    Action News spoke to a friend of the three men who lived there. He says the resident who opened fire felt like there was no other choice.

  • Monday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends a link to this morning’s feel good story comes from Florida where a man going to a convenience store was attacked by a hobo when he told the bum he had no money;

    Investigators said the man who was shot had approached a customer at the store, only identified as a man in his 40s, and asked for money.

    When the customer said he had no money and tried to leave, deputies said the man who asked for money began punching the customer in his vehicle, at which point the customer pulled out a handgun and shot him in the chest.

    According to the sheriff’s office, the shooter walked back into the store, told the clerk to call police and stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.

    Of course, other hobos are upset;

    “He never hurt anybody,” said the homeless man’s friend, who did not want to be identified. “He was trying to get hotel room money and trying to get by. He was a good guy.”

    Having been the victim of aggressive hobos, I say “good!”

  • Saturday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this time from Georgia where three fellows underestimated the woman on the other side of the door they tried to break down;

    According to the police report, the renter responded to a knock at the door and the suspects told her they were with the East Point Police Department.

    She cracked the door to take a look outside and that’s when police say the three tried to push their way inside.

    The resident, however, was ready with a handgun.

    […]

    Police say one of the suspects raised a handgun, but the woman fired first.

    “I heard three gunshots,” said neighbor Ramona Ferrell. “I knew it was gunshots. It was very close.”

    A juvenile suspect was grazed on the head and the backside. He ran, but police caught up to him quickly.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us some feel good stories for this morning. The first is from Georgia;

    The homeowner told Channel 2 Action News that he was interviewed by detectives for hours before being released. Two men banged on his door late Tuesday and forced their way into his home, with the first man screaming at him, the homeowner said.

    After he shot the first man, the homeowner watched the second man run away and get into a waiting car, Channel 2 reported.

    Tonight, police identified the deceased man as Michael Verucci, 30, of Marietta, Bowman said. Police do not expect to file charges in the case.

    The next story is from Kentucky;

    Officials say Jack Traughber came across two trespassers stealing from his property Wednesday afternoon. When Traughber saw that the pair of trespassers were armed, he shot one of the them. The suspect was taken to the hospital where his condition is currently unknown.

    Police say this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Simpson sheriff’s officers have responded to numerous burglaries at Traughber’s barn. Officials say they have even made a couple of arrests there in the past.

    Thursday morning feel good story

    This morning’s feel good story comes from California where a 22-year-old defended his siblings from a home invasion;

    Deputies say four siblings — ages 22, 18, 11 and 8 — were in the home just before 6 a.m. when the 22-year-old man heard the sound of someone breaking through a door, then saw a least two people in his home. The man got a handgun out of a safe and confronted the suspects. Deputies say the man and at least one intruder exchanged fire.

    The man was hit by multiple rounds, as were two intruders. One suspect died at the scene as the second suspect tried unsuccessfully to pull the first to a getaway vehicle.

    Another story comes from Chief Tango who sends us a link from Montana and it’s a little different because Christopher Michelotti was wanted by the United States Marshals Service’s Montana Violent Offender Task Force and he’d been wounded in a home invasion a few days ago. Police staked out his residence because he was reputed to be armed and dangerous;

    The residence was under surveillance when four people, including Michelotti, were seen leaving and getting in to a vehicle.

    Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued. The driver sped away through the Box Elder area, leaving the reservation. The Montana Highway Patrol and Hill County Sheriff’s Office were then notified.

    The chase continued northbound on Highway 87 into Hill County where the Montana Highway Patrol and sheriff’s units were waiting. Officers used stop sticks, but the driver continued to drive for some time on flattened tires through Havre.

    The suspects were eventually apprehended without further incident.
