    Shawn Hobel sues DA and police chief for slander

    In New Castle, Pennsylvania, Shawn Hobel was arrested for a robbery and he was shot by police during his apprehension. So he’s decided that he’s going to sue the district attorney because his parents hadn’t been notified of his injury before the DA mentioned it during a press conference. He says that the DA, Joshua Lamancusa, also accused him of 10 robberies.

    Hobel also filed a separate lawsuit against New Castle police Chief Bobby Salem for defamation. Both suits were written by hand and filed without a lawyer.

    He claims that he was only a suspect in two robberies.

    The press conference, called by Lamancusa, addressed an incident earlier in the day on Dec. 13 in which Shenango Township police had tried to pull over Hobel’s car after it allegedly was seen at a convenience store where a robbery had occurred. Hobel led police from multiple jurisdictions on a high-speed chase through multiple counties. The chase ended on Interstate 376 in Union Township, when he pulled the car over and held a gun to the head of a woman inside, threatening to shoot her.

    A New Castle policeman in turn fired shots through the car window at Hobel and freed the woman. Hobel was hit by the gunfire multiple times in the chest and was hospitalized for his injuries. He was arrested upon his release.

    Police learned through the investigation that Hobel had used a toy gun — a plastic replica of a semiautomatic gun — in the incident.

    Oh, by the way, he’s been charged for another robbery since the incident that triggered the lawsuit. He was also on parole when the above incident occurred.

    Hobel claims in his complaint that Salem and Lamancusa caused him to lose close friends and loved ones and the trust and respect of the community because of what he claims are “false allegations.”

    Hobel claims in his filing to be a well-respected mason in the community and that comments that he attributes to Lamancusa and Salem will cost him numerous job opportunities. He further contends that his family “has been forced to suffer friends as well as the respect of the community,” and that he, himself, suffered “emotionally and mental agony.”

    I’d feel for him, but I can’t reach him.

  • Cop impersonator sexually assaults motorist

    Cop impersonator sexually assaults motorist

    One of our ninjas sends us a link to the story of a fellow impersonating a police officer in Downy, California driving a Black Crown Victoria, who pulled over a female motorist and “searched” her in a manner that could be interpreted as sexual assault;

    The man, described as Hispanic and in his early 30s, was wearing a dark-colored, long-sleeved uniform-style shirt and tan pants. He had on shoulder patches, a silver star-type badge and silver name tag, along with a black police-type utility belt with a pistol attached, according to CHP.

    His vehicle was a black four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria. It was affixed with a red-and-blue emergency light mounted inside the windshield by the rearview mirror, and a spotlight mounted at the left A-pillar, CHP stated. The front and rear side windows were tinted.

    The assailant was 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds and with a medium build.

    It’s a jungle out there.

  • Army says that Marc Dominguez served

    Army says that Marc Dominguez served

    On Saturday, we talked about Marc Dominguez, the fellow in San Diego who was wearing his uniform improperly when he was confronted by some servicemembers who recognized his improper wear.

    At the time we speculated that he probably wasn’t a veteran given the way he wore everything perfectly wrong, but the Army told NBC 7 San Diego that he had indeed served briefly;

    Marc Dominguez, 42, served from February 2003 to August 2004 as a Private First Class E-3, according to military officials.

    […]

    On Monday, Pentagon officials confirmed that as an infantryman, Dominguez received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

    An infantryman with his blue cord on the wrong arm. Blasphemy. No blue disks, and it looks like the brass on his collar isn’t infantry branch. That name tag goes on the other pocket and his marksman badge goes on the pocket flap. He was a Private First Class, so he knows that rank on the Marine Corps cap is upside down.

    He got all stabby about the public uniform corrections, and his victim was cut on the arm. I guess we know why his time in the Army was so brief (18 months).

    Marvin Akers pleads guilty for theft from Legion post

    RGR 4-78 sends us a link to the story of Marvin Akers, a former post commander of the American Legion’s Riddle-Hutcheson Post 77 in Bentonville, Arkansas where he fleeced fellow legionnaires of more than a hundred grand;

    Akers, 53, of Rogers and Kim Emerson, 62, of Farmington were arrested April 15, 2015, in connection with stealing from the $176,850 the post received after giving up its longtime lease for a downtown building in 2009.

    Akers was the commander of the American Legion’s Riddle-Hutcheson Post 77 and Emerson was treasurer in 2009, according to court documents.

    Bentonville police were alerted of the financial irregularities March 10, 2015. A check for $90,000 from the post’s account was made out to “cash” Sept. 24, 2009. Emerson and Akers signed the check, documents say.

    In police interviews, the men said they divided the check for their work in the sale of the building and for saving the organization from having to pay a lawyer. Akers received $50,000 and Emerson received $40,000, according to the affidavit.

    The men told police a letter from the national organization gave them permission for the split. But the organization’s national adjutant told police no one in the American Legion would have authorized members to be paid as described by Emerson and Akers.

    According to the affidavit, Akers received $55,446, including $50,000 from the check the two divided. Emerson wrote several checks to “cash” totaling $65,400, including the $40,000 he received from the check they divided.

    Police also found ATM withdrawals to the post’s accounts at the local Indian casino. Emerson pleaded guilty earlier this year and got ten years probation at sentencing. Big damn deal. Vets ripping off vets deserves some jail time.

  • Air Traffic Controller arrested for pipe bomb

    Air Traffic Controller arrested for pipe bomb

    One of our ninjas send us a link to the story of Paul George Dandan, an FAA employee, and his partner Derrick Fells (on your left in the picture above) both from Charlotte, North Carolina. Apparently, Fells built a pipe bomb to use on his neighbor, but changed his mind and gave it to Dandan, according to CNN;

    Both men were arrested Friday, but it’s unclear how they knew each other.

    Fells was charged with three counts of manufacturing a weapon of mass destruction and one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, police said.
    Police did not say what Dandan’s intentions were or whether he took the bomb to the airport.

    The Federal Aviation Administration said Dandan’s access to the airport “was terminated.”

    In a statement, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport said Dandan did not have access to any aircraft.

    “The FAA employee only had access to the “offsite air traffic control tower and had no access to the restricted areas of the terminal or ramp,” the statement said.

    According to the article, someone called the FBI after they saw the bomb, so Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum were showing off the bomb to someone. One day someone with a working brain cell will finish what they started.

  • FBI supervisor’s missing gun

    Bobo sends us a link to the story of Robert Manson, a supervisor in the FBI’s anti-terrorism unit who woke up after a night with a local woman in Charlotte, North Carolina to find that she had liberated his .40 caliber Glock, his $6000 Rolex watch and $60 in cash, according to the New York Times.

    The episode is an embarrassing mishap for the F.B.I. As a unit chief assigned to the bureau’s headquarters, Mr. Manson oversees all terrorism investigations in the Midwest and the Carolinas. An F.B.I. spokesman, Michael P. Kortan, said the incident was the subject of an internal investigation and declined to give additional comment.

    Mr. Manson and other senior agents were in Charlotte for training, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the episode. The agents later told the police that they had been drinking with women who said they were exotic dancers, according to a second person who was briefed on the investigation but, like the first, was not authorized to discuss it publicly.

    “Investigators determined that the victim, Robert Manson, met a woman in the hotel bar the prior night and took her back to his hotel room,” Robert Tufano, a spokesman for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said in a statement.

    You know, if my job was law enforcement, especially in the realm of domestic terrorism, I think I’d be mistrustful of any strangers, in spite of any attractive physical attributes. But, hey, I’m not in law enforcement, so what do I know. I wonder how long it will take for the handgun to turn up in a murder investigation.

  • Anna “Armed and Dangerous” Heres

    Anna “Armed and Dangerous” Heres

    Folks at Fort Bragg, North Carolina are being warned about Anna Heres who officials claim is “armed and dangerous”. Heres is banned from the military installation, “but may seek entry through deceptive means and has done so in the past year.”

    She is described as a black female, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, about 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She may be driving a silver 2009 BMW 328i with a New York license plate that reads “FZK-5156.”

    She has expressed “homicidal intentions.” If you see her, call 9-1-1.

  • Michael Arega comes to DC to “kill all white police”

    Michael Arega comes to DC to “kill all white police”

    Michael Arega‘s wife called Montgomery County police to warn them about her husband who claimed to be in the nation’s capital to “kill all white police” according to Fox5 WTTG;

    “Secret Service personnel at the White House immediately increased their posture of readiness and began searching for Arega,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

    The Secret Service located Arega on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park where he was detained and arrested by uniformed officers at around 4:05 p.m., officials say. He was not armed with a weapon when he was taken into custody.

    Arega was taken to the Metropolitan Police Department afterwards and has been charged with making felony threats.

    He drove past a lot of white police to get to DC, I’m wondering about his commitment to his mission. I guess he planned on strangling the police officers since he didn’t have a gun.
