  • Johnson won’t apologize…again

    Since TSO found an opportunity to get in some licks on Charles Johnson, I decided to kick Johnson while he’s down.

    Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs is resisting calls for his apology to Andrew Breitbart for accusing Breitbart of misreporting the Wiener thingie. According to Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion, Johnson writes;

    And I’ve been getting a flood of hate mail, much of it demanding that I “apologize” for something. So here’s my official response to this demand:

    Not a freaking chance. If Weiner admits to sending the pictures in question, I’ll be surprised and disappointed, but I’m never going to apologize for calling it as I see it.

    And I’m certainly never going to apologize for pointing out that Andrew Breitbart is a sleazy fraudster, with a well-documented and very tawdry history of deception.

    Those of us who’ve been around TAH for the last two years remember the same mindless drivel from Johnson when he happily jumped on veterans when he thought that a murderer in Arizona was a veteran.

    Johnson intimated that Jason Eugene Bush was a retired Special Operations soldier, and that his participation in a murder with his organization proved the Homeland Security Department’s evaluation of potential violent veterans taking part in terroristic activities. It turned out that Jason Eugene Bush was actually a violent life-long criminal with no military service.

    Johnson refused to apologize then, saying he’d not disparaged veterans. While writing this, I checked the two year old post and Johnson has removed his implication of military service in the double murder. So he knows he was wrong, but he won’t apologize.

  • The RWN banned video

    John Hawkins of Right Wing News sent us a link to the video which YouTube judged to be “hate speech”.

    According to John;

    Admittedly, I didn’t pull any punches in that video.

    I compared the Palestinians unfavorably to the Nazis because even though they both groups want to murder all the Jews, at least the Nazis were industrious and could build things. The words, “You mean it’s Palestinian engineering? Wow, then it must be good” will never come out of anyone’s mouth. That’s because the Palestinians live in a terrorist welfare state. They’re given billions by the West and are shipped bombs, guns, and rockets that they couldn’t make themselves, all so they can wage a low level war against people who could wipe them out in two weeks if they were just as degenerate as the Palestinians.

    Apparently, the truth is hate speech.

  • Internet research, UR doin’ it wrong

    This story probably should have gone to TSO, but Tman sent it to me.

    Apparently, a German TV show tried to explain to their views about the US Navy’s SEALs with this photo in the back ground;

    Now see, this where TSO would have some expertise in explaining the logo…but me, I have to cut and paste an explanation;

    Locher’s team must have searched for “Navy SEAL Six” on the Internet and stumbled upon the symbol made by a Star Trek fan group called “Maquis Forces International.” The Maquis, a rebel group, fought against Cardassia–the bad guys–in Federation colonies in some Star Trek storylines. The skull in the badge represents a Klingon, and it also includes three Klingon bat’leth swords. The group makes lots of imagined Navy SEAL logos for the “24th century,” TrekMovie says.

    They were caught on the error by a German blogger.

    See, the internet looks easy, but it ain’t.

  • Me & Don

    You may or may not know that one of the highlights of the MilBlog Conference this weekend was the early morning visit we had with Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He answered some questions – and try as we might, we couldn’t get him to say evil things about the current administration. I was generally disappointed.

    Rumsfeld did say that our policy on Libya is deeply flawed. He said that the coalition against Qaddafi should have developed a strategy and goals, and then formed a coalition around that policy, instead, the world formed the coalition first and now has an unclear set of goals. I agree with that. I’m sure Qaddafi agrees, too.

    Anyway, Andi sent me this photo this morning of me getting my book signed (the real reason Rumsfeld was there). I spent my few moments with him insuring that he spelled my name correctly. I told him that Casper Weinberger spelled it right, so he should, too (I have a fairly large collection of signed first edition books, including Reagan’s SecDef Casper Weinberger’s memoirs). Rumsfeld has a place in our family’s history since he was Secretary of Defense in my early career and then again in my son’s career nearly thirty years later.

    Yeah, that’s TSO in his formal wear sandals and shorts in the background taking pictures, too. Did I mention that TSO toured the Pentagon last year wearing his sandals and black socks? His kids are going to be so ashamed of his fashion sense.

  • Blog watcher in Indy

    I don’t know who this guy is, but he seems to be important in Indianapolis;

    Local blog watcher catalogs reaction to bin Laden news: wishtv.com

    He pinpoints the pulse of military opinion as it makes its way across so-called “new media.”

    Seavey, injured Afghanistan veteran, said from the moment word got out that bin Laden was killed, military blogs have been going crazy.

    “Something this big is something the entire country can wrap their arms around. It’s definitely very special,” he said.

    You’d think someone with all of that experience would be writing on a blog somewhere instead of talking to local media, wouldn’t you? And if he was writing on a blog somewhere, he’d make the local media snap a shot of that blog’s front page. I’m just sayin’.

  • NY Times notices milbloggers

    There’s an actual print story in the New York Times this morning about the Milblog conference this weekend. They feature interviews with The Sniper, who in my opinion, deserves the title “Milblog” much more than we do. You may discover some things you don’t know about The Sniper.

    I know NYTimes interviewed TSO, but i don’t see any quotes…that makes me wonder what he said. But at least they threw us a link.

    We met Jeff Schogol from the Stars and Stripes, too, so I’m expecting an article from them, too today.

  • Milblog Friday night

    Mark Wills introduces a new song at the Milblog Conference Friday night at the Navy Memorial (camera work by my son, Paul, who was obviously more interested in USO girl Jamie than he was in taking videos);

    I’m working on straightening out a video of the awards presentation which won’t load on to YouTube. It won’t even load into my my media encoder thingie.

    Too bad there wasn’t an award for best dressed, though – this strange fellow would have won hands down;

    If you’re wondering, he wasn’t wearing the $9.99 pants from Marshall’s. Yes, he was wearing pants. I noticed the similarity between his togs and those posted on Ace of Spades the same day;

    Coincidence? I think not.

    Perhaps somewhat less stylish were your hosts, TSO and me. But we don’t need gimmicks to look good – we got to hang out with the USO Girls.

    Oh, I finally got to meet Kate Hoit, former VetVoice frontpager. For some reason she didn’t seem as eager to meet me as I was to meet her.

  • Headed to the MilBlog Conference

    TSO and i will be at the MilBlog Conference in Arlington this weekend. My son is also flying out to Korea tomorrow on his birthday. He has a year over there with a follow-on assignment to Kaiserslautern, Germany. So I’ll miss part of the conference to take him to BWI.

    But I can’t miss the reception tonight, otherwise I’d miss the fashion show. Jimbo is also supposed to bringing the cigars. He’d better not blow it. Since alcohol is off my diet these days, cigars are all I have left.

    Jimbo cigars

    I can’t wait to see old friends and make some new ones;

    Eve chase

    I’m taking my camera this year, so there should be plenty of pictures for you Monday morning.

    There are 11 other people who can post here, so keep stopping back.
