  • Thursday Morning Feel Good Story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories this morning, the first is from Ohio which began as a home invasion and ended as a footrace, apparently;

    The attempted break-in happened around 2:30 a.m. According to police, three people tried to break into a home in the 4400 block of Grandview Drive.

    But police say the homeowner turned the tables, shooting one of the suspects in the neck.

    All three suspects fled the home and the suspect who was hit started knocking on nearby homes, looking or help.

    The other two suspects ran off without him and he was transported to the hospital.

    The next story comes from Colorado;

    It was Saturday morning just before 4 when authorities received a 911 call from a man saying he had shot an intruder. It happened in the 400 block of Maid Marian in Divide in the Sherwood Forest Subdivision.

    When deputies got to the scene, they found Camp dead with a gunshot to his head.

  • Wednesday feel good story

    OK, here’s a replacement “feel good story” approved by Chief Tango and ohio from St. Louis, where a husband and wife teamed up against the dudes who held a gun to the head of their daughter;

    Police said 31-year-old Terrell Johnson and 33-year-old Cortez McClinton approached a 17-year-old female outside her home while she was collecting some items from her car. Police said the men demanded she return to her home with them.

    The girl’s father saw what was happening, retrieved his gun and fired several shots at the suspects, striking both of them as they entered the home, police said. Police said the girl’s mother also fired shots at the two suspects.

    Johnson was pronounced dead at the home. McClinton fled the scene on foot and was later taken to a local hospital. He was listed in critical, but stable condition.

  • Tuesday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories this morning. The first is from Indiana;

    Police said Donny L. Sturgill, 30, of Peru, forced his way into the home at the 6400 block of North 400 West, near Denver, around 10 p.m. Saturday.

    The homeowner told police he shot Sturgill in self-defense. There was also a second person inside of the home at the time.

    The preliminary investigation indicates there was some kind of physical altercation between the residents and Sturgill, according to police.

    The report continues that the late Donny Sturgis had been arrested last year for stabbing someone and earlier this year for domestic violence and “criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon”. So I guess no one needed a crystal ball to see this final chapter in his life.

    The second story comes from Alaska;

    [A 25-year-old Fairbanks] man called troopers at 12:10 a.m. Saturday to report that he had shot at two intruders, who were later described by troopers as two men with whom the occupant was reportedly acquainted.

    A 32-year-old man arrived at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital a short while later “with multiple gunshot wounds,” according to a trooper news release.

    It was not immediately clear if a second person had been shot, however.

  • Monday morning feel good story

    Monday morning feel good story

    So our first feel good story for the week comes from Palm Beach;

    Aaron Francis Bayliss, 31, was shot and killed by the owner of the car he was allegedly breaking into, according to West Palm Beach Police. Neither the shooter’s name nor the specific circumstances that led up to the shooting have been released. Police would not say whether Bayliss or the other burglary suspect were armed.

    Just before 1 a.m., police say the shooter came out of the home and got into an altercation with Bayliss and the other man. Once the shooter fired at Bayliss, the other unidentified ran away and is still at large.

  • Sunday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story, but, it was kind of a mishap – not much to feel good about. It seems two fellows left a party and got lost on the way back in Las Vegas;

    Police say two men and one woman in their 20s were knocking on the door of what they thought was their friends house late last night. A man inside the home thought he was being burglarized.

    Police say he shot a handgun through the door and hit one of the men in the chest standing outside. The victim was sent to UMC with nonlife-threating injuries.

    So, target ID is important.

    Feel good story updated

    Ricky DeWayne Taylor

    Back in February, we wrote about Ricky DeWayne Taylor when he was shot by a homeowner while that homeowner was holding him for police and Taylor tried to jump the homeowner. Well, he went to court and pleaded guilty, and when the judge released him until sentencing, Ricky left the State;

    On January 21, 34-year old Ricky DeWayne Taylor of Century pleaded no contest to the charges against him, including burglary and grand theft. Judge Michael Allen allowed Taylor to stay free on bond until his February 20 sentencing hearing. Taylor fled the state and was arrested in late March by the Lafayette (LA) Parish Sheriff’s Office in on a misdemeanor charge of possession of stolen things.

    He was extradited this week back to Escambia County where he’s facing sentencing on the original charges plus new felony failure to appear charges. He’s being held this time without bond.

    Good idea, that no bail thing. It seems that he doesn’t respect the law much. The article goes on that now he faces charges for another burglary. The boy’s shit ain’t wired right. I think we’re going to hear from Ricky DeWayne Taylor again and the next time the outcome will be sadder.

  • Saturday morning feel good story

    Saturday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning this time from Texas;

    The male homeowner observed the individuals outside of his garage, and proceeded to wake up his wife. They retrieved firearms, and returned to near the garage, where the male homeowner asked all of the individuals for their identification and told them he was calling the police.

    A fight broke out in which the male homeowner and the white male were wrestling, and as the alleged burglar attempted to escape, both homeowners fired shots in his direction. The alleged burglar was struck in the buttocks area, most likely with a large caliber handgun.

    The alleged burglar was taken to a Tyler hospital by private vehicle, where he is being treated for the gunshot wound and is undergoing surgery. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Friday morning feel good story

    Parachutecutie sends us a link to our feel good story this morning, this time from Arkansas where they had a mall shooting that you won’t hear about on the news;

    Investigators said [Fadi “Frankie” Qandil, 34] confronted his estranged wife, Tabitha Qandil, 31, Grayson Herrera, 23, and Dustin O’Conner, 27, as the three were headed to the movie theater.

    “It was pretty scary,” Nelson said. “We were all pretty shaken up.”

    “The victim raised his shirt and showed a weapon within his waistband, began to pull the weapon. The other two were concealed handgun weapon carriers and they pulled their weapons, and there was an exchange of gunfire,” said Grubbs.

    An off-duty officer was working security inside the Malco, another off-duty officer was attending a movie, when both heard the shots and ran to the parking lot, according to Grubbs. The officers were able to disarmed Herrera and O’Conner.

    “There was obviously multiple gunshots that were exchanged in this parking lot. That’s very concerning, it’s very disturbing, considering it’s Saturday and a lot of traffic here,” said Grubbs.
