  • Military Blogger under fire

    cj-grisham

    Thanks to Bouhammer for the photo.

    Among other things, the MilBlog community has been watching the case of MSG CJ Grisham closely to gauge the Army’s attitude towards active duty bloggers. CJ, in addition to being a senior NCO and a groundbreaking milblogger, is also a parent. When he opposed a local school district’s policy in regards to his kids, he complained at a PTA meeting. The school principal complained about MSG Grisham’s complaint to the Army.

    Grisham videoed the next PTA meeting in order to protect himself, then put it on his blog. The school district complained and Grisham was forced to shut down his blog by the Army.

    There’s more at Blackfive.

    CJ is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, so if you can see your way clear to help him out during this tight holiday, I’d sure appreciate it.

  • Charles Johnson is a petty, petty man

    This is my blog so let me bitch.

    In June, I wrote a post about Charles Johnson’s mistake that he’d mischaracterized a career criminal as a veteran. I wrote to him before I posted it and told him why I was doing it – nothing sneaky or underhanded. You guys know me – I don’t do anything behind anyone’s back.

    Well, I visited his site a few times that night after he posted a link to my post to see what folks were saying and I found this comment supposedly from a veteran;

    lgf-karma2a

    Nice, huh? I’m no better than Osama bin Laden. Well, I couldn’t let that go, so I answered – and out of respect for Charles, I kept my comment civil;

    lgf-karma1a

    Notice Charles voted my Karma down. It wasn’t particularly important, but I knew I’d need the screen shot some day. And I knew where I stood with Charles. So I stayed out of the comments from that day on – again, it’s his blog. He left my account open so I thought I was welcome as long as I behaved myself.

    I posted a link in the linkviewer the other day to my post about the protest – Charles used to post all of my protest pictures, so I didn’t think he’d mind. And I didn’t think he was petty to the point of insanity. I went back today and found this when I tried to sign in;

    fu-charles1a

    I stayed out of the battles he waged with Pamela Geller and The Other McCain and, God knows, who else because he’d given me my first bit of exposure in this blog thing. I guess we’re even now.

    I know you’re so damn petty that you Google your name and chase links looking for LGF infidels…so eat shit, Charles. I hope you get your ponytail caught in your bike spokes, you dick. See, I can be petty, too. Dick.

  • Saturday’s reading

    I’ve been riding my bike all day so I’ll let you read along with me. I don’t want to see your lips moving, though;

  • Poll: Bloggers’ Least Respected Conservatives

    This Ain’t Hell was asked by John Hawkins of Right Wing News to participate in a poll this last week in regards to who are our least favorite Conservatives. John asked 260 right of center blogs, 52 responded and he’s posted the results of his poll at “Right-Of-Center Bloggers Select Their Least Favorite People On The Right (2009 Edition)” .

    Some of our choices were included in the results. In fact, only Stuart Rhodes, Adam Kokesh and Orley Taitz are missing.

  • Busy day for a Friday

    I’m sorry I’m so delinquent posting today. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with a reporter from Stars and Stripes doing an information dump on the subject of the IVAW. I don’t have high expectations for the resulting article, but I take a measure of comfort in the fact that at least he asked me about them.

    While I get back to the business of blogging, here’s some interesting links I ran across while catching up;

    My mentor, drinking buddy and pal Matt Burden (otherwise known as Blackfive) has announced what some of us have known for a week or so; he’s running for Illinois State Representative.

    I felt bad that I didn’t cover the story about SFC Jared Monti’s Medal of Honor Award ceremony yesterday, but Tankerbabe does a better job than I could anyway.

    Our buddy, DanNy from Gathering of Eagles NY has a great post about a Civil War soldier returned to New York from the Antietam battlefield where he died in AMerica’s bloodiest day.

    The Washington Post finally notices the ACORN sting more than a week after it began.

    Fox News reports that centrist Democrats are applauding Republican efforts to shut down ACORN.

    Stars and Stripes/AP report on the first woman to lead the Army’s drill sergeant school.

    Gabriel Malor at Ace of Spades reports that the Baucus bill got booed by Democrats. Gateway Pundit says 56% oppose the health care bill.

    The irrepressible Michelle Malkin writes about “ACORN’s illegal alien home loan racket

    If you have more links, leave them in the comments.

  • Where in the world…?

    If you’re wondering where TSO is today, he’s at the Medal of Honor Convention in Chicago (you might have noticed the banner in our sidebar). Blackfive is there, too, read about the convention at his place.

    OK, Caroline, stop reading here.

  • ACORN gets no Federal money?

    1stCavRVN11B sent me this link to a leftist blog written by Wade Rathke, founder and chief organizer of ACORN until last year. The most amazing quote from the blog post, and perhaps the most prescient, is this one;

    Of course it is a well settled question that has been elaborately documented that ACORN gets no federal money, but hey from the crowd talking about death panels all the time, we can’t expect accuracy, can we?

    Oh, yeah? Then why did the Senate decide yesterday to cut off Federal money from ACORN? (Fox News link);

    The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases.

    The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

    Why would the Senate move to block ACORN from getting Federal grants, if ACORN doesn’t get “federal money”?

    Apparently, the answer to “the settled question” isn’t quite so settled.

    Thanks to 1stCavRVN11B and Sporkmaster.
