  • Veteran attacked and ignored in Detroit

    86-year-old veteran Aaron Brantley was car-jacked and mugged in Detroit which is bad enough, but when he couldn’t stand after being knocked down by the mugger, he had to crawl to the store, while passerby motorists watched his struggle without lending any aid. The video is pretty painful to watch (Detroit Free Press link);

    Brantley was on his way home from Bible study at Corinthians Baptist Church in Hamtramck, where he’s a trustee, when someone hit him from behind and grabbed his keys at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday. The thief drove off in Brantley’s 2010 Chrysler 200 — bought to replace another car recently stolen.

    Yeah, Detroit is a shithole, and apparently, the denizens deserve everything they get if they can’t help an octogenarian with a broken leg who just lost his car, for the second time.

  • Don’t burn a flag at the VFW

    So this guy goes into the local VFW and he was refused service because he didn’t have the proper ID. The guy gets angry and goes outside and burns their flag. The members of the VFW hall were pretty angry and decided to hunt him down. they found him the next day and…well, listen to the story;

    Apparently the flag had flown over a foxhole in Iraq where some soldiers paid the ultimate price and the remnants will be laid to rest.

  • Janos v. Kyle

    I guess Jesse Ventura doesn’t like the fact that real SEAL Chris Kyle wrote in his book that he smacked down Janos in a bar several years back, so he’s seeking a legal remedy;

    Ventura, whose real name is James Janos, recently filed a defamation lawsuit against Navy SEAL Chris Kyle over the portrayal of a bar fight Kyle claims they had six years ago in Coronado, Calif. Kyle wrote about the alleged incident in his recent memoir “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.”

    Under the headline, “Punching Out Scruff Face,” Kyle describes a confrontation with a “celebrity” who served in the military during the Vietnam War and who “most people seem to believe was a SEAL.” He said Scruff Face winters in Baja California, opposed the war in Iraq and described the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as a “conspiracy.”

    I’m not surprised that Ventura would sue, I’m only surprised that it took so long for him to try cut himself out a chunk of the profits from Kyle’s book.

  • Occupy Foot Locker

    So while people are dying in a war against their government in Syria, Afghans are rioting over burnt Korans, our troops are fighting our nation’s enemies, bombs rock Iraq, we’re focused on the real important shit here in the US. Namely, Nike sneakers. Consumers rioted in Orlando last night;

    Hundreds of people were dispersed from the Foot Locker House of Hoops store after trouble broke out Thursday night in the countdown to the doors opening at midnight, WOFL-TV reported.

    Orange County Sheriff deputies on horseback and dressed in riot gear with helmets and plastic shields moved in around 9:45pm local time when things got out of control.

    Two people were arrested on a charge of trespassing after being warned to leave the site.

    Angry shoppers were turned away in Prince Georges County, MD today;

    People waiting in line told FOX 5 that the manager of the store announced to the crowd that the shoe, the new Nike Foamposite Galaxy, would not be sold.

    Some people starting lining up two days ago. Overnight, the crowd grew to about 300.

    At times, police say they became unruly and ordered them to leave.

    Some did go, but about a hundred stayed.

    Angry Crowds Turned Away in Hyattsville after Waiting for Release of new Nike Foamposite Galaxy Shoe: MyFoxDC.com

    The shoes sell retail for about $220, but bids on them for over a thousand dollars have been spotted on Ebay. I found one pair on Ebay with a “But it now” price of $1700.

    So it’s good to see that Americans who are about to pay $5/gallon for gas have their priorities straight.

  • Phony firefighter admits lies

    Yeah, it’s not just the troops who suffer fools. In this link from Tman, Jordan Lifander admits that he lied to a crowd when he claimed that he was a captain of FDNY’s Ladder 133, which lost 12 men on Sept. 11, but he was a firefighter in Long Island at the time.

    “You know, once you tell one lie, you gotta keep up that lie,” Lifander told CBSNewYork.com on Wednesday. “I got all caught up in the whole 9/11 anniversary and just lied. I was not a member of the FDNY, was not a captain in Ladder 133.”

    Lifander “did not survive the disaster any more than those of us who watched it on television,” CBS 2’s Lou Young wrote.

    Dressed in a uniform with an FDNY patch, Lifander spoke at a 9/11 memorial service in Spartanburg, S.C., last year, telling the crowd he attended “47 funerals in three weeks for brothers who died that day.” He received a standing ovation.

    He didn’t gain anything from his lie, so its him just taking advantage of his freedom of speech rights. Sounds to me that he was just trying to pick up women at the event, so I’m sure Jonathan Turley will ruch to his defense.

  • The chinese menu that is the Manning defense strategy

    The Bradley Manning espionage case is headed for trial. It actually started yesterday with Manning refusing to enter a plea, if that doesn’t give you an indication of how this trial will go. He also declined to choose the type of trial (panel or judge) he would get.

    The Military Times/Associated Press gives us a run down of the defense strategy which looks like a Chinese menu…pick one from column A, one from column B;

    Defense lawyers say Manning was troubled and shouldn’t have had access to classified material.

    Manning’s lawyers countered that others had access to Manning’s workplace computers in Iraq. They say he was in emotional turmoil, partly because he was a gay soldier while U.S. armed forces still barred gays from serving openly. The defense also claims Manning’s apparent disregard for security rules during stateside training and his increasingly violent outbursts after deployment were red flags that should have prevented him from having access to classified material. They also contend that the material WikiLeaks published did little or no harm to national security.

    So to boil it down to it’s essence; He didn’t do it, someone else did, the Army shouldn’t have let him near classified information, so he couldn’t do it, Manning’s attitude, because he was gay in the military, caused him to [not] do it, and so what if he did do it?

    That’s brilliant. It should be entertaining to watch the defense team twist themselves into pretzels. The Washington Post wrote that the trial might not begin until August;

    Manning’s defense attorney, David E. Coombs, sought Thursday to set a trial date for the court martial in June, arguing that his client has spent 635 days in pretrial detention. The prosecution said that although it would be ready for trial by April, a reasonable trial calendar would have the proceedings begin on Aug. 3.

    Well, if the defense team hadn’t been delaying the open-and-shut case, the little turd would already be serving his sentence.

  • Multi-chinned douche-nozzle on USSC discussion of SVA

    Pat sent us this video last night and I’ve been a little reticent to post it because I’m sure this little dick munch just wants attention. Then again, it might get him a throat punch if he ever steps outside his grandmother’s basement, and if an attacker could find a throat under the rolls of stored Twinkies.

    So do what you want. He doesn’t care, I don’t care.

  • Utah (R) State Senator wants to block tax break for deployed NG troops

    Senate Majority Leader Scott Jenkins rants against all of the benefits that National Guard soldiers from Utah get from their service during and after their deployments in this video;

    The issue is over whether Utah will absorb deployed troops’ property taxes while they’re deployed to a combat zone.

    Legislators voiced support Tuesday for waiving property taxes on the homes of military members while they are deployed to combat zones, but said legislation aiming to do that needs more work.

    Jenkins rant is little disturbing in the regard that he seems to be a little envious of the military for everything they “get” and he completely disregards what they’re willing to pay for the State of Utah and the country, that being their very lives. In fact, I find Jenkins a bit childish because he doesn’t get the same tax breaks and aid that those who actually serve the country get. And, oh, yeah that retirement after 20 years is so grand that most of us have to work after we retire.

    I’ll bet he’d be singing a different tune if they were talking about a tax break for State legislators.
