  • Republicans rush to surrender to That One

    I read this, at The Arsenal, by way of The Jawa Report;

    H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008
    To reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act.

    Who:

    Sponsor:
    Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL]
    Cosponsors [as of 2008-11-07]
    Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen [R-FL]
    Rep. Michael Ferguson [R-NJ]
    Rep. Christopher Shays [R-CT]
    Rep. Michael Castle [R-DE]

    It’s the same kind of crap we saw from the same bunch of idiots after the Republicans lost Congress in 2006 – mass defections to gain favor with their new overlords. All they’re doing making themselves feel good, anyway. Here’s the definition of an “assault weapon” according to the bill;

  • Veterans for Peace at the Archives

    Well, I’m back from my trip to the National Archives this morning and Vets For Peace still up there on the scaffolding. I asked three security guards separately if VfP been up there all night; one said he didn’t know, one said they had been up there all night and a third thought they were workers cleaning the building’s facade and didn’t know they were protesters until I told him.

    In the After Downing Street post yesterday, they quoted some guy who said he’d seen their banner from over two miles away – dude had good eyes. I parked a block away and didn’t see the banner until I got to Constitution Avenue across the street from the Archives;

  • Vets For Peace campout at National Archives…again (UPDATED)

    I’m getting reports that the Geezers for Peace are “occupying” the National Archives again. Of course, “occupying” to them doesn’t mean taking over the building or anything. it means they’re standing on a ledge like they always do. I can’t find pictures yet, but there are some from the last “occupation” my previous post about their last shot at a measure of relevance back in September.

    Actually, they claim that they’ve climbed 90 feet of scaffolding and standing on the roof this time, taking advantage of the fact that most of the cops in town are providing security at the G-20 meeting about a mile down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Archives. Well that’s what I hear anyway. They plan on being up there until Monday – if that’s true, I may go down there tomorrow and get some pictures.

    Their stated reasons for camping out on the roof of a Federal Building is to “insure Bush and Cheney are arrested” – you know, the standard horseshit line of these delusional children. All they’re really doing is trying to draw attention to themselves.

    My sources also tell me that belly-licking Matthis Chiroux, the notorious deserter and pretend victim of water-boarding for Maoist organizations is on the roof, too. I hope no one gets hurt and Matthis has to lick their owies. Chiroux is still calling himself “an Army Sergeant who served in Afghanistan” – he always leaves out the “for six days, give or take a few hours” part.

    To my joy, there’s rain predicted all night and the temperature will drop to 44 by morning. Maybe Matthis will discover what it’s really like to be a soldier finally.

    UPDATED: Gateway Pundit picked this up last night, too, a few hours behind my mole at IVAW. Here’s the only picture so far;

  • Stupid moonbat pranks (and the dolts who fall for them)

    If you read Army Sergeant’s comment below about the “Yes Men”, you’re probably wondering to what she referred. Our buddy, DanNY wrote about it a few days ago. Well, these goofballs “Yes Men” printed a fake New York Times (odd, but the fake NYT is virtually indistinguishable from the actual newspaper in appearance as well as content) with this headline;

    There were also stories about a national healthcare system approved by Congress, news that some international organization will try President Bush for war crimes, an end to corporate lobbying, pay caps for CEOs, and a myriad of similar fake stories. Then the “Yes Men” went out on the street and interviewed the dolts who “knew change is coming, but I didn’t expect it so fast”. The video;

  • Code Pink – our new State Department

    Last night I wrote that Code Pink had single-handedly brought us peace in our time (an intentional reference on my part to Chamberlain’s pronouncement) by handing out apple pies, flowers and cards to the embassies of Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, Iran and Bolivia. In the event you thought I was kidding, I found these pictures this morning;

  • Code Pink’s deep delusion

    My latest email from the hags at Code Pink celebrates the end of “the war” – whatever war it is they’re talking about. Somehow, they figure that because Barack Obama has been elected, the troops will be on their way home on January 20th and the thugs who want us all dead will somehow have a change of heart because the Pinkistas delivered apple pie, flowers and cards to their embassies (I kid you not – apple pies, flowers and cards) Here’s the email;

  • What they really think of us

    Ever wonder what Democrats think of you? Don’t care? Me neither. Much. But today we get some really good examples.

    From Newsbusters‘ Warner Todd Huston; the co-chair of Barack Obama’s Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, appeared on Meet the Press and reassured the nation that “Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one.” That’s what we want, right? A king to “rule” over us. Here’s the video;

  • Why we lost

    The American people trusted Republicans enough in 2002 to give us back Congress after the Leftists essentially undermined the will of the voters in the 2000 election with their double-dealing and convincing Vermont’s James Jeffords to jump across the aisle giving Democrats a majority in the Senate.

    Senate Republicans squandered that second chance by allowing their own political ambitions to get in the way of doing their jobs for the country. Acting like their Democrat predecessors, they feathered their political nests with political goodies for their constituents and wasted their opportunity to make a real mark in the four years they had control of Pennsylvania Avenue.

    Hagel, Lott, Frist, Chaffee, Voinivich, Snowe and Collins all let their personalities dominate the Senate rather than their duty. Instead of convincing Americans that we can do the job better than the government in our own lives, they bought our votes and stood against the party and the American people at every chance.

    When fighting the war, enforcing our laws and cutting government should have been the focus of the Senate, instead every day became a new battle between the White House the Senate.

    The Democrats turned it into a battle for the last two years between Congress and the White House – folks just gave up on it all. Congress did absolutely nothing except pass legislation they knew would fail – and, oh, they passed a minimum wage hike that immediately caused the unemployment rate to rise.

    With Obama, people hope they can forget about politics for a while. He’s promised to take over all of the annoying little things they worry about – the war, the economy, the poor, the health insurance, gas prices, their mortgages, the banks – all of the things that crowd their simple little lives with darkness and discomfort.

    They made the choice they didn’t have to think about. They only have to look at the visage of Obama and see a reason to vote for him without listening to a word he says. They’re so intellectually shallow that they think their stupid 52 to 48 websites will make us feel better about losing our country’s soul. They think we’re just as shallow as they are.

    The argument against Obama was too complex for them to understand, but when couched in terms like “historical”, it was easy to understand. When Obama made it clear that they’re absolved of further responsibility by simply pulling the lever for him, it all seemed so easy to do, too hard to not do.
