    Sunday morning feel good stories

    AW1Ed sends us our feel good stories this morning. The first is from Tennessee;

    [Alan] Miller was working at the dealership on Thursday afternoon when the would-be robber, who still has not been identified by police, entered wearing a mask and brandishing a gun. Two other people were inside the building at the time.

    […]

    Miller shot a man twice in the chest as he attempted to rob Miller Auto Sales, located at 4314 Rossville Blvd. Police say the shots Miller fired were in self-defense, and charges will not be filed against him.

    “If you, yourself or another’s life is in danger, you have the right to protect yourself,” said Chattanooga police Sgt. Scott Bales.

    Next up is Oklahoma;

    Eddie and Cindy Gilmore said they were sitting in their living room watching television, when all of the sudden they heard a loud noise behind them, and barely had time to turn around to see dark figures approaching, demanding they get down.

    “Three people ran in and grabbed my wife,” Eddie Gilmore said. “She stood up.”

    Eddie Gilmore says as his screaming wife was taken to a back room by a masked intruder who was holding a gun to her head, another intruder told him to get on the floor in the living room. “And I got over between the couch and the coffee table and when I did I went down and put my arm on the coffee table to kind of hide myself and I pulled the drawer open because I had a gun in there,” Gilmore said.

    That’s when, Gilmore says, he started shooting in every direction he could, hitting two of the subjects. The suspects fired back, but neither Eddie or Cindy were hurt.

    “They had a gun to her head,” Eddie Gilmore said, “They could’ve killed her and come right in here and killed me if I hadn’t had a gun.”

    Marshall County Undersheriff Danny Cryer said he thought Eddie Gilmore did what he had to do to protect himself and his wife.

    The reader who goes by “ohio” sends us a link from Philadelphia, where a good guy with a gun defends himself;

    Police say two men in their twenties got off the trolley at 56th and Lansdowne Avenue and headed toward Media and Conestoga when two other men approached and announced a robbery.

    One of the victims then reportedly pulled out a gun and shot those two robbers.

    “Unbeknownst to the robbers, the 27-year-old victim has a permit to carry…has his handgun with him,” Police Lieutenant John Walker says. “He’s able to draw his handgun, firing multiple times, striking both robbery suspects.”

    The bad guys, unfortunately, got off a shot and one of the victims was killed as a result.

    Saturday morning feel good story

    This morning’s story comes from North Carolina;

    Craven County Sheriff’s Captain, Joe Heckman, told us a 31-year-old male came up to the house on Pinecliff Road in Harlowe. He said, that man tried to engage in a conversation with the 71-year-old male homeowner. According to Heckman, the homeowner went back inside, and when the homeowner came back outside the younger male was still there. Heckman said a fight then happened.

    “The victim pulled out a gun, the 71-year-old pulled out a gun and shot the 31-year-old attacker,” said Heckman.

    He said the 31-year-old went to Carteret General Hospital before being taken to Vidant Medical Center.

    Neighbors say this is not the first time a robbery has been attempted at this house.

    “I know he’s been broken into one or two times before,” said Martin Donohue. “I’ve been to his house. From what he has actually done, he has fortified like his doors [and] windows because he’s been broken into before.”

    I’m yelling you youngsters, us old guys will just shoot you.

    Friday morning feel good story

    Claymore sends us a link to our feel good story this morning from Georgia;

    When he realized another man was trying to rob a west Cobb County bank, one customer took matters into his own hands, police said Wednesday.

    He grabbed a handgun from his car and ordered the robbery suspect down to the ground, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce. When officers arrived at the Wells Fargo on Mary Eliza Trace around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, they found one man holding a gun on another, Pierce said.

    Officers quickly learned what happened inside the bank, prompting the unnamed customer to assist with apprehending the suspect.

    Mark Lance Katchem, 25, of Chicago, presented a “demand note” to a teller, Pierce said. The good Samaritan customer, whose name was not released, followed Katchem out of the bank, according to police. After he ordered the alleged robber onto the ground, officers arrived and took over the scene.

    Thursday morning feel good story

    This morning we begin our tour of the country from Ohio;

    The homeowner, whose name and age have not been released, discovered two males inside his home. During a confrontation with the suspected burglars, the homeowner brandished a gun and fired at both of them, police said.

    One suspect fled the scene. The other suspect, a 19-year-old Cleveland man identified by the county medical examiner as Joseph W. Eason, was shot.

    An emergency medical crew drove Eason to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died.

    Next stop, California;

    An off-duty cop shot at a burglar during a confrontation at his home in Rowland Heights.

    The intruder fled the scene after the shooting at the 17000 block of Calle Aurora at around 12:18 a.m Wednesday, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

    The burglar was trying to leave in a vehicle when the off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer fired at the suspect. It is unknown how many shots were fired, but the the thief is not believed to have been injured.

    Then to South Carolina;

    “Yeah, the victim came face to face with the suspect,” Det. Rob Morell said. “The suspect kicked the door in as he was shutting the lights off and locking the door. So it was that close where he got struck in the head with the pistol.”

    The homeowner managed to grab his own gun and fire a shot at the suspect as he ran off, Morell said.

    Police searched the neighborhood off Archdale Drive, but did not find the suspect.

    It’s been a busy day for the forces of good fighting evil. The first story is from Tennessee;

    Where’s the story? PointsMentioned Map 4 Points Mentioned

    A short time later, Madison County deputies responded to McDonald’s in Hazel Green for a gunshot victim. Madison and Lincoln investigators determined the shooting victim at McDonald’s, Dustin Elmer Hood was tied to the Lincoln County home invasion.

    Eric Wesley Atchley, 26, was arrested and is in the Madison County Metro Jail. Dustin Elmer Hood, who was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, will also be taken into custody after he is released, investigators said. Both will be charged with aggravated assault.

    One of the miscreants is still on the loose, so keep an eye out, Tennessee.

    Next is Missouri;

    Upon arrival at the scene, deputies observed a male lying outside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene, as a result of gunshot wounds. The male later was identified by fingerprints as Ronald Lee Salmons Jr. age 45. Salmons resided at 13013 Dorsey Lane.

    According to witnesses at the scene, Salmons was armed with a knife and he had made forced entry into the residence located at 12945 Dorsey Lane, threatening the occupants inside. Salmons was then reportedly shot with a small caliber weapon, and retreated outside the residence where he collapsed.

    Now from New Mexico;

    After the shooting, a woman called 911 to report that her husband shot someone who was trying to break in. When police arrived at the home, they found a body lying next to a 6-inch knife.

    Police said the intruder was trying to gain access to the home and was shot after a brief struggle. They also said the intruder possibly caused a disturbance at a neighbor’s house down the street earlier in the evening.

    Finally, we stop in Alabama;

    Tim Foster said he noticed the burglary in progress on Monday morning and stepped into action.

    “I was standing here watching him, and he busted the window outside the house and I called 911,” said Foster.

    But Foster didn’t stop there. He was making sure this thief didn’t get away.

    “I took my gun and told him I was going to hold him at gunpoint ’til they got here. But when he came out he jumped in the car and took off. I shot his back tires out and I shot the back window out,” said Foster.

    Police were able to get the suspect before he even made it out of the neighborhood.

    There was a female in the passenger seat who might have been shot, but she’s out wandering around somewhere.
