  • ABC: Palin finds a way to be part of the story

    One of you sent me this link and I’ve been avoiding it all day – not because of any fear of ABC, but because it’s so easy;

    Sarah Palin, once again, has found a way to become part of the story. And she may well face further criticism for the timing and scope of her remarks. She is already taking heat for her use of the term “blood libel” (see today’s Tweets). In her video she notes, “President Obama and I may not agree on everything, but I know he would join me in affirming the health of our democratic process.” It remains to be seen exactly what Obama will say tonight, but White House aides say another goal of his address will be to lift the nation up in this moment, not sully it with politics.

    How hard was it to become part of the story when they were dragging Palin’s name around as soon as the shooting began. Yeah, she used gun sights on Gifford’s district and Gifford was shot. How many others did she use gunsights to mark their districts and they weren’t shot. Obviously, she was using the gun sight imagery because of the fact that the Left goes nuts over the fact that she’s a woman and she hunts.

    Over the past few days, a lot of undeserving people have been dragged into this. Take for example Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive who also has a blog titled “In the Crosshairs” who was taking some lightweight incoming fire.

    Dick Mac says: January 8, 2011 at 4:53 pm (Edit) Nice job supporting this campaign, Uncle J! It sure has been effective. You can’t use expressions like “lock and load” and imagery like “crosshairs” and pretend it is not a call for shootings. This was a call for shootings, and now they have begon.

    So I guess Jimbo found a way to make himself a part of the story, too, huh?

    But, Bernie Sanders didn’t find a way to make himself a part of the story, did he? What? You didn’t hear? Yesterday, before the victims of Saturday’s shooting had reached room temperature, Sanders sent this fund raising letter to prospective donors;

    Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country. I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.berniesucksdicksatthePearlclub.org. There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me. Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

    Did you know that Vermont’s gun laws are less restrictive than Arizona’s? Yet somehow Republicans are responsible for Arizona’s shootings.

    ABC went on;

    For Palin, the challenge is for her to decide who she wants to — or can — be. Does she want to be a uniter and a national leader instead of one of the country’s most polarizing figures?

    That’s hillarious. Before a word came out of her mouth when John McCain selected her to be his Vice Presidential candidate, the media and the Democrats (did I repeat myself there?) were using her to divide the country. Like they’d done to Hillary. Before the blood has congealed on the pavement in Tuscon, the Democrats and the media (there I go again) were already dragging her into the spotlight.

    This is how they recover from their defeat in the last election; trying to shame us into submission with their red hot vicious rhetoric and the imagery of a dead nine-year-old. Notice how quickly Joe dragged her limp corpse and her bereaved mother out in the comments on one post below.

    Is it possible for half of the country to jump the shark at the same time. To borrow from Jimbo; fucking pussies.

  • Duff’s latest a monument to incoherence

    TSO sent me a link to Gordon Duff’s latest missive at Veterans Today entitled “MURDER IN ARIZONA-MORAL FLEXIBILITY AND RELATIVISM“. Yeah, um sure. But that title is the most coherent part of the whole thing.

    Somehow, Jared Loughner because he was hired (by God knows who) to assassinate Gabrielle Gifford because she converted to Judaism and refused to toe the Israel line. Somehow Barbara Olsen, who the rest of us think was killed when her flight crashed into the Pentagon is involved and it ties into the case of John C. Wheeler whose body was found in a landfill.

    What is the story here? Politics gone bad, gun nuts or another of the seemingly endless string of “Manchurian Candidates,” another “three name killer” to add to the string of equally artificial “just add water” terrorists.

    Yeah, three names, that’s the key. Why didn’t the rest of us think of that? We should preemptively incarcerate everyone with three names. I guess that leaves Cher and Sting to guard us.

    Would you guys do me a favor? If I ever get this incoherent, would you tell me. Please.

  • Arizona pass Funeral Protection Bill and other related items

    With the news that the West Baptist Church intention of picketing the funerals of the victims of the shooting to include 9 year old Christina Taylor Green the Arizona State government has passed a Bill that that would keep the West Baptist Church members at least 300 feet away from the funeral site. The local populations have also pledge to help in this effort in keeping the picketers away.

    “Protesting or picketing outside the funeral of an innocent victim is despicable,” said House Speaker Kirk Adams. “It’s time to bring Arizona in line with the many other states that protect the sensitivities of victims against groups that use fear and hate to denigrate the lives of Americans.”

    Adams sponsored the emergency measure that prohibits people from picketing or protesting within 300 feet of any residence, cemetery, funeral home, church, synagogue or other establishment during or within one hour of a funeral service or burial service.

    The House and Senate passed the bill unanimously Tuesday. Gov. Jan Brewer signed the measure Tuesday evening.

    One bit of good news is that the doctors are expecting a full recovery of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

    TUCSON, Ariz. — U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was breathing on her own and moving both arms after being shot in the head, doctors said Tuesday.

    Giffords still has a breathing tube to prevent infections such as pneumonia, said her neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Lemole.

    “I’m happy to say that she’s holding her own,” he said.

    Giffords, a three-time Democrat, remained in critical condition at Tucson’s University Medical Center since Saturday when she was shot during a meeting with constituents outside a grocery store. The attack killed six and injured 14 others. Six remained hospitalized.

    Giffords previously raised two fingers with her left hand and gave a thumbs-up when responding to doctors’ verbal commands.

    Although her condition has remained virtually unchanged the past few days, doctors were hopeful.

    “She has a 101 percent chance of surviving,” said trauma chief Dr. Peter Rhee said. “She will not die. She does not have that permission from me.”

    Also had a question about the weapon that the shooter used and the claim that it was a 31 round clip and who can buy them. Anything about this still being current?

    The select-fire version of the Glock, called Glock 18, available only in 9mm Luger and only for Military / Law enforcement sales. Glock 18 could fire single shots or three-shot bursts. Glock 18 may be equipped with 31-rounds extended magazines and after-market folding stocks. For security reasons, some parts of the Glock 18 ARE NOT interchangeable with Glock 17/19 pistols. The theoretical rate of fire in full-auto mode is 1200 rounds per minute.

    Now here is a WTF for the day. I warn you that anyone holding any drinks, food, or anything that is unbroken that would like to keep them unbroken to put them away now.

    Ready? Your sure?

    The West Baptist Church Protesters are really Tea Party members. Not even kidding.

    Conservative Tea Party Activists from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas say they will picket the funeral of Christina Greene, the 9-year-old girl who was murdered in cold blood during the Tea Party sponsored assassination rampage in Tucson, Arizona last weekend.

    Huh?

    Some Tea Party activists have pledged to use the money they raise to help defend the killer in court. Many Tea Party activists are calling Loughner a “hero.”

    I would like to know who has said anything close to this.

    The Tea Party movement and their violence must be stopped. While many in Congress are now calling the Tea Party movement a “moment,” specifically because of the Tea Party sponsored Arizona assassinations, we nevertheless need to hold these lawbreakers accountable for their actions. To be sure, criminals who support the Tea Party and their violent acts are NOT Americans. They are NOT patriots and they are NOT democratic. Rather, they are no less than the terrorists who attacked this country on 9/11. No wonder Tea Party activists will be picketing the funeral of 9/11 icon Christina Greene. Tea Party activists are terrorists themselves.

    WTF

  • President Obama, Why Have You Forsaken Your Promise to Close Guantanamo?

    In the Huffington Post today, Bianca Jagger, some popular culture relic from the 80s, wonders “President Obama, Why Have You Forsaken Your Promise to Close Guantanamo?

    She chronicles the number of times Barack Obama has promised to close Guantanamo and turn loose it’s orange-clad denizens on the world;

    When President Obama was elected, he electrified people throughout the world, particularly the human rights community, by using his second day in office to issue executive orders to close the Guantánamo detention center and end torture and secret detention.

    The order authorized: “The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than one year from the date of this order”.

    Of course, the short answer is that it’s a damn sight easier to make promises and write proclamations than it is to actually do stuff.

    Hasn’t Bianca noticed that in her long life, and on several other campaign promises Obama made and can’t keep? Of course, she comes from arguably the poorest nation on earth, Nicaragua, and Jagger supports the bloody communist Ortega regime while she sits in relative comfort in her British home and snipes at democracies around the world and ignores the human rights abuses in her former home. But there’s no money in reforming a poor nation, is there?

  • Tuesdays with Claymore; the sick to my stomach edition

    It seems that even our Claymore can’t stay on the Democratic Underground discussion boards for long today;

    Guys, I was going to send a bunch of DU threads, but frankly, I can’t stomach what they’re discussing today. Here’s one sample:

    That’s just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

    I’ll just add this from our former friend Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs to show just far he’s fallen;

    Following the mass murder in Tucson, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik bravely stood up and called for an end to violent political rhetoric — and for this statement he is now being viciously attacked by the right wing, and calls for his resignation are being heard.

    Yeah, Dupnik stood like a cowardly politician and dipped his fetid toe in an area where he clearly doesn’t belong. Folks hire law enforcement personnel to enforce the law (which he clearly didn’t in this case) not preach to us.

  • Right Wing News’ 40 Most Obnoxious Quotes of 2010

    Our buddy, John Hawkins sent us a link to his “40 Most Obnoxious Quotes of 2010“. Here are some samples/my favorites;

    40) My fear is that the whole island (of Guam) will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize. —
    Hank Johnson

    31) If you’re blaming Muslims for the attack on 9/11, then you need to change your mind. Did we blame Christians at the first World Trade attack? We didn’t! — Russell Simmons

    27) Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower…. — Barack Obama

    24) I was trying to think about who (Obama) was tonight. It’s interesting: he is post-racial, by all appearances. I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. — Chris Matthews

  • Unhelpful birthers

    The Washington Times reports that birthers in the House gallery yesterday shouted out their disapproval of the President and his questionable birth location and documentation;

    The reading of the Constitution in the U.S. House of Representatives was interrupted Thursday by a woman who shouted, “Except Obama, except Obama,” to the venerable document’s words on a U.S. citizen’s eligibility to be president.

    Just as Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., New Jersey Democrat, was reading “no person, except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States” is eligible for the presidency, a woman in the visitors gallery yelled out that it did not apply to President Obama.

    Rep. Mike Simpson, Idaho Republican, who was presiding over the House, banged the gavel and halted the proceedings, warning that such action from members of the public was a violation of House rules. The woman was quickly removed by Capitol police.

    How could she think that was helpful? How could anyone? I only wish there had been some stocks on the west lawn of the Capitol where the police could have locked her in and the rest of us could walk by and ridicule her for a few days.

    Can we let Code Pink be the uncouth inbreds who cause commotions for the sole purpose of causing a commotion?

  • Burnpit corrects Duff…again

    Some guy named Mothax took on Gordon in respect to the war memorial in San Diego;

    Couple of folks sent me a link to Gordon Duff’s attack on The American Legion, and there is so much wrong with it I figured I had best correct it.

    We should start with the title:

    GORDON DUFF: AMERICA’S CRUXIFIED VETERANS

    Fact: there is no such word as “cruxified”. Then again, this is a man about to honor the one year anniversary for his calling for Treason charges to be levied against the Supreme Court, so some latitude must be made.

    This week, a 3 judge panel, the 9th Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, found that the cross, in itself, is not properly representation of American war dead.

    Fact: That is not a sentence. It reads like one of the innumerable emails I get from the wealthy widows of deceased wealthy folks in Africa offering me a generous portion of funds from some secret account in Sierra Leone. I think what he was trying to say was “This week a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit found that a Latin Cross is not representative of all American war dead.” Just a guess though, I honestly have no clue.

    A 40 foot cross in San Diego, was the subject this time, millions spent on lawsuits, reported in every paper, just as with the Mojave Cross, to rusty pieces of pipe shown in the adjacent photo.

    Fact: See above; not English, no clue how a Cross (that is not made of pipe) spent millions of dollars.
