  • VFW’s odd scorecard

    First off; I’m a life member of the VFW and I have been since I retired, but this has me a bit confused.

    I’ve been asked a few times to write a bit about the VFW’s 2008 scorecard for voters interested in veterans’ issues. I’ve found it to be a bit odd. Of course, I’m not the only one. Pete Hegseth writes “Someone tell the VFW PAC what VFW stands for” when he discovers that the VFW PAC endorsed John Murtha, a phony veteran who supports only himself, his cronies and his family, over William Russell, a real veteran who supports veterans.

    Now, based on Murtha’s vote on the new GI Bill, that might provide cover for VFW PAC’s choice, since Russell couldn’t vote on that particular issue because he’s not in Congress. However, they support Kiernan Lalor, an Iraq veteran over incumbent John Hall in New York. Hall is a Democrat like Murtha and the chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs subcommittee on disability assistance who voted like Murtha did on the GI Bill. It seems to be a similar race, with similar votes, but the VFW PAC made the opposite choice in that race – which is fine with me since Lalor is an actual veteran and a Republican, but it makes me wonder why the VFW PAC made either choice which seem to conflict.

    Our newest friend, Carole Shea-Porter from New Hampshire also got the VFW PAC’s endorsement over Jeb Bradley even though Shea-Porter, as Hegseth points out with Murtha, in direct violation of the VFW’s own Resolution 406, voted against funding the war in Iraq. Here’s the text of that VFW resolution;

    In April of this year, the Union Leader, Shea-Porter’s hometown newspaper, reported that Shea-Porter didn’t even wait for General Petraeus to finish his report before she was yapping about withdrawal from Iraq;

    Reps. Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter should have listened to Gen. David Petraeus when he testified before four congressional committees last week, including the House Armed Services Committee, on which Shea-Porter sits. Alas, they did not.

    […]

    Shea-Porter did not even bother issuing a press release. She did tell the Portsmouth Herald, “It sounded like the same tape running again. They try hard, but there’s nothing to report.”

    In light of the revelation that Shea-Porter refused to help a Gold Star mother who reached out to her, as we discovered this weekend, how can VFW PAC support her?

    I’ve got calls into the VFW PAC, but no answers yet. Apparently the scorecard only appears in the VFW Magazine (I can’t find my copy at the moment in my stack of stuff) but my mole in the VFF writes;

    Also, Vets for Freedom PAC is going to be mobilizing in Murtha’s PA-12 and Murphy’s PA-8 this coming weekend, even going door-to-door, to support Bill Russell and Tom Manion.  (And like I said, VFF PAC is already running radio ads for Manion.)

    Although it has nothing to do with VFW PAC’s quixotic decision, if you’ve got some time this weekend, go help the VFF out in Pennsylvania. I understand that Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive is leading a black-ops team into the heart of the Murtha insurgency. Apparently, as always with Jimbo, there will be alcohol involved afterwards.

    I’ll update this as I get more information.

  • Fraud; the hallmark of Democrats

    We’ve all been watching, with our jaws on our chest, as the media and prosecutors and judges allow ACORN to subvert the US electoral system, but that’s hardly the end of it. If you were reading Atlas Shrugs yesterday, you learned of the incredible story of John Galt who is a phony donor who was able to donate to the Obama campaign dispite the fact that his personal information didn’t match his credit card – there’s proof at Pamela Geller’s place in the form of screen shots.

    That started a spate of internet sleuths trying their hand at committing election fraud. An Ace of Spades reader discovered he could do the same thing on John Murtha’s website. Oddly enough, the same maneuver didn’t work at Republican campaign sites. Funny how that works. And the media completely ignores it.

    If you listened to Blackfive’s Uncle Jimbo and Dave Bellavia on their “In the Crosshairs” show the other day, they breifly talked about the Faifax County VA registrar who is tossing about 200,000 military ballots on a technicality. For some reason, the registrar wouldn’t talk to Jimbo…I don’t know what that’s about. I heard about the story several days ago from that stellar blogger on all things Virginian, at The Dillard Doctrine (who goes by the handle D. when he’s commenting here).

    The gist of the story is this; The Virginia Senate in 2002 passed a law that required a witness signature and contact information on requests for an absentee ballot, but the current request for the absentee ballot doesn’t mention the requirement of even have a place for the information to be written…so the Democrat registrar (who’d probably bend himself into a pretzel for a felon trying to vote from prison) has decided that he’ll just toss the ballots instead of coming up with a fix (like emergency legislation).

    Like a child, the Democrat Party will get away with as much as they can get away with to steal this election just so the world will think better of us and the media is letting them get away with it, while they discuss Sarah Palin’s wardrobe expenses. Good call, “journalists”.

  • TSO does Blackfive Radio

    In case you missed it this afternoon, TSO was a guest on Blackfive Media’s broadcast “In the Crosshairs” with Uncle Jimbo and David Bellavia. TSO tears up the phony soldiers and presents this blog’s case against IAVA’s disingenuous voter scorecard…the issues that have yet to be addressed by Paul Reickhoff.

    TSO’s interview is the first half-hour of the podcast’s hour two. Make sure you stick it out past the break following TSO to hear Jimbo’s great plug for This Ain’t Hell.

    If you aren’t listening to “In The Crosshairs”, you’re missing a great military talk show.

  • Keep your head down, Joe

    Joe the Plumber has become an overnight sensation. Pam Meister of Family Security Matters and BlogmeisterUSA did an interview with him, some of which is at Michelle Malkin. Don Surber writes that he’s also attracted the attention of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association;

    Ace writes that Joe is about to be “vetted” by the media;

    He got “uppity.” He’s a middle class tradesman who dared to express a political opinion disfavorable to the hard left. Obviously, they will have to destroy him — how can they save him if they do not destroy him?

    Well, I didn’t need to be told that. Here’s the Google search traffic for this blog today;

    Apparently they think Joe has some secret they can expose him with and make him look foolish. I guess it’s pointless to ask if they have no shame.

    The Left are a bunch of crybaby sissies.

  • Senator Government vs. Joe the Plumber

    Last night’s debate couldn’t have highlighted the differences between the two candidates more and it was best illustrated by John McCain’s freudian slip when he called Barack Obama “Senator Government” and the most talked about American in the debate, the fellow dubbed Joe the Plumber.

    Anyone listening closely would have heard Barack Obama pushing government programs from education to tax “cuts” as the solution to all of our problems…in other words, Senator Government saw himself as the answer to all of our problems. John McCain, on the other hand, told us that we were solution to our problems, that he saw his job as keeping government out of our way – the same thing that Joe the Plumber saw the solution to his problems.

    Obama finally stopped talking about McCain’s “special interest friends” and started admitting to having a few special interests of his own…teachers unions, community organizers and unrepentent terrorists. He stuck to the same tired explanations that have served him over the last 20 months…and since he’s the affirmative action candidate, that was good enough for many Americans. Since he played the Santa Claus to John McCain’s grumpy grandfather, he came out looking like a champ. Never mind that he relied on the same old tired broken and failed social programs of the last forty years…everyone heard how they were going to win the lottery of life when Obama ascended to his throne.

    John McCain, ever the straight talker, didn’t make promises he couldn’t keep. Unfortunately, he didn’t bother to tell America that there are no tax cuts for the real middle class coming from Obama, that health insurance premiums will sky-rocket under Obama’s plan, that Obama’s pandering to unions won’t save our education system. Obama called every factual disagreement with his proposals an “attack” and McCain shrank from his responsibility to point that out.

    McCain failed to point out that Obama was partially responsible for the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac problems because he wouldn’t act against his own special interest friends and rein them in even though McCain had several opportunities to do so. And that was his last chance.

    That leaves it up to us. As Ace of Spades wrote last night “If McCain Won’t Do It, We Will“.

  • ACORN shenanigans and American culture

    Michelle Malkin finds an entire houseful of absentee Ohioans in Columbus;

    Something smells at 2885 Brownlee Avenue in Columbus, Ohio.

    I strongly recommend that the Ohio Republican Party get on the case before it’s too late. Today’s the last day to challenge voters who registered early in Ohio before the run up to Election Day.

    Here’s the stench: An entire houseful of young, non-Ohioan Democrat activists have used the Brownlee Avenue address to register themselves to vote in the Buckeye State and secure absentee ballots under extremely shady circumstance…

    Seems to me that the Ohio government would want to at least present an appearance of legality in their voting process, but, also according to Michelle Malkin, they have to be told by their judges to do their jobs for the voters;

    Allahpundit’s got the lowdown on a Sixth Circuit court ruling tonight, which orders fraud-friendly Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to implement a new system to verify voter registrations.

    Darke GOP has quick analysis of the decision (hat tip – Patrick Poole):

    Ace of Spades quotes some of the decision;

    Secretary of State Brunner — a hyperpartisan Democrat — simply “turned off” (in the court’s words) this legally-mandated process for no offered explanation, thus compelling, effectively, local boards of elections to accept all registrations and votes, even from the huge pool of highly suspect ACORN registrants.

    The court compels her to do her ****ing job as the law demands.

    And Gateway Pundit gets credit on Brit Hume’s show for busting the Obama on edits on their website for the constantly-changing story of the relationship between Obama and ACORN.

    So what’s the peoblem here? Government officials who won’t do their respective jobs, scurring around trying to pull the wool over the voters’ eyes? It seems to me that if Democrats (and Republicans for that matter) are so convinced that they have the right message, the message Mericans want to hear, why are they involved in all of this filthy, underhanded election fraud?

    If they have to get into office by all of this sleight-of-hand vaudevillian three-ring-circus, why should we even vote for them? Why would anyone vote for crooks and liars? This goes much deeper than a few desparate polticians…this is a cultural shift. I’m  not getting fed up with the electoral system, I’m getting fed up with Americans – the ones who involve themselves in this and the ones who return them to office.

    Who would have thought thirty years ago that some Americans would trip over each other rushing to put the likes of Marion Berry back in office after his prison term? Who would have thought an impeached judge liek Alcee Hastings would get a new job as a Representative. Who would have thought an incompetent, racist boob like Ray Nagin would get returned to office after his pompous and arrogant failures in New Orleans? What representative would have been returned to office with 90 grand stashed in his freezer?

    In this day and age, what moron would think they could get away with covering up for a colleague who had paid off his lover with public funds?

    Americans have been so poisoned by the moral equivalence BS in the media, that we’ve all become criminals complicit in these crimes and incompetence by allowing it to happen time-and-again and doing nothing about it. We’re slipping into a government similar to the backwater third world countries where I’ve lived in the past. Our infrastructure is falling apart, politicians line their pockets and the citizenry stands by and watches pretending we’re helpless.

  • Chickenhawk Express on YouTube

    My alter ego, Robin at Chickenhawk Express dipped her toe into the video editing pool this week and created this;

    There’s really nothing to say after this well-produced video. Good job, Robin!

  • Astroturfers busted cold by Ace and Rusty

    If you’re not reading Ace of Spades (here and then here) and The Jawa Report, you’re missing the big blog story of this election. The Astroturfing saga continues.
