Apparently, Everett Dutschke, was arrested after the Elvis impersonator, Paul Kevin Curtis was released. There was some kind of giant karate-nerd slap fight going on between them and Dutschke set up Curtis according to the Clarion-Ledger earlier in the week;
In court on Monday, FBI Special Agent Brandon Grant said Dutschke appears to have agreed to publish Curtis’ book, “Missing Pieces,” at some point. When he apparently didn’t, the two began to exchange emails “about who is the biggest liar,” according to the Daily Journal. Curtis’ parents also emailed Dutschke to tell him to back off.
Everett Dutschke, 41, was arrested about 12:50 a.m. Saturday at his Tupelo home in connection with the letters, FBI spokeswoman Deborah Madden said. The letters, which allegedly contained ricin, were sent last week to President Barack Obama, Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi and earlier to an 80-year-old Mississippi judge, Sadie Holland.
It looks like Dutschke might be a Republican, so there you go – that right wing terrorism thing that we’ve been warned about. I only say that because he ran against the son of Judge Sadie Holland (a target of one of his letters), Steve Holland who is a Democrat, so the math tells me that Dutschke might be a terrorist of the Republican variety – or just a nut with an axe to grind.
Houston in marginally safer today as reported by ABC30 in a link sent to us by UpNorth. It looks like a good friend provided overwatch while his friend was being robbed in his front yard;
As [the victim] got out of the vehicle, a gold Lexus SUV pulled into the driveway, blocking the victim’s vehicle.
Police say three armed male suspects got out of the back seat of the Lexus and confronted the resident. The suspects then demanded the resident’s car keys and personal items.
As the resident handed over those items, the suspects demanded to be led into the resident’s house. A friend of the resident, fearing for his friend’s safety, then fired shots at the suspect from inside the house. One of the suspects was struck and attempted to flee on foot before he collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two thieves bailed in their gold Lexus SUV which should make them pretty easy to spot. I hope the Houston cops are able to finish the job an armed citizen started for them with his privately owned firearm.
Ex-PH2 sends us a link to an NBC article which tells the story of a crowd in Denver assembled to protest federal laws by thousands smoking pot in the streets which turned violent yesterday;
Three people were shot and wounded at a pro-marijuana rally on Saturday, disrupting the first celebration of a symbolic drug culture holiday since Colorado voters legalized the recreational use of pot.
A man and a woman were each shot in the leg and a youth was grazed by a bullet, but the wounds were not life-threatening, Denver police said on Twitter. Officers were looking for two suspects in the shootings, which occurred as the rally was winding down.
“I heard five or six gunshots in quick succession,” said Cole Wagenknecht, 27, who attended the rally at a downtown park near the State Capitol. “That’s why I knew it wasn’t fireworks. Then everybody started to scatter and ran toward one end of the park.”
But, yeah, I’m thinking it’s the gun’s fault, not that it could be about illegal drug use, at a rally that has as it’s theme, protesting a law that everyone at the rally is breaking because marijuana is completely harmless, ya know? Guns, on the other hand are inherently evil. So, yeah, it couldn’t be the drug culture, has to be the gun.
According to Fox News, one of the suspects in the bombing at the Boston Marathon has been killed and the other has killed a police officer and stolen a car (the guy in the white cap, they say). That one is still on the loose;
State police spokesman David Procopio told news agency, “The incident in Watertown did involve what we believe to be explosive devices possibly, potentially, being used against the police officers.”
Fox News reporters on the scene cannot yet confirm these reports.
Earlier Friday, Cambridge police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s office said the MIT officer was responding to a report of a disturbance when he was shot multiple times late Thursday. He later died at a hospital. His name was not immediately released.
Procopio said the shooting took place about 10:30 p.m. outside an MIT building. The area was cordoned off and surrounded by responding law enforcement agencies, according to a posting on the university’s website.
Watching the local NBC News here, there was a press conference by the police who say they’ve shut down Watertown, MA, not allowing anyone in or out of town and they’ve told businesses to not open today. The local news also reports that both suspects have only been in the country for a year or saw and have international ties, but, again, there has been so much misinformation in this case, tale it all with a grain of salt.
From NBC4 in DC, this video taken with a cell phone of the shoot out at MIT;
UPDATE: The local CBS News reports that the second suspect is a 19-year-old Chechen named Dzhokar Tsarnaev. Bloomberg reports that one of the victims of the bombing helped identify the Tsarnaev brothers.
Here’s a video of Dzhokar, I think, not that you can understand him;
Fox News is saying that the brothers were here on a US taxpayer funded scholarship. So I guess the bombing was just their way of saying “Thanks, America”.
For some reason, MSNBC is saying he’s from Kzyrkistan.
CNN is interviewing a high school friend who thinks he was radicalized recently, that he was “forced” into terrorism.
CNN is reduced to reporting smells. CNN news chick; The police have their hands on the barrel of their guns…not the barrel…[pause]…the base of thier guns….
CNN reports that police are moving the media back and expanding their taped-off area. FBI’s HRT has arrived on the scene.
Fox reports that Associated Press talked to his father, in Russia, who said he is a 2d year medical student. He’s a “true angel“.
CNN is a bunch idiots. He just said that the older brother was “a boxer, a two-time Golden Globe winner”
CNN is pulling a Treyvon Martin thing – showing pictures of the misguided youth when he was a couple of years younger instead of the pictures of him robbing a convenience store or planting a bomb.
Meanwhile, MSNBC is trying to convince us that there is no terror network – that these two set off on their own to bomb Boston, which may well be the case, but stop driving so hard for the loop.
MSNBC is also reporting that a third suspect has been apprehended on a train to Connecticut.
According to MSNBC, the police found an unexploded IED at the train station in Boston which is why they shut down Boston.
Media is speculating that this video was posted to YouTube by the older brother on his account “The Emergence of Prophecy: The Black Flags From Khorasan”;
Bill Hemmer at Fox News says he heard shots fired, and something about an explosion near the Dunkin Donuts which solves the mystery, because, ya know, America runs on Dunkin. That’s been their target all along.
In regards to Sean Collier, the officer who was killed.
According to the New York Post, these are the two guys that the FBI is looking for in regards to the Boston bombing.
In the photos being distributed by law-enforcement officials among themselves, one of the men is carrying a blue duffel bag. The other is wearing a black backpack in the first photo, taken at 10:53 a.m., but it is not visible in the second, taken at 12:30 p.m.
“The attached photos are being circulated in an attempt to identify the individuals highlighted therein,” said an e-mail obtained by The Post. “Feel free to pass this around to any of your fellow agents elsewhere.”
The article also says the Feds have identified two others “but do not have enough evidence to make an arrest for Monday’s attack”. So, I keep flashing on Richard Jewel and the shoddy way he was treated Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. So I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions quite yet.
UpNorth sends us a link to the story of a man in Forth Worth, TX, who thought he was buying a cell phone from a Craigslist ad, but he took his gun and his CCW license, just in case. When 20-year-old Desmond Paige tried to rob him, the would-be victim shot him dead;
MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said paramedics told him that the robbery target “took out his gun, and he shot the alleged perpetrator in the chest several times.”
The man with the gun was shot in the arm. His injury was not life-threatening, Zavadsky said. It was not clear late Tuesday whether he was shot by Paige or shot himself, officials said.
I hope the Senate keeps this story in mind as they vote on gun control today.
David sends a link to the last chapter of the story of the life of 26-year-old Jeremy Scott Irvin of Fairfield, Ohio;
Smail Gueddari…heard his wife, who had been manning the cash register, screaming from the front of the shop.
Gueddari rushed from the back room to find a robber, with the lower part of his face covered by a makeshift black bandanna, pointing a handgun at his wife and motioning with it for her to empty the store’s cash register. When the robber spotted Gueddari rounding the corner, he fired a shot at the store owner, but the bullet narrowly missed him and instead struck two mannequins before lodging into a nearby wall.
So, Smail, drilled the shooter in the torso. Irvin grabbed some cash and tried to make a getaway but he didn’t get too far before he collapsed on the side walk outside the store with his ill-gotten booty.
Gueddari was quoted as saying ” I didn’t kill him; he killed himself.”
Since it’s Ohio, the prosecutor, Mike Gmoser, says he’s sending the case to a grand jury instead of showing some testicular fortitude and make a decision on his own.
What’s for a grand jury to decide? The punk shot first and was found by the police with the fruits of his illegal labors. I don’t know who is worse in this case, the dead thief or the prosecutor. Gueddari saved his wife and two-year-old son who was sleeping nearby. Things like that make someone defending themselves think twice about pulling the trigger – which could cost them their lives.
The careers of two gentlemen came to a timely end Friday morning when they, along with two friends picked the wrong house for a home invasion-type robbery, according to WGHP in North Carolina;
According to WTVD, one of the suspects, 20-year-old Xavier White, was later found shot on Martha Court. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died, the station reports.
The second suspect was found dead around 5:45 a.m. along the shoulder of the roadway in the 5400 block of South Sumac Circle, WTVD reports. The second suspect’s name has not been released.
The homeowner was also wounded in the exchange, the station reports.
WTVD reports that two others were identified, but unfortunately they are still alive and on the loose;
Saturday, detectives identified two additional suspects.
They are 24-year-old Lamyer Gorminie Campbell and 24-year-old Derek Rashaun Hair.
Both Campbell and Hair have been charged with first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit first degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The suspects were last known to be in a dark colored 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a North Carolina license plate AMC-6212. Police said Hair and Campbell should be considered armed and dangerous.
So those of you in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area should oil up and load up your guns in case they come into your neighborhood to do their Sunday morning shopping.
