  • Evan Jensen; phony SEAL

    Evan Jensen; phony SEAL

    I guess this fellow, Evan Jensen, was busted by Don Shipley a few years ago, but somehow his records showed up in my inbox again. I have to guess that he’s out there again, thinking the brouhaha has settled down. He’s one of those paranormal people. He edits the Paranormal Herald World News and he has a radio show “Beyond Reality; Paranormal Talk Radio. He claims to “out” phony ghost hunters, but he’s friends with phony Air Force Major/Vietnam veteran David Rountree. Anyway, folks were challenging him about something and he threatened to bring some of his SEAL warrior training to bear on their ass;

    The Navy remembers his brief time with them a little differently;

    He had 27 months of service as a fireman, six months on the USS Midway, at sea and then for some reason, he was out on the street with an abbreviated career in the Navy ending his time as an E-1. No SEAL training, no awards of any kind. A hero with no medals.

    There are rumors of prison time after he got out of the Navy, but I don’t deal with that stuff.

  • Charles Layton; phony Korean War POW

    Charles Layton; phony Korean War POW

    Someone sent us a link to the story that Charles Layton told to KFOR4 in Indiana about his time serving in the Korean War with the 22nd Ranger Battalion, the 7th Infantry Division, the 2d Infantry Division and his 18 weeks as a POW.

    In the early 1950s, he spent four months in captivity in the bitter cold, suffering daily beatings.

    “The pain was so intense,” said Layton. “I couldn’t speak for several days. I wish I could rip it from my memory, out of my head. Even with shoes on, I can still feel the pain.”

    The memories, now 65 years old, haunt him still.

    “I knew I had to do it for us to escape. I had no alternative but to kill the guards,” he said. “Taking somebody’s life is not a happy memory, and I felt tremendously guilty and carried that guilt a long, long, long time.”

    He thought he was going to die.

    “They were butchers,” Layton told CBS4. “They would slap you. They would hit you. They would punch you. They would kick you.”

    He survived, and so did dozens of others because of his heroism. He led a group of POWs into the fight for their lives.

    “When the guards came on duty and got warm and they were intoxicated, we made a noise at the back guard. And he came in and we took him down,” said Layton.

    It took more than 60 years for the hero to share the story. No one knew, including his wife and children, until he wrote it in his book.

    Yep, the stories didn’t start until he wrote a book “Escaped with Honor” about his experiences as a soldier and a POW.

    Lucky for him, it looks like his records were destroyed in the famous National Archives records Fire of 1973;

    Even Senator Richard Lugar’s office couldn’t help;

    They were able to confirm that Layton served;

    Someone we know was able to read his book and they tell us that the timeline of the events are fairly erratic. He was drafted in November and by March, Layton was on his way to Korea. Between November and March, he supposedly went through basic training, infantry training and then he went to Ranger School (which was 60 days in 1951) and graduated as a Military Operative – such a Military Occupational Specialty didn’t exist in the 1950s.

    Layton also claims in his book that on the boat ride to Korea, he and another soldier decided to take a dip in the ocean while the ship was underway – they dived over board and then climbed back on the ship. Totally legit.

    In the book, he claims that in Korea he was assigned to BOTH the 2nd Infantry Div AND the 7th Armored Division. The 7th Armored Division was inactivated on October 11, 1945 in New York City. In the article, he claims he was assigned to the 22nd Ranger Battalion. The Ranger Association says that there has never been a 22d Ranger Battalion.

    Layton claims that he was awarded a Purple Heart for his wounds (hit in left forearm, right leg, and torso according to the video at the link), that the pain from those wounds haunt him every day. But not enough to ask the VA for treatment. He filed for proof of his service for compensation for his sole injury in 1994 – hearing loss and tinnitus;

    No one can find any proof of his Purple Heart award. In his book, Layton claims that his family was notified that he was Missing in Action, but the DPAA lists only one Layton who was Missing – Robert Van Layton whose remains were recovered in 2004 and returned in 2006;

    If his family had been notified, there would be some kind of record somewhere in the Defense Department, but there’s not.

    Here are some screen shots of his claims from the video;

    The point of the article is that Layton is looking for the other 3 dozen POWs he helped to escape, but he doesn’t know the name of even one, because they were dirty and bearded. Apparently, people who are bearded and dirty don’t share their names with each other.

    To me, it looks like he discovered that his records were lost in the 1973 fire and set out to create a record for himself.

  • The return of Kissing Bobby Dias

    The return of Kissing Bobby Dias

    We haven’t heard from Kissing Bobby Dias for about four years. He labors under the misapprehension that POW Network exists to record the experiences of Vietnam veterans and POWs. He sends Mary some of his BS stories in hopes that he’ll become part of the Vietnam veteran legacy. The truth is that he never served;

    But that doesn’t stop his writing about things that never happened. Here’s his latest tale to Mary, just the way he wrote it;

    A Deserter And A Murderer, Not a POW

    In 1967, I was on a hill waiting to watch a formation of 5 F-series fighter-bombers to come in to take their targets as they had been ordered to do. This was the second of 7 raids that targeted the home areas of some of the 3 trouble-making Vietcong clans- myself knowing what was under the tree canopy and me receiving aerial pictures to show the pilots where to put their bombs.My aim was to injure or kill people close to the leaders of the 3 trouble-making clans not the leaders themselves so that they could stop the others- in other words terrorize them into becoming peaceful, which they did.

    The formation came in, dropped to attack level, but then one pulled up and went into the direction of the sea. That was John McCain- myself and each of the four pilots left in formation signed sworn statements that said John McCain deserted in battle. At first opportunity the United States Navy arrested John McCain on three charges: 1. Cowardice In The Face Of The Enemy. 2. Willful Disobeying An Order Of A Superior Officer(For throwing a paper away that he had been ordered to read by the Commanding Officer of the ship he was stationed on, that officer had ordered me to watch John McCain to see what he did. I signed a sworn statement about what he did/didnot do). 3. Willful Disobeying An Order Of A Superior Officer(for not hitting the targets as he had been ordered to do). John McCain was arrested and charged after being held in Hanoi City Jail(sign in English on top of the building).

    I watched John McCain fly towards the sea but then turn to the north- I would soon know why he did that. When the admiral’s helicopter that was assigned to me picked me up I was taken to a field in Hanoi- a 3/4 square mile field that had been clearted by the US Navy’s Seabees. I saw John McCain’s plane it had been shot down by an anti-aircraft gun installed by the US Navy’s Seabees and two US Army personnel. The paper that John McCain threw away was a notice that two anti-aircraft guns had been installed there. If a-hole John McCain had read it he would not have been shot down and he would not have shot 18 people there in that field as they sowed seeds, seeds given to them by the USA. 11 of the 18 died there in the field, 9 were citizens of Hanoi so John McCain was arrested and charged with 9 counts of murder with premeditation( about a week before I had heard a very-drunk John McCain say: “I am going to kill some Cong”. The people killed by ignorant John McCain were not Vietcong- they were citizens of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, a country who had signed a mutual-aid treaty with the USA, President Truman signing for the USA and Ho Chi Minh signing for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

    I walked to the Hanoi City Jail to see John McCain. I say here that the infamous Hanoi Hilton had been torn down about two weeks before John McCain went on his murderous rampage- he just plain lies that he was a POW in the Haoi Hilton. He just plain lies that he was a POW- he was arrested for and tried and convicted and inprisoned on 9 charges of premeditated murder by a civilian jury(not an ordinary jury- every one was a graduate of Harvard Law School), also the judge and the court clerk and the prosecuting attorney and the defending attorney- better professional people than here in the USA in my opinion.
    A note: when I entered the Hanoi City Jail I heard John McCain call the jailer a bunch of names, including a very racist name- squinty eyes. When I heard that I said to the jailer- “You can keep the mad dog(John McCain). Do you have a human being I can take back?” The jailer motioned to me to follow him and said “An angel….. Two angels” I took back two US pilots that had been shot down by small-arm fire- they appreciated life. John McCain sufferedin the Hanoi City Jail from his own idea of self worth being confined. While there Coward John McCain tried suicide two times.

    Bobby Dias
    AKA Robert A Dias, Formerly US Navy

    He’s a regular Forrest Gump. President Johnson offered him a promotion to colonel once, but he turned it down, according to more of his writings;

    When President Johnson offered me an officer’s commission with full colonel after 6 months I refused, saying that an officer’s life would slow me down in times of emergencies of which I was best at. He agreed, saying that he sometimes wished the generals would get to work instead of wasting time kissing his rear. So, I was an enlisted man in the United States Navy- pay grade E-3, Seaman. Think of that sometimes when I speak of what I did when officers were effectively out-ranked by me- I remember two admirals watching me take a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier out of Tokyo Harbor- something I was qualified for but they were not after all their years experience(at the Officers’ Club?). When I started my active duty one admiral did try to “grab” me to his flagship but President Johnson hijacked(his term) me to the USS Paul Revere, saying that the Paul Revere was better for me than sitting while the other ship was being repaired (USS Forrestal, the ship John Mccain almost sunk all by himself. Isn’t he great!).

    He also hates the traditional use of punctuation.

  • Chris Ford; the secret MP

    Chris Ford; the secret MP

    Our partners at Military Phonies share their work on the Chris Ford person with us. Mr Ford created a persona to help him sell what he calls non-fiction books about his time as a military secret policeman. He claims participation in the Global War against Terror and that he interviewed Saddam Hussein. He was recruited by the Army to attend a class of “Military Secret Police” – one of 143 classmates in a one-time block of instruction. There were only 21 graduates and only three survived their assignment, Mr Ford being one of them.

    Here’s a closer look at that DD214 forgery;

    If you can’t spot the things that make it an obvious forgery, Military Phonies provides a helpful outline;

    His actual records say that he spent three years on active duty from 1986 to 1989. He spent his time in Germany as a regular old (non-secret) MP, writing traffic tickets and bashing the heads of drunken privates returning from a night on the town in Nurenburg and Grafenwöhr.

    So in one night on the Stolen Valor network he went from Jack Reacher to Kyle (Barwan) Reacher.

  • Kaneya Souvannasing; phony special forces

    Kaneya Souvannasing; phony special forces

    Our partners at Military Phonies send us their work on this Kaneya Souvannasing fellow. He claims that he served in the Army as a sergeant in Special Forces for ten years;

    The truth is that he spent about 2 1/2 years in the Army as a 13 Foxtrot FISTer (Fire Support) not a special forces MOS (Military Occupational Specialty). He had a deployment to Korea, but no trips to the war against terror.

    It looks like he had some discipline problems since he left the service as a private (E-1) with an abbreviated career.

  • James Shippey; phony POW

    James Shippey; phony POW

    AverageNCO spotted this fellow, James Shippey, in his local Anderson, Indiana Herald Bulletin.

    When Diana Shippey married Jim Shippey 30 years ago, she wasn’t exactly sure what she was getting into.

    Over the years, she has helped her husband, who served in the Army in Korea in 1952, did five tours of Vietnam between 1964 and 1973, and spent 52 months as a prisoner of war in Hanoi, fight off nightmares.

    “I wish I had been there and been a part of his life before it was all over. I could have been there for him sooner,” said the Elwood native who now lives in Alexandria.

    So it turns out that Jim has been busted before by the old POW Network, countless times between 2004 and 2007, and now he’s back;

    Shippey claims that he served in the Korean War and in Vietnam, that he began his service in 1951. Yeah, no. He served in Vietnam – twice – but he enlisted in 1955, two years after the armistice in Korea. He retired in 1976. He claims that he has three Silver Star Medals, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Star Medals, five Purple Heart Medals but none of that s true. He has one Purple Heart, not five, and no valor awards. He does have a Combat Infantryman Badge because he was assigned as an 11 Foxtrot in Vietnam (Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist) during his two tours of the war in 1967 and 1972;

    He’s not listed at DPAA as a recovered POW;

    Yeah, this one is a head scratcher.

  • Sid Allen Sanden; phony POW

    Sid Allen Sanden; phony POW

    This fellow Sid Sanden was passing himself off as a Vietnam Era POW with 28 days in captivity until folks saw the picture of him on Facebook.

    The problem is that most surviving POWs know each other and no one knew this fellow so they busted him out;

    But he’s still not telling the truth – he told them that he was in the Marines for three years. Nope. Less than 11 months. He got out in May 1961 so he never went to Vietnam, either. Like a healthy dump, these things aren’t over until the paperwork is done. It took a year in this case to get the paperwork done;

  • Douglas Dietrich; Crank

    Douglas Dietrich; Crank

    For some reason, Douglas Dietrich has decided to attack us. Someone recorded one of his radio rants the other day and he claims that we at TAH are satanists who are preparing the world for Satan to take over the planet somehow. We wrote about him and his insanity last year. In this radio rant, he tells us that his father was in the Navy when US forces were actually repelled at the battle for Okinawa and they had to evacuate all the way back to California in a “Normandy Invasion in reverse”. His father witnessed the evacuation, even though his father spent the entire war in Rochester, New York. The US troops were beaten by the Kamikaze, the Divine Wind caused by the souls of the Japanese pilots.

    He goes on tell the story that his father witnessed when John McCain destroyed his ship with an errant missile firing – then McCain defected to the North Vietnamese who welcomed him with open arms. The problem with his story, besides the obvious, is that Dietrich’s father retired from the Navy in 1965 and couldn’t witness anything that happened during Vietnam. His father’s records;

    He goes on to tell of his derring-do during the Gulf War in the Marine Corps – the problem with that part of the story is that Dietrich was an entry-level discharge after three months of service two years before the Gulf War;

    That’s when he breaks into his rant about TAH and our plans for the coming of Satan. Somehow, taking on Paul Reickoff is part of that plan. Anyway, here’s the radio show presented for your entertainment. The person who sent the audio helpfully put in buzzer sounds after every lie. I was playing with my new Adobe Video Editor for the first time, so be gentle in criticizing my editing skills;
