    Chief Tango sends us a link to the story of yet another youngster getting his life turned around by a homeowner in Oakland.

    The violent confrontation happened about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday at the home in the 3100 block of Eastman Avenue near Brookdale Park.

    Police said the suspect, armed with a rifle, forced his way inside the home where he took a cell phone before confronting the resident, who was able to get a pistol.

    In an exchange of gunfire, the resident was wounded in the shoulder and the suspect in the torso, police said.

    The suspect was easily rounded up from his emergency room gurney. We wish a speedy recovery to the homeowner.

  • Thursday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us a link to a feel good story that doesn’t involve a gun, but it has the desired outcome. In Chicago, a homeowner heard some noises in his garage;

    The homeowner grabbed a knife from the house and went to the garage to check. When he got there, he saw an intruder come after him with a hammer.

    The fellow trying to turn his life around in Mark Hayes’ garage, said something to make Hayes think he had a gun and that he had an accomlice;

    Police said the two wrestled on the ground, and Hayes stabbed the intruder.

    “They came face-to-face, and that’s when he stabbed him,” said Melvin Hayes, the homeowner’s father.

    The intruder fled leaving a trail of blood all the way to the curb where he got a ride which took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

  • Tuesday feel good stories

    Chief Tango sends us a link to our feel good story today from Winnebago County, Wisconsin in which a woman opened fire on a man crawling through her window. I guess he left through the same window and more quickly than his manner of entry.

    It’s not clear if she got a hit on him.

    Ray sends us another from DeKalb County, GA where a couple of youths tried to turn their lives around by kicking in a homeowner’s door. He greeted them with a hail of lead;

    Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said Monday that a group of three teenagers backed a stolen car into the driveway of a Lithonia home and then knocked on the front door to check if anyone was inside. Parish says two of the teens then ran to the rear of the house.

    Police say the homeowner saw the teens run to the back of the house, grabbed his gun and opened fire when the teens kicked the door in. Parish says the wounded teens ran from the home and have been taken to a local hospital.

  • Monday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us today’s feel good story which happened today in Tulsa;

    Police say the homeowner confronted the burglar and saw a gun in the suspect’s hand, so the homeowner fired, hitting the man in the thigh.

    Officers arrived to find the suspect, identified as DeAngelo McBee, lying in the street with a gunshot wound.

    Police say the homeowner fired in self-defense so he will not be charged, but 18-year-old McBee will likely be charged.

  • Saturday Feel Good Story

    Dana sends us a link on our Facebook page to another feel good story from the Houston area in which a husband and his bank teller wife were kidnapped from their home and forced to rob a local bank while it was closed;

    [Sgt. Andrew Weido with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office] said the suspects then forced the husband to drive them in his truck south down Highway 71, and that’s when the husband of the bank employee was able to gain access to a firearm inside the vehicle.

    He fired at the suspects near County Road 101. Authorities then responded to a 911 call from the scene at 7:30 p.m. with the Columbus Police Department arriving first.

    When they arrived, officers found the two suspects with gunshot wounds lying on the ground near a pickup that was parked in a ditch.

    So the Kutach brothers were finally able to turn their lives around.

  • Friday feel good story

    Top W. Kone sends us a link to today’s feel good story, even though it happened earlier in the week. It seems that the local barber, Calvin Brown, in Columbus, Ohio turned around the life of a young man when the visitor asked for some free money;

    Calvin Brown said a man demanded his money and went to reach for a gun in his waistband. Brown said he then hit the guy and shot him. The robbery suspect collapsed at a bank across the street from the shop. He was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition. Brown has been running Mr. Brown’s Barber Shop on Cleveland Ave. for three decades. He refused to leave after being robbed last year.

    Mr. Brown closes with a warning for others;

    “Leave these senior citizens alone,” he said. “We ain’t playing. I’m serious. If they come knocking on my door, I got something for them.”

    Indeed.

  • Thursday Feel Good Story

    David sends us our feel good story about youths turning their lives around for today from Houston.

    Houston police said the man was on his porch drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette when he was approached by three armed suspects. They asked the man for his car keys and cash.

    Police said when the victim was about to give the men his keys, he opened a car door, pulled out a gun and fired at all three suspects.

    Investigators said one suspect was shot several times and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

    It’s messed up when you can’t enjoy your coffee and a smoke without dealing out some harsh justice early in the morning. Two of the “suspects” made good use of their “get away sticks” and did a Gadaffi by dropping their weapons while they made good their escape. But at least we know where one of them will be tonight.

  • Your Tuesday feel good story

    Lerxst & Chief Tango send us links to today’s tale of impetuous youths turning their lives around, this time in San Antonio, TX;

    Investigators said three masked men kicked in the front door of an apartment unit and began to ransack the home.

    Police said one of the suspects grabbed the tenant, 21-year-old Dmitri Lawrence Brown, by the throat, forced him down, then put a hand over his eyes while the other two suspects attempted to steal jewelry from the apartment.

    As the suspects were leaving, Brown was able to get up and grab a gun, police said. He then shot and killed the suspect who had been holding him down, police said.

    Brown also opened fire on the other two suspects, but they fled in a silver Dodge Charger.

    Police said this all occurred with four children and their mother, 49-year-old Evangeline Tubig, inside the apartment. None of them were reportedly injured.
