  • So, Snowden Was Just An “Honorable Guy”, Eh?

    Believe that, and I’ve got a great deal for you on a bridge.

    An “honorable guy” doesn’t do a lot of things.  One of them is to trick his colleagues into helping him steal massive amounts of classified information.  Another is lie through his teeth.

    Per this story, apparently NSA has determined that Snowden tricked, cajoled, or conned at least three of his colleagues into providing him their login credentials on NSA systems.  (Some of the links in that article are marked FOUO, so if you’re accessing the article from a government computer system use due caution.)  Snowden then captured those credentials and used them at later times to gain access to material he would not have otherwise been able to access – and steal.

    Previously, Snowden has denied stealing others’ login credentials.  So this documents that Snowden is a damned liar, too (as if we didn’t already know that).

    One of the individuals Snowden duped has since “resigned” from NSA. (I’m guessing it was either that or be fired, as the article states his security clearance had been revoked.)  Reportedly, the other two have had their access to NSA systems revoked.  Other information in the article indicates the two may possibly face additional disciplinary action.

    Yeah, I’m guessing these folks thought they were simply “helping out” a co-worker by doing what they did.  But the guys and/or gals involved were still being fools when they were duped.  Security policies exist for a reason, and bypassing them can really cause problems.  Bypassing them did exactly here.

    IMO, this does rather conclusively prove that Snowden was anything but honorable.  Honorable people don’t hang their colleagues out to dry like this, or lie through their teeth publicly.  This also shows that Snowden meticulously planned his crimes in advance, and actively sought out information he knew he wasn’t authorized to see in order to steal it.

    I hope we one day get our hands on this damned turncoat.  Hopefully, that will be when we have an administration running things that knows how to deal with turncoats.

  • Kyle Barwan back in the news.

    Kyle Barwan Febuary 2014 Scammer Stolen Valor felon

    Well things are not going that great for our ‘friend” Kyle Barwan. It seems that he is currently homeless. But it seems that he some how managed to be one of the main people interviewed on a news story for a homeless shelter’s need for donations. I mean for some strange reason donations have dropped off. Weird right?

    The number of people served is increasing and the amount of donations are dropping. A few rooms with games and a T.V., make up a temporary place for 24 year old Kyle Barwan to call home.

    “Things got really hectic and I had no where to go. My family couldn’t help out and the economy got real bad, I came here and they were quick to take me in,” said Barwan.

    Barwan has been living at River City Mission for three weeks.

    “This is probably one of the best places to go, when you have no where to go,” said Barwan.

    The mission provides a place to stay, hot meals, and even entertainment. Executive Director Shirley Barlow said the community’s generosity makes it all possible.

    Well I know that it can be tough when you have burned all your bridges because you have scammed everyone that cared about your or trust you that for some strange reason they are not helping you now. I mean getting caught tricking people out of thousands of dollars by the way of lying about your military service can added up quick. Oh and I see your latest arrest was just this past November.

    More to come.

    Update: Goes under the following names/usernames.

  • Sailor sentenced for “attempted espionage”

    PFM sends us a link to Fox News which reports that retired sailor, Robert Hoffman, was sentenced to thirty years in prison for trying to sell classified material to FBI agents;

    Prosecutors say Hoffman gave classified information about tracking ships to people he believed were Russian spies.

    Hoffman was a cryptologic technician in the Navy who held top secret clearance and retired in November 2011. Hoffman spent much of his 20-year Navy career on submarines.

    Hoffman, originally from Buffalo, N.Y., retired with the rank of petty officer first class.

    To me, that’s just stupid. The FBI doesn’t need any classified documents, so why was he selling it to them? Being an “attempted spy” probably won’t give him much cred in the cell block or save him from many ass-whoopings.

  • LTC Roy Tisdale’s murderer was involved in crime ring

    The Fayetteville Observer reports that Ricky Elder, the Army specialist who murdered LTC Roy Tisdale while the commander gave his unit a safety briefing on June 28, 2012, was involved in a crime ring, which probably led to the murder-suicide;

    “It is my opinion, that had these larcenies not occurred, Lt. Col. Tisdale would still be with us today.”

    Capt. Aaron E. Adams, now stationed at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center at Hohenfels, Germany, wrote those words in a letter included in the case file for Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kurt Allen Bennett.

    Bennett is a helicopter pilot who in 2012 served as brigade tactical operations officer and then led the brigade’s enabler security team.

    He’s also been convicted of stealing government property and was sentenced last year to three years in a federal prison, although he isn’t due to report to prison until June 30, 2014.

    According to court documents, Bennett and another soldier, Sgt. 1st Class Robert Alan Walker, conspired together to steal military equipment that included vehicle motors, tools and electronics while deployed from 2010 to 2011.

    According to the article, Elder was a criminal before he joined the Army and his bad behavior continued in uniform with a couple of assault charges and DUI. He probably shouldn’t have enlisted, and should have been booted long before he took two lives that day.

    WO3 Bennett’s crime ring consisted of nine soldiers and impacted the readiness of his unit, but he gets off the hook with just three years of prison time. Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll get stuck with a shiv like the pig he is.

    Thanks to ROS for the link.

  • Ventura off the grid, off his nut

    Professional conspiracy theorist, Jesse Ventura’s, or Jimmy Janos’, whichever you prefer, cheese has finally slid completely off of his cracker. He says that he’s “off the grid” hiding from drones, says Politico;

    “I’m off the grid. I move about with my TV show so that the drones can’t find me and you won’t know exactly where I am,” Ventura said, talking over the host’s question as to whether it was a hoax.

    The former third-party governor hosts a show called “Off the Grid” on Ora TV. Ventura said he could remain off the map “as long as we have solar power and we can reach the satellite.”

    “I view the United States, today, much like East Berlin. And I’m off the grid. I’ve tried for 20 years to warn the country about the Democrats and Republicans, and nobody’s listening.”

    He should be hiding, since he decided to sue Chris Kyle’s widow – America’s veterans are more dangerous to him than the government. But, it was a good move on his part to hide his show on a network with which I’m not familiar and probably most Americans. He should try hiding even better if CNBC’s reporters can find him.

  • Two sentenced for misfiling or trashing 1800 vets’ records at NPRC

    A couple of folks sent us links to the St. Louis Dispatch which reports that two student employees misfiled or trashed at least 1800 veterans’ records in 2011 and 2012 at the National Personnel Records Center. The case opened when 241 records, complete with Personally Identifiable Information (PII), were found dumped in the woods;

    One of the ex-employees, Lonnie Halkmon, 28, was sentenced Thursday to two years of probation and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service. The other, Stanley Engram, 21, is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 7. Both pleaded guilty of destruction of government records. Federal guidelines call for a sentence from probation to six months behind bars.

    Court documents show that the files in the woods were traced to Engram, who admitted disposing of them, “abandoning” others in the center and throwing some away at home. In all, he admitted destroying or deliberately misfiling more than 1,000 records.

    […]

    [Engram’s lawyer, Eric] Banks stressed that “nobody has been denied or lost any benefits as a result of any of this.”

    Well, no, not yet. And I can imagine this incident can be the new excuse for phonies, like the 1973 fire has been their excuse for the last few decades. Thanks, fellas.

    That’s why you should always make copies of everything and keep them safe. Mine are in my gun safe.

  • Finally, Some Good News

    Federal authorities have announced they will seek the death penalty in the case of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – AKA the surviving   terrorist bastard   “Boston Marathon bomber”.

    All I can say is three things:

    • Why did it take more than 5 minutes to make that decision?
    • Make sure you have a damn good prosecution team, DoJ.
    • No f**king plea deals.

    I’m sure that our “liberal brethren” will be out in force soon raising a hue and cry, and defending “poor, misunderstood young Dzhokhar”.  But you know what?  I don’t freaking care.

    Do the crime, do the time.  Or in this case – get the needle.

  • Teen to be tried as an adult in vet-beating

    16-year-old Keith Scott is going to be tried as an adult in the beating of 92-year-old vet, Josef Martin in Fresno, California. Inn October, Scott and 12 & 15-year-old accomplices broke into Mr. Martin’s home according to the Fresno Bee;

    Mims said one of the suspects thrust a gun in Martin’s mouth and threatened to kill him. Martin also was pistol-whipped and then thrown into a closet, his head punching a foot-wide hole in the wall, as the assailants ransacked his home, stealing $200 from under a rug and jewelry before getting away.

    Mims also said deputies were investigating other home invasions in the vicinity of Martin’s home near Olive and Willow avenues.

    But so far, only Scott and the 12-year-old have been charged in connection with the attack on Martin.

    Wednesday, Lamanuzzi said neither Scott nor the 12-year-old was charged with personally using or holding a gun. That suspect has never been charged, he said.

    Sheriff’s officials confirmed Wednesday an investigation of the third suspect is ongoing.

    The Bee continues to paint a sympathetic portrait of Scott, a slight teen surrounded by hardened criminals in the court room. His lawyer tells us he’s a “special education student”, like that means anything anymore. We’re all special ed students these days. If I took down all of our phonies who people claimed they were “challenged, we’d be out of business. The lawyer claims that his client was influenced by the other boys – who were both younger than him. Hardly sounds right. But he’s being held on $400k bail, so we’ll know where to find him when he goes to trial.
