  • Obama sends troops to Africa

    the president wrote a letter to Congress today informing them that he sent about 100 combat troops to Africa to hunt an rebel leader, according to a link sent to us by our buddy, jeff Schogol at the Stars & Stripes;

    The initial team of advisors deployed Wednesday, and the number will rise to about 100 during the next month, Obama wrote in a letter to Congress. The first troops were sent to Uganda, but forces could also move into South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, subject to the approval of those nations, Obama said.

    “I have authorized a small number of combat-equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield,” Obama wrote.

    The Pentagon claims that the troops will be mainly Special Forces soldiers and they will not be engaged in combat operations outside of an advisory role except to defend themselves. I wish those troops a lot of luck, they’re probably going to need it since Obama needs a few more military victories before next November.

  • That “apology to Japan” story

    I just want to make a small point. The other day two folks sent me a link to the story about President Obama wanting to apologize to Japan for the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima at the end of World War II. It was juicy, it fit the mold that we like to think about the Obama Administration – in short, it seemed too easy and sounded phony to me. I wrote both of the people back and told them that I thought the story was fake and that we were being set up with it.

    SO, i watched Fox news’ Fox and friends run with it yesterday, b ut it still didn’t seem right to me. It was just too good.

    Well, this morning, I got to watch Steve Doocy apologize to the audience for running with the story which doesn’t seem to be true…as I suspected. I still think the story was planted by the Left. A quick Google search indicates that a lot of bloggers ran with it – but I’m no good at writing sincere apologies, so I try to avoid being wrong in the first place.

  • JJ, Jr’s extra-constitutional remedies

    It’s funny how when Democrats can’t get what they want, it’s always the process that’s at fault, it’s never that they haven’t made their case to the public, or that they might be wrong completely on a cerain subject, but it’s always the process that’s against them. Jesse Jackson, Junior reaches that conclusion in an interview with the Daily Caller sent to us by DaveO;

    Jackson added that his $804 billion stimulus plan is the only way to solve the unemployment crisis. “I support the jobs plan. I support the president’s re-election. I support Barack Obama,” he said. “But at this hour, we need a plan that meets the size and scope of the problem to put the American people to work.”

    “We’ve got to go further. I support what [Obama] does. Clearly, Republicans are not going to be for it but if the administration can handle administratively what can be done, we should pursue it. And if there are extra-constitutional opportunities that allow the president administratively to put the people to work, he should pursue every single one of them,” Jackson suggested.

    He calls for “exra-consttutional” remedies, but what he really means is “unconstitutional”actions by the president. Since the Congress controls the purse strings of government (poorly), Jackson recommends that Obama just seize the Treasury and spend as he wishes without the consent of the People (which is what Congress is supposed to be).

    Jaxkspn claims Congress is in rebellion and he suggests they shoudl be dissolved as a result. Rebellion against who? They were elected to stop reckless spending by this administration, and thy’re only doing that which got them elected. Maybe Democrats should order Republican voters shot so the process will finally work in their favor.

  • More Washington Post electioneering BS

    My delicate eyes were assaulted by this headline in the business section of the Washington Post this morning;

    A win? Relly? The trade deals with South Korea, Colombia and Panama were all negotiated under President Bush. They were stalled by Democrats during their reign in Congress for various left-wing reasons (they wanted fewer unionists killed in Colombia and they were angry that Martinelli, a conservative, was elected in Panama). Republicans in Congress have pushing for passage of these Free Trade Agreements for more than four years – so congratualations, Mr President, you get a “win” because the republicans took Congress.

    Given the famous political leanings of the Post, I’m sure if their archivs went back far enough, I could probably find instances of their opposition to the Bush Administration’s attemts at passing the FTAs with Colombia and Panama. I did however find a Washington Post article from 2007 in which they report that Democrats were holding up the FTA with Colombia;

    And a Huffington Post article from just a few days ago which still opposes the Colombia FTA for leftist reasons.

    But, yeah, congats Mr Obama for getting the Republicans to vote the way they’ve wanted to vote for more than four years.

  • Biden threatens to go on a crime spree

    I think that’s what this means, but like most of the people on the internet, I only read the headline;

  • Iran plots assassination in DC

    According to the Washington Post, the Obama Administration has foiled a bold plan by the Iranian government to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the US while he is in Washington, DC:

    The Obama administration on Tuesday directly accused Iran and its elite Quds Force of backing the alleged attempt to kill Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Adel al-Jubeir, using hit men from a Mexican drug gang. The allegation plunged U.S.-Iranian relations into crisis and sent U.S. officials scrambling in search of new punitive measures to impose against a country that has already been hit with multiple rounds of sanctions.

    The brazenness of the plot outlined by Justice Department officials struck many current and former U.S. officials as out of character for Iran, which has rarely, if ever, been so bold as to strike targets in America.

    Seriously? No one expected Iran to commit crimes on US soil? You mean because our policy towards them has been so toothless and ineffective? They should be scared because no one holds Iran accountable for their rogue behavior? They kidnap British sailors, American hikers and anyone else they feel like kidnapping and their punishment is millions in ransom money. I’m sure the iranians are shaking in their boots with anticipation of the strongly-worded letter they’re about to receive.

    ADDED: Fox News is reporting that the plot also involved the Mexican drug cartels;

    U.S. officials say the suspects in the case were working on a “murder for hire” scheme to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States using explosives. They allegedly reached out to a U.S. source in Mexico posing as a drug cartel representative. Arbabsiar allegedly tried to hire the source and his accomplices to carry out the attack.

    The two most direct threats to our national security which we’ve virtually ignored for decades involved in a plot together. WHo would have ever thought? Not this administration, that’s for sure.

  • Protesters support Obama no matter what they say

    I received my marching orders this afternoon from the Democrat National Committee;

    [Obama’s job bill is] a bill that will put people to work immediately, and it contains proposals that members of both parties have said in the past that they’d support.

    But Senate Republicans want to block it. Not because they have a plan that creates jobs right now — not one Republican, in Congress or in the presidential race, does. They only have a political plan.

    Their strategy is to suffocate the economy for the sake of what they think will be a political victory. They think that the more folks see Washington taking no action to create jobs, the better their chances in the next election. So they’re doing everything in their power to make sure nothing gets done.

    After I got this letter from the DNC, Old Trooper sent us this video of the Occupy DC protesters invading the Hart Senate Office building.

    Demonstrators Arrested inside Senate Hart Office Building: MyFoxDC.com

    Yeah, and earlier today, the protesters in New York marched on the homes of some billionaires in support of Obama’s millionaire tax proposals. It doesn’t matter what they say about “too much money in government”, that doesn’t mean they aren’t the soldiers of the Obama Administration.

  • Congress to subpoena Holder in “Fast & Furious”

    Fox News reports that they’re expecting subpoenas to be delivered to Attorney General Eric Holder today in regards to his knowledge of the Fast and Furious project.

    The subpoena is expected to ask for correspondence that Justice Department officials had with the White House about the gun trafficking operation, as well as what information was shared by Justice officials in Mexico.

    I guess that firing off a letter to Congress like he did last week accusing them of “irresponsible and inflammatory rhetoric” isn’t helping the little drama queen Holder.
