  • Irony Writ Large

The older I get the more Irony I see.  Likely it was always there. but it does seem rampant just now. I won’t explore all of those details here, but…

This article : “Russia at U.N. accuses U.S., allies of bossing world around!” simply reeks of irony.

Once I get past the notion that this current administration with its feckless foreign policy choices could be called a sort of bullying I’m left with the Pot/Kettle/Black element.

After the headline the article is more coherent than the Russian rep, but…

  • Oh Good. We Get THE REAL version of The Snowden Story.

Before you read further, I DO think Snowden did us all  a favor. I did not realize how deep the government was into my underwear, AND I haven’t found yet where his disclosures cost lives like some.

Having Oliver Stone weigh in with a movie about the events is a bit iffy though.

    The STAR:

    Heh

  • Huh? Oh Well…

There are polls, and then there are polls.  Rasmussen has a nominally fine reputation, but,

While Great Britain is holding its breath today to see if the Scots vote for independence, most Americans (51%) have no opinion about the referendum and only 33% think most of their fellow countrymen can even locate Scotland on a map.”

I’ll admit I’ve been watching this thing with a certain sense of wonder, AND I CAN find Scotland on a map.

This astute lot at TAH might have a different view, but I hope it passes. I believe there are a coupla states here exploring a similar idea. And part of Spain, etc.

The door may be opening? Rupert Murdoch has an opinion too.

    I dunno.

  • 2 + 2 =

I reckon I never quite figured the whole PC thing would get this far:

As reported earlier this week, Teach for America groups across the country are committing themselves to “culturally responsive teaching,” a radical pedagogy used by communist Bill Ayers and other blatant anti-American indoctrinators.

“The site, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Teach for America, says that because math is seen as a domain for old, white men, many students cannot identify with it. Therefore, educators should find ways to relate math to the lives of their students.”

  • When All Else Fails?

Jonn and I had a disagreement some months ago…. Turns out he was right, in large part.

BUT,  Jonn is not the reason I’ve been scarce here.

I need to share this –  because it has been consuming my on-line time.

There is a FB group that is my new home.

Look it up if you happen to care about old Navy guys.

  • Climbing a Mountain – 16 July 1969

45 years ago today a thing happened.  Three MEN left Earth with goal of climbing to the moon.  As many did,  I watched them begin their climb safely from in front of a TV here on Earth.

A few days later I also watched them put bootprints on The Moon.  I was in awe, as were many.  I also relished their safe return.

The other Moon missions came and went with less fanfare.  BUT we had done it! YES!  WE had done it as a country as well.

Some time later I had the pleasure of working with some that had supported those missions from Hawaii.  We were gearing up for The first Space Shuttle launch.  They had only been able to listen over the NASA loop back then,  and had never seen a launch in real time.  Mainland TV was delayed until later.

Later we newbies asked about how they felt. They swung the dish ON the moon to look at some experiments still there…  And said WE helped to do that.

Now we depend on The Russians to carry warm bodies into orbit, etc.

  • Body Slam

History may be repeating itself… Yet again?

    There IS this:

  • Not With A Whimper, But a Growing Roar

There are few here who haven’t heard about Agent Orange.  This post may highlight a new aspect for some.

However, there IS a sort of sidebar to the primary discussion. It has to do with the “Blue Water Navy”  operating in The Gulf of Tonkin.

There is a growing body of evidence that we were exposed by simply drinking distilled water and showering in the same when our saltwater intakes sucked up the run-off from shore.

I won’t bore you folks with the studies and press clippings about Congressional Bills pending here. But after decades the pendulum is swinging. Considering the current state of of the DVA and the congress inability to do much useful my hopes ain’t high for a resolution, BUT the clamor is growing.
