  • In a war we want to focus on the really important s###

    TSo sends us a link from Military.com about the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers who want us to focus on the more important aspects of military service. This time they’re going for the religious preference “solicitation” for your dog tags.

    “What MRFF has received complaints about is the fact that a service member’s religion is listed on forms where there is no legitimate reason for it to be listed, such as the Army’s ORB (Officer Record Brief) … forms whose purpose is to provide a summary of a service member’s education, special skills, and service record,” said Chris Rodda, a writer and a researcher for MRFF.

    “There is no reason that religion should be a factor in any career or assignment decisions that the information on these forms is used for,” she said.

    Yeah, that really reduces the combat effectiveness of the force. Ya know, all you have to do is exactly like me and Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood terrorist, did – put in No Religious Preference. It certainly didn’t hinder his career to deny his Muslim religion, and it was probably the least of my worries, career-wise.

    And I wish they’d change the name of their organization, they don’t want anyone to be freethinkers, they want us all to conform to their endless and useless drivel.

  • Ventura denies getting punched TFO

    The other day we reported that Chris Kyle, the SEAL, told the story about how he came to make all of our dreams come true by punching loud mouth Jesse Ventura, not a SEAL. Now Ventura, understandably, is refuting the report, in that highly reputable Prison Planet, and claims that a SEAL made up the story because Ventura supports Ron Paul – yeah, it doesn’t make sense to me either. Why would one SEAL care how Ventura was intending to vote.

    “For someone to state that I would take joy and pleasure in especially one of my SEAL team mates would die, that I would enjoy that, is despicable, it’s wrong, and this never happened,” said Ventura.

    Yeah, well, I don’t see any of Kyle’s team mates coming out to defend Ventura. I don’t even know how Kyle is planning to vote in the upcoming election, for all Ventura knows he’s voting for Paul, too. That’s quite a leap to take to say Kyle made up the story to discredit Ventura for his support of the racist Ron Paul.

    I think Ventura thinks it feeds into his image of being a victim of “the system”. Now the GOP is sending SEALs out to take down Ventura. More conspiracy bullshit from the head conspiracy nutjob.

    Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

  • Like clockwork

    Remember all those optics that went missing from JBLM a couple days ago? Well it turns out it’s about $600k worth of stuff that was secured in a locked but not alarmed room. Whatever, like that doesn’t happen all the time. Somehow, though, the thieves managed to cut the locks and make off with it unbeknownst to the Company’s Supply section for as long as three weeks.

    Right on time, the North Korean apologist, Stalinist lunatics at International ANSWER have crawled across I-5 from Coffee Strong to use this opportunity to take up the locked-down comapany’s cause via their front group “March Forward”. You might remember some illustrious members such as Michael Prysner. According to the Seattle Times:

    The lockdown has angered some of the soldiers, who are part of the brigade’s 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment. They have received support from March Forward, a group of soldiers and veterans opposed to the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, who have been circulating a petition calling for an end to the lockdown.

    “The Fort Lewis, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment is again being subjected to abusive treatment by its chain of command,” the petition reads.

    Ah, good to have some emo-Communist burnouts in your corner, isn’t it guys?

    Don’t get me wrong, if I was stuck on lock down in the BEQ because some criminal in cammies stole a bunch of crap from my unit I’d be pretty pissed too. All that being said I have to add that, in the big scheme of things, sitting around drinking beer and watching cable while the CID figures out who’s going to lockup isn’t exactly a humanitarian crisis.

  • Former soldier attempts to join al Shabab

    AverageNCO sends us a link to an entry on the FBI website about a former soldier, Craig Benedict Baxam, age 24, of Laurel, Maryland, who was apprehended by Kenyan police while he was trying to join al Shabab in Somalia;

    The affidavit alleges that Baxam secretly converted to Islam days before he separated from the Army, after finding an Islamic religious website on the Internet

    On December 20, 2011, Baxam flew from Baltimore-Washington International Airport and arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on December 22. He took a bus to Mombasa, Kenya, and hired taxis to travel through Kenya to Somalia.

    On December 23, 2011, Kenyan police stopped a bus in which Baxam was traveling near Mombasa, Kenya, and arrested Baxam for attempting to travel to Somalia to join Al-Shabaab. Baxam was held at the Kenyan Anti-Terrorism Police Unit in Nairobi and interviewed by the FBI.

    AKO lists Baxam’s rank as PV1 and his Career Management Field as 35, Military Intelligence. The FBI says he was trained in “cryptology and intelligence” and was a veteran of Iraq after which he reenlisted, but that he separated a few weeks before his DEROS date from Korea in July 2011.

    It looks like he might have been another disciplinary problem while he was in the Army.

  • We all have to die, so why not die the Islamic way?

    Those were the words of 25-year-old Sami Osmakac, a naturalized US citizen who immigrated from Yugoslavia to an FBI informant while he was plotting to attack crowded areas of Tampa, Florida with firearms and explosives that the FBI claims it had disabled according to Fox News;

    The federal complaint says that shortly before his arrest, Osmakac made a video of himself explaining his motives for carrying out the planned violent attack.

    Life imitates Clancy again.

    On Jan. 1, Osmakac told the agent that he wanted to bomb night clubs, the Operations Center of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and a business in Tampa, Florida.

    From MyTampaBay;

    Osmakac’s family, however, denied the allegations. His father, who owns the Balkan Food Store & Bakery in St. Petersburg, told FOX 13 his son had become more religious recently, but insisted he had no weapons.

    Buncha ingrates.

  • CNN’s expert on uniform violations

    77 11C20 dropped a link off in the comments to a CNN report which included our favorite expert on wearing the uniform in inappropriate circumstances;

    Lt. Choi, whom, you may recall, was discharged from the military under DADT, has experience with this issue. Back in 2010, Choi handcuffed himself to the White House’s North Lawn fence, while in uniform, as a means of protesting DADT. Of course, Choi is quick to point out that he was a civilian at the time of the protest, “and so we have the full right to wear the entire uniform. So they’re not charging me for wearing the uniform, they just didn’t like the fact that I was protesting and practicing my free speech.”

    Yeah, well, that’s a lie. Choi was arrested while he was still in Federal Service wearing the uniform and chained to the White House fence. Here is my post from March 2010 and the announcement of his discharge in July 2010. I don’t know why he’s trying to rewrite history.

    And, if I’m not mistaken Choi was in the Reserves National Guard at the time, too. So I don’t know why the CNN article says; “That said, he believes that Corporal Jesse Thorsen‘s case is different because he is currently in the reserves.” Must be that PTSD from hanging out with his PFC buddies in the S-2 shop is eating his brain.

    And frankly, I’m sick of seeing Choi hiding behind his uniform.

  • SEAL does what we all wish we had the opportunity to do

    We wrote about Chris Kyle the other day. He’s on a tour promoting his book and while he was on the Opie and Anthony Show. Apparently,, Jesse Ventura, former pro-wrestler, UDT member and Minnesota Governor said at a bar in which some SEALs had gathered to mourn a dead comrade along with the family of Michael Mansoor that they deserved to lose a few guys;

    Thanks to the hundreds of you that sent us this link and the story. Apparently, you’re all fairly pleased that someone punched Ventura.

  • Representin’

    What exactly, I’m unsure;

    ROS sent us the picture of rappers Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. yeah, i don’t know who they are, either, Wiki says;

    Yayo was arrested on December 31, 2002 for weapons possession. He had a Glock 20 handgun and a Colt AR 15 in the trunk of his car. When police discovered that Yayo had an outstanding warrant for a previous such charge, Yayo was sentenced for bail jumping and spent all of 2003 in prison. Yayo served time in the Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility and was paroled on January 8, 2004. The next day, he was arrested for possessing a forged passport and served time in federal prison until May 25, 2004.

    You Marines should be proud that he chose your uniform to show what a “Soljer” he is. Semper Fido!
