  • Tuesday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends today’s feel good story from Vegas, baby! It’s just a short article, but good things come in small packages, they say;

    According to police, a man broke into a home in the 3600 block of Marmalade Lane at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

    The homeowner was in the home at the time and shot the burglary in the chest, police said.

    The homeowner then left the home and called police. The burglar was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

    I guess we’ll have to wait to see if the burglar will have turned his life around or if he’ll continue to live on the tax payers’ dime.

  • Monday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us a link to today’s feel good story which comes to us from Pennsylvania for a change. It seems that Curt Stein, 49 came home and found Zachary Foster, 18, changing his life in Curt’s home;

    “The homeowner arrived home after being gone from the residence. Upon arriving home, he was met by a male intruder who was at his residence. The homeowner and the intruder got into a physical confrontation. The homeowner subsequently shot the intruder,” according to the report.

    The intruder was pronounced dead by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Scott Clews, according to Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan, who was called for comment Saturday night.

    A brief story for Zachary’s brief life.

  • Sunday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us another tale to send tingles down your legs. This one is from Florida and involves a Domino pizza guy who was counting the evening’s take after a delivery. He was approached by an enterprising youth seeking to turn his life around with a knife demanding money and threatening to kill the pizza guy;

    [Byron Park, a Domino’s employee] pulled out his firearm and fired once toward Kelly, who was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

    “Preliminary evidence in the case demonstrates that the intended victim of the robbery acted in self-defense while being robbed by a violent criminal who was armed with a knife,” said Sheriff Wayne Ivey. “The suspect in this investigation was released from prison in 2009, after serving a reduced sentence for similar violent crimes.”

    Police say that 32-year-old Fredrick Kelly Jr. had a long history of attempts to turn his life around in a similar fashion.

  • Saturday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends a link from Alabama to make you feel good today when three people tried to turn their lives around by helping themselves to someone else’s property, until an alert property owner thwarted their plans with his evil gun;

    According to [Chief Deputy Randy] Christian, deputies responded to a burglary-in-progress call around 6 p.m. at a home in the 6000 block of Blue Creek Road. Upon arriving, authorities learned that trio had broken into three storage buildings and three vehicles before the gun-toting property owner confronted the suspects, holding them at gunpoint until the authorities arrived to investigate.

    When first questioned about their alleged actions, the suspects told deputies that they had been given permission by “someone” to be on the property to collect scrap items. The owner refuted their initial claim, prompting the would-be burglars to change their story. They then said the homeowner’s donkey had managed to get outside of the fenced-in property and they were there trying to coax it back inside the fence with a cracker.

    Both alibis proved to be false and they were taken into custody then transported to the Jefferson County Jail. The suspects are each being held on bonds totaling $36,000.

    It was the damn donkey’s fault, well, that and they ran out of crackers.

  • Friday feel good story

    Bubblehead Ray sends us a link to a story that’s a little different this morning, but it still has the elements for a feel good story. It seems that down in Georgia’s Cherokee County three gentlemen were turning their lives around by carjacking an automobile from an innocent driver. During their getaway, one of the youngsters was busy pistol-whipping the victim in the back seat;

    Police say one of the suspects was pistol-whipping the victim in the back seat of the car when the gun discharged and wounded the getaway driver. The car crashed into a tree.

    Police say they believe a second suspect fled the scene on foot and a third was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for head injuries.

    An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, and the dead suspect’s identity has not been released.

    There’s no word on the condition of the actual victim, but a dead carjacker is always good news, regardless of who shot him.

  • Wednesday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us today’s feel good story from Virginia in which a woman turned a young man’s life around;

    [Lenville W.] Wilson is accused of attempting to steal from a woman, whose name was not released, who was alone at her Fiesta Drive home around 7:25 a.m.

    “He apparently came to the door and once she opened the door, he forced his way in and produced a knife,” Newman said. “He asked her for drugs or medication.”

    Newman said the man then ordered her around the home – the reason for the abduction charge – and at some point, the woman grabbed her handgun and began firing.

    Four shots were fired, Newman said. Two struck Wilson, one in his right shoulder and one on his left cheek near his ear.

    Mr. Wilson stumbled into the police station after discovering that self-doctoring isn’t as easy as they make it look in the movies. According to the article, WIlson had no record, well, until Monday, so he got his life turned around twice.

  • Tuesday feel good story

    Preston sends us a link to the story for today in which an elderly Bedford, Iowa couple turned around the life of a recent prison escapee;

    Authorities said Rodney Long forced his way into the couple’s home at 2609 Highland Avenue about 10:15 p.m. and held them for the next four hours.

    The couple said Long was armed with a semi automatic handgun. He had also taken their phones.

    The couple, ages 71 and 66, decided to defend themselves, authorities said. They were not seriously hurt in the incident.

    About 2 a.m., the couple called 911 to report the shooting. An Iowa State trooper was on the road nearby and responded immediately to the home.

    The trooper found Long dead face down on the kitchen floor of the couple’s home.

    Apparently, Mr. Long had shot a sheriff’s deputy earlier and the deputy is recovering from his confrontation with Long. So high-fives all around.

    Cobalt Blue sends a better link to the same story.

    Wendy (who says she lives near there and has been carrying a Glock around her house the last few days) sends us a video report;

  • Monday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends a link to today’s feel good story in the Tampa Bay Times about Vickie Rock who came to the aid of Cristy Vasilakos whose life Daniel Robertson was trying to turn around. Robertson, it seems was a but inebriated as well as adamant about something to the point of beating Vasilakos with a metal object.

    Ms. Rock heard the commotion and went out to investigate with her .45 caliber life changer in hand;

    When Rock tried to intercede, Robertson turned on her. Rock suffered several facial injuries before firing at least one round and striking Robertson, McKinnon said.

    Robertson, 56, staggered away and was found dead in the parking lot a few minutes later by deputies.

    Vasilakos had never met Rock before. She hadn’t realized Rock had a gun until it went off. Even then, she didn’t know how serious Robertson’s injuries were. “I had no idea he was dying,” she said.

    She understands why Rock fired, though.

    “She was doing her part,” Vasilakos said. “I feel like she stood her ground. He was on top of her when she shot him.”

    Of course, at least one of the doinks at Democratic Underground got it all wrong.
