documents made public by WikiLeaks should never have been kept from public scrutiny. The revelations – including video documentation of an incident in which American soldiers gunned down Reuters journalists in Iraq – have helped to fuel a worldwide discussion about America’s overseas engagements, civilian casualties of war, imperialistic manipulations, and rules of engagement. Citizens worldwide owe a great debt to the WikiLeaks whistleblower for shedding light on these issues, and so I urge the Committee to award this prestigious prize to accused whistleblower Bradley Manning.

    Yeah, if he was Icelandic and released the same level of classified documents, your government would be charging him with treason, Birgitta Jónsdóttir, et al. But because it’s about America, it’s whistleblowing. Manning’s treason didn’t spark any discussion about America’s involvement in other countries…that discussion has been an ongoing process since Stalin incarcerated Russia.

    But, yeah, since the Nobel Prize has been turned into a giant punchline over the last several decades, go ahead and give it to the little drama queen for throwing a hissy fit because his boyfriend dumped him. Seems fitting, actually given the recent set of recipients.

    By the way “The Movement” is a political party and consists of three members out of the 63 members Icelandic Parliament, the Althingi, so it’s hardly a “movement” other than the name.

  • Not His Fault? The Army Made Him Do it!

    That’s the excuse his defense team has been using.  Now we get to see how it stands up in Court.

    This is news to few here at TAH… but it IS new that it is finally moving out of the court of public opinion.

    Bradley Manning to Face All Charges in Court-Martial

    WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning is headed for a general court-martial, according to the commander of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington in an announcement released late Friday.

    Maj. Gen. Michael Linnington, the general convening authority for the district, made the determination that Manning will face all 22 charges leveled against him, include aiding the enemy, wrongfully causing intelligence to be published on the internet knowing that it is accessible to the enemy, theft of public property or records, transmitting defense information, and fraud and related activity in connection with computers.

    The most serious charge — aiding the enemy — carries a possible death penalty. Prosecutors have said they will not seek the death penalty. Instead, Manning faces life in prison if convicted of all the charges.

    There seems to be no/zero/nil doubt that he did what he’s accused of.  The peripheral  dog and pony show and other fancy dancing should be entertaining.

  • Pot-growing Veteran in shoot out in Utah

    Police engaged in a shoot out with Matthew David Stewart, a 37-year-old Army veteran in Ogden, Utah when they attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant because he was suspected of growing marijuana on his property;

    Ogden police officer Jared Francom, 30, died during the shootout with a suspect during a drug raid on a home in Ogden, about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City. Five other officers were injured.

    Police said Matthew David Stewart, a 37-year-old Army veteran suspected of growing marijuana, ignored a knock at the door when drug task force members arrived to serve a warrant. They said he waited for them to enter his house before firing from a concealed position with a semi-automatic pistol.

    When police returned fire, Stewart fled through a rear bedroom window, according to an affidavit. He hid in a backyard shed, where police say he continued firing, nearly hitting another police officer.

    It was at that point that Stewart was shot and taken into custody, prosecutors said.

    We know what his defense is going to be;

    Stewart, a former member of the U.S. Army for four years, is charged with getting into a gunfight with members of the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force after the task force showed up at his home to serve a warrant on Jan. 4.

    I suppose the Army taught him how to grow pot, too.

  • Pot POWs?

    John sent us a link to a website yesterday called “Veterans For Weed” (and then it shortens the name to the acronym “VFW”) which is supposed to advocate for veterans who have been arrested and imprisoned for consumption and the possession of marijuana. And, yes, that’s their logo above. Before that, the image was a tribute to Missing and Imprisoned POWs who remain unaccounted for.

    On their website, they explain;

    We love Veterans. And the PoW flag has just as much meaning to us as anyone else. Hemp Solo himself fought in Vietnam in two tours, and only knows too well what it was like to lose comrades in battle. It is because of our love of Veterans, and the flags that represent them, that lead us to making this site. What you declare a desecration, we declare exercising the very freedoms that Veterans fought for.

    If you’re here, and you’re angry, then perhaps you could understand the anger we feel when men, good men, who fought in wars, end up in prison for possession of a drug that for all intents and purposes should be legal.

    Yes, veterans imprisoned for breaking the law by choice are just like those who are held in foreign countries against their will, while executing their sacred duties. “Should be legal” doesn’t mean “is legal”.

    And there’s nothing disrespectful about embroidering your pot head flag with words like “stoner soldier” and “semper high”.

    The VFW is also a little miffed about them stealing their acronym according to Stars & Stripes;

    On Monday, the real VFW (they’ve held the copyright on the acronym for more than six decades) sent the Milwaukee-based pro-marijuana group a cease-and-desist letter, calling their use of the acronym misleading and illegal. Officials said they’ll move ahead with more serious legal action if the other guys don’t drop the three-letter-name on all communications, web sites and other products.

    This organization only serves to perpetuate the myth of drug-addled veterans who can’t adapt to civilian life without illicit self-medication. It seems to me that anyone interested in veterans’ well-being can find other ways, like promoting employment, or rehabilitation from drug use. This narrow-minded self-serving crap only makes things worse, pirated imagery aside.

  • Win-win; Make $50k & get an ugly eco-terrorist off the street

    Someone sent me this FBI wanted poster today of their latest addition to the Most Wanted crowd; Josephine Sunshine Overaker. She’s wanted on terrorist charges related to arson incidents which ALF and ELF have admitted to inspiring;

    I’ll bet that middle name “Sunshine” wasn’t given to her by anyone who expected her to end up looking like that. Unless it was a joke name like calling a really fat guy “Tiny”.

    But seriously. We need to get that woman off the streets. I’m sure that just the sight of her is turning men gay like a deadly infectious virus. That might be part of her dastardly plan.

  • “A cowardly act” in Grand Rapids

    UpNorth sends an article about vandalism at a Marine Reserve Center in Grand Rapids, MI. Someone burned a flag and tried to deface the memorial. Veterans in the area are rightly upset.

    Veterans at the American Legion down the way say they’re upset and disappointed about what happened. They take the flag very seriously.

    Ron Kerr says, “They (the vandal) probably has no idea what they did to folks like myself and others that have served.”

    The punk(s) is(are) probably proud of his(their) accomplishment and might run his mouth, if anyone in the area hears something, call the police so the justice system can throat punch the weasel(s).

  • Bradley “Breanna” Manning to be court martialed

    The officer who presided over the Article 32 hearing for Bradley Manning has decided that the case of Manning releasing classified material to the world through Wikileaks has merit and will go to trial. From the Washington Times;

    Pfc. Manning faces 22 counts, including aiding the enemy, for allegedly giving more than 700,000 secret U.S. documents to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. Prosecutors say WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange collaborated with the soldier.

    Defense lawyers say Pfc. Manning was clearly a troubled young soldier. They say the Army never should have sent him to Iraq or given him access to classified material.

    The defense is brilliant. Their contention is that Manning didn’t leak the information, but if he did, the information shouldn’t have been classified, and he was confused about why he has a dick, so that’s another excuse right there.

    ABC News reports that the morally bankrupt Left is aleady littering the landscape of the nation’s capitol with billboards in support of Manning;

    The billboard at 1240 New York Ave. NE displays a picture of Manning with the words “Free Bradley Manning” and “Blowing the whistle on war crimes is not a crime.”

    “Our goal was to basically display broad public support for Bradley,” said Jeff Paterson, project director of Courage to Resist. “We think Bradley deserves the same amount of support that Daniel Ellsberg received when he released the Pentagon papers.”

    Yeah, Courage To Resist also supported Jason Abdo, the failed Fort Hood terrorist before his plot was revealed. They probably gave Abdo the wherewithal to escape the Army after he was charged with having child porn and a place from which to launch his doomed plot.
