Here’s your weekend open thread. I’m working on some blog-related issues at the moment that I’ll tell you about later, so have a ball.

I’m on my way to upstate New York myself for our annual family reunion so behave yourselves this weekend.

This weekend’s open thread is brought to you by one of our countless nameless ninjas who sends us a link to information about the Dickin Medal;
In 1917 Maria Dickin founded an animal charity People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) in the United Kingdom. During WWII she introduced the Dickin Medal which honors the bravery and devotion to duty of animals in wartime. The medal is considered to be the animal equivalent of the British Victoria Cross. Recipients of the award have included pigeons, dogs, horses, and a cat.

This weekend’s open thread is brought to you by Hack Stone;
July 29…is what we at Stately Manor refer to Frank Stallone Eve. In case you did not know, Frank Stallone was born on July 30, 1950. Some may consider him to be the Lesser Stallone, but this triple threat (actor, singer, songwriter) is head and shoulders above Sly. Well, he is an inch taller, so that should count for something.

Weather the Storm

Waiting for a storm to pass in Utah’s Zion National Park paid off for Your Shot member RJ Hooper, who submitted this image of a rainbow stretched across a golden, post-tempest sky. “A brutal autumn thunderstorm rocked the higher elevations of Zion,” he says. “I hunkered next to some bushes to wait out the storm, [and] it paid off!”
I’m in Martinsburg doing VA stuff when this posts – have a ball!
ADDED: This came in after the Open Thread posted;

![By a Thread Photograph by Kieron Nelson, National Geographic Your Shot In northern Pakistan’s Hunza region, travelers cross what’s often called the most dangerous bridge in the world: the Hussaini Hanging Bridge, which looks almost as unforgiving as the landscape around it. “[The bridge] is extremely old and very narrow,” photographer Kieron Nelson writes. “Situated high above [Borit Lake], it is missing many of the original wooden planks.”](https://www.azuse.cloud/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/hussaini-bridge-pakistan_95238_990x742-444x333.jpg)
So, here’s the best email I’ve read all week;
COMES NOW PLAINTIFF in pro per requesting as is my right that the Court schedule the Summary Judgment Motion regarding the Cause of Action in the First Amended Complaint regarding Negligence per se.
I have attempted to use the internet system to schedule hearings before you but was told by your clerk that a party who does not use a proxy to present the parties case may not use that system; only the proxies of parties may do so. In the past when I attempted to contact your clerk I have been unsuccessful. Due Process of Law requires that my petitions and motions be heard. Therefore, please instruct your clerk to schedule the Summary Judgment Motion immediately.

The Water’s Fine

A seal readies itself to dive into the waters near Dunvegan Castle on Scotland’s Isle of Skye. The pinnipeds are abundant along Scotland’s coastline—and can be quite photogenic.
The Dutch Rudder Club has a new tactic – they’re recruiting membership. Joe Cryer alerted us that he’s filing a law suit against us. Cryer said that Daniel Bernath is his lawyer, even though Bernath is not a lawyer.
Ric Bucklew filed a law suit against us in Mineral County, WV for libel and slander (not understanding the terms). It’s not going to go his way.
Robin Mitchell became aware of the club this week, though he hasn’t joined yet. Since they’re all falsely claiming to be SEALs, I posted a picture of a real seal for them to compare.
I need a beer – have at it.
