  • Drink the Kool Aid deeply, my pretty

    So while I was researching for my media appearance today, I happened by the Washington Post and looked through the comments and came across these delightful comments that I just had to share;

    First of all, he didn’t end the war in his first four years, what makes them think he’ll end it in his second term, especially since his only foreign policy successes are in large part due to the performance of the troops in the war. Secondly, how did he “rightly” win the Nobel Prize since he was nominated for it before he even entered office?

    Not that I totally disagree with his policy, but he’s the first US president since Lincoln to intentionally target US citizens for death using our armed forces to execute their sentence. He’s expanded the drone war in direct contradiction with Leftist aims. So I don’t know how that woudl qualify him for a “Peace Prize”. And, yes, he’s restored the image of the United States around the world, that’s why every time we fart, we’re drawing criticism from every corner of the world. Iran is so scared of us they’ve stopped their nuclear program and refrain from helping our adversaries in Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan…oh, wait, no they haven’t. My bad.

    But, yes, I agree that we should never forget who started this war – al Qaeda with the full knowledge and protection from the Taliban. Despite what Joe “Bite Me” Biden would have us believe.

  • More national security cuts to the budget?

    Well, ya know, I almost understand the cuts to the Department of Defense…it’s a knee jerk reaction for Liberals to go after defense first thing. But, ya know, this one just doesn’t figure. Unless they thought that no one would notice. The Obama Administration has proposed to cut by almost half funding for training federal flight deck officers – those airline pilots who are specially trained to carry firearms on your commercial flight. You know, to protect the cockpit from hijackers. According to the Philadelphia Enquirer;

    President Obama’s budget for the coming year, released last month, proposes $12.5 million for the federal flight deck officer and flight crew training program, down from $25 million this year.

    The White House budget also calls for a $36.5 million cut in the Federal Air Marshal Service, although $929.6 million would remain in that program.

    In an environment of overall budget tightening, the administration proposes that the TSA spend $7.6 billion in 2013, a cut of $197 million.

    Yeah, the defense budget, I can almost understand because they hate things that the Constitution actually mentions, these things that protect us directly, that are right in front of the voters’ collective face, well, it just doesn’t make sense in an election year, unless, like I said, they thought no one would notice.

    But if you couple these cuts with the cuts to defense, and the blatantly obvious lack of cuts to social programs, it looks to me as if this Administration is planning to disarm this country in the middle of a war against terrorists, taking apart the mechanisms which have resulted in no more successful terrorist attacks in more than ten years. Sacrificing security for votes from the leech class.

    Where are the adults?

  • Gitmo terrorist lawyers in the Justice Department

    Hondo and ROS sent us a link to Fox News in which they report that Tony West, formerly the defense attorney for al Qaeda-linked detainee, sweet little American Taliban, Johnny Walker Lindh, is now heading Gitmo policy for the Department. West and his firm have been involved in other terror-related cases with Gitmo detainees;

    West was promoted a week ago. In the announcement, Attorney General Eric Holder said West and Stuart Delery, who was tapped to fill the spot West is leaving, “bring a wealth of experience to their new positions.”

    “I’m confident they will provide invaluable leadership and will play a critical role in furthering the department’s key priorities and fulfilling its traditional missions,” he said.

    I’m sure he’ll bring a wealth of experience, as well as personal relationships with young up-and-coming terrorists. Talk about the fox guarding the chicken coop. Its like naming Bernie Maddoff to head the Security and Exchange Commission. Or putting Eric Holder at the head of the Justice Department…oh, wait. We already did that.

  • Obama “calmed things down” in Afghanistan

    In a link sent by ROS, the President claimed to ABC News that he “calmed things down” with his apology to Afghanistan for the culturally-accepted burning of defaced Korans. That might be news to some of us (Fox News link);

    Thursday’s killings raised to six the number of Americans killed in less than two weeks amid heightened tensions over the Feb, 20 burning of Qurans and other Islamic texts that had been dumped in a garbage pit at Bagram Air Field near Kabul. More than 30 Afghans also were killed in six days of violent riots that broke out after the incident.

    President Barack Obama and other U.S. officials apologized and said the burning was an accident, but that has failed to quell the anger.

    I guess that’s like the millions of jobs saved or created. Just sayin’ it makes it so.

  • Biden wants Usama’s picture on Obama bumper stickers

    The Washington Times reports that “Bite Me” Biden thinks that death of Usama bin Laden warrants a centerpiece position in the President’s reelection campaign;

    The quest marches on for a bumper sticker for the 2012 Obama campaign, and Vice President Joseph Biden Jr. believes the slogan should highlight the death of Osama bin Laden.

    At a campaign event in Manchester, N.H., Thursday night, Mr. Biden offered this suggestion for the campaign’s 2012 bumper sticker: “Osama bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive.”

    Yeah, because bin laden gave his life for the second Obama term. Can you imagine the outcry if President Bush or Dick Cheney had made such a suggestion with the visage of Saddam Hussein in the 2004 election?

  • Veterans’ share of the budget not being balanced on our backs; $13B

    The Military Officers Association of America reports that military retirees will absorb over $13 billion in the Defense Department budget through increases in our healthcare costs which will be passed on to all ranks at every age, including those over 65 years old;

    TRICARE Prime annual enrollment fees for retired families (currently $520) would rise as high as $820 starting October 1, 2012, and rise to as much as $2,048 within five years, with fees based on military retired pay amount.

    TRICARE Standard beneficiaries would start paying a $140 annual family enrollment fee and a slightly increased deductible ($320) starting Oct 1, with the enrollment fee and deductible rising to $250 and $580, respectively within 5 years. These would be flat fees for all Standard beneficiaries.

    Retirees and family members age 65 and older would start paying an annual TRICARE For Life (TFL) enrollment fee of up to $135 per person starting this Oct. 1. This fee also would be graduated based on retired pay amount, and would rise to as much as $475 per year within 5 years.

    Pharmacy copays for retail and mail-order brand-name medications would more than double (from $12 to $26) starting Oct 1. Copays for non-formulary medications that currently cost $25 would also more than double, to $51, and availability would be mostly restricted to the mail-order venue, with only limited retail access. The brand-name and non-formulary copays would rise to $34 and $66, respectively, within 5 years.

    See, that’s why Panetta took over the Defense Department…he’s a hitman who’ll take the blame for these massive hikes during the election season to deflect blame from the president. Panetta doesn’t need your vote to keep his job. Now where are those fuckers who told me four years ago that Obama would never do this? Where’s fucking VoteVets and IAVA? They put the President in office, so where are they with that blather about how Obama is the best thing that ever happened to veterans?

    I got in a pissing contest with IAVA’s Reickoff yesterday on Facebook over his pointless blather for a parade, but his lack of support for veterans’ healthcare. He pointed to some IAVA bullshit about “How the budget cuts will impact you“, not a word of condemnation of the current administration for their blatant screwing of veterans to the wall.

    Thanks to ROS for the link.

  • Defenseless

    When President Eisenhower began drawing down the land forces of our military after the Korean War, his policy was dependent on our nuclear arsenal calling it “a bigger bang for the buck”. Now as the Obama Administration is drawing down our armed forces’ capability, he also wants to deplete the nuclear capability, too (Associated Press link);

    The Obama administration is weighing options for sharp new cuts to the U.S. nuclear force, including a reduction of up to 80 percent in the number of deployed weapons, The Associated Press has learned.

    Even the most modest option now under consideration would be an historic and politically bold disarmament step in a presidential election year, although the plan is in line with President Barack Obama’s 2009 pledge to pursue the elimination of nuclear weapons.

    I don’t like nuclear weapons, but they’re a reality in the current climate. With North Korea and Iran, the thugs of the world are getting their grubby paws on nukes and the only reason we haven’t been the victim of our invention is that we’ve always had a greater capability to return the favor to anyone who would them on us.

    Now we’re going to unilaterally surrender in the arms race. That’ll work out well for us. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that the President is inviting an invasion.

    Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

  • Whittling down the heroes

    Last week, TSO wrote about the politically correct process that the White House is using to honor Iraq War veterans at their state dinner later this month. USA Today details the process this morning;

    First and foremost, every state, territory and the District of Columbia had to be represented. Ethnic, racial and gender diversity was crucial, and every service and every rank had to be included.

    “The whole kit and caboodle,” said Marine Sgt. Maj. Brian Battaglia, senior enlisted adviser to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and highest ranking enlisted officer in the military.

    “What we wanted inside that (East) Room is America,” Battaglia said of the White House location where the dinner will be held.

    Yeah, that’s not America. We’re supposed to be about one culture with a single heritage, not gender and racial identities. We were attacked because we’re Americans, not because of stupid shit like who puts what in who.

    About 100 guests and their significant others are being invited to the White House. But after the service chiefs, families who lost a loved one in combat and other selected VIPs were accounted for, the Pentagon had 64 slots left for combat veterans.

    So a single party to honor veterans of a war will only be attended by 64% of those heroes? What the fuck are the other straphangers there for? To feel heroic?

    The Marines addressed the problem by selecting troops who live largely in the Washington, D.C., area but whose hometowns were from states that needed to be represented, said Gunnery Sgt. Chanin “Nun” Nuntavong, who with one other Marine contacted potential attendees.

    Yeah, THAT has never happened before. The headshed wienies get to go to the fancy parties and get honors while trigger pullers out in boondocks get to watch it on TV while they’re waiting for their next guard shift.
