  • Gordon Duff defines “military service” for us

    gduff_01

    I’ve run into Gordon Duff’s writings occasionally on the internet. He’s about as prolific as that Jim Staro guy that TSO likes so much, and Duff is about as literate as Staro. He’s the “senior editor” of a website misnamed “Veterans Today” – it’s been my experience that Veterans Today is just another propaganda mouthpiece for the Democrat Party.

    I always chalked Duff up under the “harmless crank” column and went looking for better targets. The other day, 1stCavRVN11B sent me a link to one of his columns published in a local newspaper disparaging the service of Congressman Joe Wilson thusly;

  • More 9-12 March video

    Our buddy Skye, from Midnight Blue, was at the march on Saturday, too. We lament that we didn’t know that she was there, so in hopes of making it up to her, we’ll show her video. For those of our readers who are still married to the 30,000 number, you can probably count 30,000 heads in this video;

    By the way, she has a new blog layout designed by the same guy who designed this one last year. I’m very jealous – Dino obviously has improved his skills.

    If you’re looking for them, our reports from Saturday, are here and here.

    While we’re on the subject of the march, Trooprally, one of our friends at Free Republic, sent along this link to the aftermath of the march Saturday.

    Another friend, Bev Perlson of the Band of Mothers sends along this picture of her time at the rally;

    By the way, we met Bubba (from What Bubba Knows) and his lovely wife the other night at Walter Reed so stop and give them some attention they deserve. He looks like his cartoon character.

    Added: Speaking of Bubba, he files his report of the march.

  • …and the ACORN hits keep coming

    James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, the “pimp” and “hooker” show from BigGovernment.com also went on the road to New York City and scored with the ACORN crowd there, too. From the New York Post;

    As in prior videos released by the filmmaking team of James O’Keefe, 25, and Hannah Giles, 20, employees of the group — which specializes in housing and voter activism — were eager to dispense advice on gaming the system and skirting the law.

    “You know, what goes on in the house we don’t care,” one counselor said. “We just help you with the mortgage.”

    Here’s the videos;

    Yeah, ACORN said the first one was an isolated incident. So isolated that James and Hannah will probably tire out before they run out of offices to investigate.

  • Troops at Bagram Airbase remember 9-11

    bagram-9-11-run

    The AP and Stars & Stripes report that the folks at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan remembered 9-11-2001 with a 9.11 km run today;

    About 1,000 service members ran 9.11 kilometers (5.5 miles) at the main U.S. base, both to commemorate the anniversary and remember troops who have died in nearly eight years of fighting.

    The U.S. and its allies first invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 to oust the Taliban regime for sheltering al-Qaida leaders who planned the attacks. The Taliban were quickly routed, but the militants regrouped and have mounted an increasingly strong insurgency over the past three years.

    Organizers of Friday’s race, which also was held at two other bases, called it an act of defiance against insurgents who have killed more American troops this year than in any other since the beginning of the conflict. August was the deadliest month for U.S. troops so far, with 51 killed.

    Now, if we only had an administration which found value in acts of defiance.

    There’s more on remembering 9-11 at Blackfive; one post by Mr. Blackfive and another by Uncle Jimbo. More from Mr. Greyhawk and Mrs. Greyhawk.

    ADDED: El Marko has a really excellent photo essay of 9-11-2001 at Looking at the Left.

  • Links for a busy day

    I’m headed out around town in a few minutes to see what the tea party folks are up to and bring you back some photos and videos if I can find them. At one o’clock there’s supposed to be a press conference a few blocks from work, so I’m going to check out those folks, too. In the interim, there’s some stuff you probably ought to read.

    At The Burn Pit, MOTHAX discusses LCPL Joshua Bernard in relation to the rescue of New York Times’ reporter Stephen Farrell.

    Our new buddy, Alex, The Army of Dude, sat down with Veterans’ Affairs folks and asked them your questions about the GI Bill.

    And, finally, Tankerbabe sends us this video;

    The video was made by these folks.

  • At Walter Reed tomorrow night

    Our buddy DanNY from GOE/NY sent along this humorous bit from some clowns who think they have the organizational skills of GOE;

    teabagger-watch

    The folks at Free Republic have been manning the four corners outside of Walter Reed since March, 2005 – here’s the post I did of their three year anniversary last year. It’s not like everyone just decided to finally show up this Friday night. They’ve never been involved in “severe intimidation” of the assembled moonbats halfway down the block from the Main Gate.

    Well, there was the one time that Concretebob got the permit for occupation of all four corners when he found out that the Code Pink permit didn’t exist. That’s why they’re halfway down the block. So anyway, if you’re in town Friday night, stop by WRAMC and join us.

    I hear Tankerbabe will be there.

    Don’t forget the barbecue at the Mologne House. More from FReeper buddy, trooprally;

    GoE has a duplicate permit for the moonbats area.

    The DC Chapter has also extended our permits to cover all of the street in front of Walter Reed, except the small area where the moonbats are.

    We start at 6PM. A moment of silence will be held at 8:46PM, 8 yrs and 12 hours after the 1st trade tower was struck.

    RE signs, we will have a lot from GoE I and some made up, but if the numbers are going to be as many as expected, feel free to bring your own.

    Moonbats may try to infiltrate our group with obambi-hilter and hanging obambi posters. If you see any, please immediately remove them.

  • BBC Podcast

    Here’s the Podcast of the debate Uncle Jimbo and I had with some fellows from across the pond. Podcast We come in about 25 minutes into the broadcast.

    I’ll have you know I wasted the whole morning reading Kipling aloud to work on my accent.

    I guess what really made me angry was when Jimbo made the point that AP had proven themselves a dishonest broker in the information business when they released the picture of LCPL Joshua Bernard against his family’s wishes. The interviewer declared Jimbo’s point moot by proclaiming that they’d already talked about that on Monday. WTF?

    And one of the bangers and mash aficionados said that Farrell didn’t expect to be rescued so that somehow made him better than the military who hadn’t bothered to tell leaky-ass New York Times they were going to rescue him. Another WTF?

    But I had a good time – I’m glad Jimbo was there and we sure could have used Alex in there, too. Thanks for listening. Now back to the paying job.

  • TAH on the airwaves

    I got a call this morning from the BBC asking for an interview on the New York Times journalist who was rescued by British commandos this morning. So if you’re listening to their World Have Your Say radio program at about 1:30 Eastern Time, I’ll be locked in a debate with a chap from The Guardian on the subject Should soldiers risk their lives for journalists?

    Guess which side I’m on.

    Added: I guess Uncle Jimbo will be on the program, too. Listen here live at about 1:30 Eastern.
