  • TAH in the top 40 Conservative blogs

John Hawkins at Right WIng News just released his “The 40 Best Conservative Blogs For 2011 (Version 4.0)” and This Ain’t Hell is number 36. It’s been almost two years since we made the list when we tied for 40th place, so we’re moving on up.

Much thanks to John for reading and including us in some very distinguished company. Even though we’re not all that conservative sometimes.

  • Fox and New Friends

You know how TSO is always saying that he hates Fox News because they always have pointless coverage of pointless events? Well, tomorrow’s Fox and Friends’ pointless guest will be TSO at about 6:20 AM EST. He’ll be discussing the Iowa professor who he wrote about yesterday. Although, I’m sure he’s going to get broadsided with questions about bestiality and the UCMJ as a well-known subject matter expert.

Far less important, I’ll be doing radio with a friend of David Bellavia on the subject of Stolen Valor at around 10 AM while I’m on the road to Bethesda to set an appointment to get my other eye poked out.

So I guess we’re becoming media mavens.

Parachute Cutie sends a link to her blog, From Cow Pastures To Kosovo, in regards to the 173rd ABCT St. Michael’s Jump at Aviano, which she got an opportunity to observe. She thought I ought to see the pictures and she was right. i miss that shit…and the whopping tax free $55 I used to get for jump pay.

  • An introduction

You may have noticed a new blogger on this site. Berkshire Republican joined us yesterday with his first post last night. He volunteered to write for us on Thursday which coincided with the loss of our Marine blogger, Operator Dan, who has gone to work as a veteran advocate for his Congressman. That’s two bloggers we’ve sent to Congressional staffs in our grand cartoonish plan to take over the world.

But Berkshire Republican is also a combat-tested Marine and a welcomed addition to the team of veterans at TAH. Welcome, BR, and have a ball!

  • BEST OWS story so far

You need to read this story from Wirecutter at “Knuckledragging My Life Away“. There’s a language warning involved in clicking over, but it’s at TAH, so that almost goes without saying, but I said it anyway. I won’t ruin the moment with commentary or cut and paste work. Just go.

  • That “apology to Japan” story

I just want to make a small point. The other day two folks sent me a link to the story about President Obama wanting to apologize to Japan for the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima at the end of World War II. It was juicy, it fit the mold that we like to think about the Obama Administration – in short, it seemed too easy and sounded phony to me. I wrote both of the people back and told them that I thought the story was fake and that we were being set up with it.

SO, i watched Fox news’ Fox and friends run with it yesterday, b ut it still didn’t seem right to me. It was just too good.

Well, this morning, I got to watch Steve Doocy apologize to the audience for running with the story which doesn’t seem to be true…as I suspected. I still think the story was planted by the Left. A quick Google search indicates that a lot of bloggers ran with it – but I’m no good at writing sincere apologies, so I try to avoid being wrong in the first place.

  • The “Military Track” at Blog World

    Blackfive’s Laughing Wolf asked that I tell you about the Military Track at this year’s Blog World and New Media Expo, which will be in Los Angeles this year instead of it’s regular venue in Las Vegas. But I’ll let LW tell you about it;

It is a very different military track based on the feedback and suggestion from those attending last year. You let us know what you wanted to see, and we worked to make it happen.

    […]

Once again, the good people at Blog World and New Media Expo will be providing free passes to the Military Track for those currently serving, veterans, and their families. We are working on the registration process, and will let you know more when that is worked out.

You let us know what you wanted, and we are doing our best to bring it to you. Based on what those attending this year tell us, we will try to make it even better next year. So, if you want to see something different, come this year, participate, and let us know.
