  • Delaware Veterans turn their backs on Obama

    So this happened;

    We feel he’s turned his back on us veterans, so we’re going to turn our backs on him as he drives by on his motorcade to show our appreciation that he does not care about us veterans,” Nicholson told BuzzPo.com.

    Obama was in Delaware to discuss a recently damaged bridge, a topic the protesters call a waste of Obama’s time when much bigger issues demand his attention, including the Veterans Affairs scandal and the invasion of illegal immigrants.

    “Take care of your own first,” protester John Stroud told BuzzPo. “There are Americans that need help first. I think there are more important things you could be doing than coming to Delaware to look at a bridge.”

  • EO 13662 bans Kalashnikov products

    According to the Treasury Department, the President signed Executive Order 13662 which expanded sanctions against Russia. The EO includes products made by Kalashnikov Concern which manufactures the popular AK-47 semi-automatic rifle and the Saiga line of semi-automatic shotguns.

    The following entities have been added to [Office of Foreign Funds Control (OFAC)]’s [Specially Designated Nationals (SDN)] List:

    […]

    KALASHNIKOV CONCERN (a.k.a. CONCERN KALASHNIKOV; a.k.a. IZHEVSKIY MASHINOSTROITEL’NYI ZAVOD OAO; f.k.a. IZHMASH R&D CENTER; f.k.a. JSC NPO IZHMASH; f.k.a. NPO IZHMASH OAO; a.k.a. OJSC CONCERN KALASHNIKOV; f.k.a. OJSC IZHMASH; f.k.a. SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION ASSOCIATION IZHMASH JOINT STOCK COMPANY), 3, Derjabin Pr., Izhevsk, Udmurt Republic 426006, Russia; Registration ID 1111832003018 [UKRAINE2].

    […]

    Of course, until recently the AK-47 was the scariest of the scary gun subset of firearms, judging by the media’s concern about the weapons. While I’m not a big fan of the Kalashnikov series, I am completely sympathetic with those of you who are. This means that not only can’t you buy the rifle at a reasonable price, the cost of replacement parts will skyrocket. Luckily there are enough other manufacturers to fill the gap. Just glancing at Gun Broker, I see Polish versions are about the same price they were all along.

    But, I guess that Obama wants to focus his unintended consequences on existing stocks of Kalashnikov products, which by the way, includes cars, motorcycles and machining tools.

  • Adding More Inches to the Welfare Beltline

    Born in the early forties, my early life was formed around images of WWII. Then, as an adolescent, it was the images from the Korean War that shaped my views of world conflict and its consequences. In the mid-’60s it was my turn to be a participant in Vietnam, where I was able to view those events firsthand. In all those conflicts, some of the most searing images were those showing the effects of war on the civilian populace. There are millions of images from those years and those wars recording for posterity the sad plight of all those millions of refugees.

    But you know what? I can’t ever recall seeing, either in person or in an image, a fat refugee. In my remembrance, they have all been gaunt, looking as though their very next step may be into a grave. These were people dispossessed of their homelands, fleeing political oppression and conflict, seeking the slightest glimmer of hope to regain their freedom and some semblance of normality in their lives.

    And to my best recollection, the one trait they all shared was that they were all skinny as rails.

    Don’t believe me? Go back and look at those historical images. One look at those people, and you can see quite readily that they were in severe physical distress regardless of their political pains.

    Now take a look at any of the video coverage or other imagery of the poor Central American refugees seeking asylum at our border. One striking truth is immediately apparent: many of them are genuinely obese by the actuarial standards imposed on the rest of us Americans by the insurance industry and our federal government. Most of these refugees look like they’ve never missed a meal in their lives. Many of them look like they have lived with both front feet in the trough. It’s glaringly obvious that whatever they are fleeing, it’s not the malnutrition that is usually such an essential component of refugee status. In fact, I would suggest that, considering the norm, a skinny refugee should be flagged for extra health screening.

    So while the Obama administration is bending-unto-breaking every law on the books to carry off this phony children’s crusade, I suppose it’s just a given that federal height/weight and body fat content guidelines will be bent as well to accommodate all these new lifelong Democrat voters and food stamp recipients. And since all these chubby border-crashers will most likely end up on Medicaid, it naturally follows that Medicaid will have to revise upward their obesity guidelines, which frees up all those already on Medicaid and food stamps to increase their caloric intake, leading to millions of fatter feet in the trough.

    Good grief! What has Obama wrought?

  • Hagel: Islamic Nation is threat to US security

    Stars & Stripes reports that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is telling us what we already know; that those Islamic Nation fellows, formerly known as ISIS and ISIL, are a threat to our own national security;

    “This country should not make any mistake on this, nor anyone in Congress: This is a threat to our country. This is a force that is sophisticated, it’s dynamic, it’s strong, it’s organized, it’s well-financed, it’s competent… And it is a threat to our allies all over the Middle East, it’s a threat to Europe… and it’s a threat to us,” he told troops at a town hall at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga.

    He should tell us something we don’t know. So, here we are in the midst of our third deployment of troops to Iraq in twenty-four years – all because we weren’t willing to finish the job each time. This time it’s because we weren’t willing to “do something, anything” to prevent the juggernaut from Syria from making the advances to the gates of Baghdad. Simple things like supplying the Iraqis with the weapons to beat back the invaders.

    If I didn’t know better, I’d think that this administration was intentionally creating crises. We definitely need some leadership, the world needs some leadership – but all we get is nimnils telling us what we already know so they can appear concerned. I don’t see any leaders on the other side of the political aisle, either. It’s as if the whole western half of the world have become Europeans.

    In another S&S article, Hagel tells the same crowd that we need to shift focus onto the nuclear sub force;

    “I think over the years we’ve let our focus on the nuclear deterrence aspect of our national security drift a little,” Hagel told sailors, Marines and Coastguardsmen at a town hall meeting here.

    “That’s somewhat understandable when we understand that for 13 years this country has been at war in long, large land-mass wars. And because of that, priority has been put on those wars, both in funding, leadership, attention. So we need to get back and pay attention here and prioritize the importance of the nuclear enterprise.”

    Mostly, because this crowd is well-versed in focusing on problems that don’t exist. While ISIL was marching on Baghdad, the president was talking about “green energy” and while telling the crowd that ISIL is a threat to our own national security, Hagel wants to talk about spending more money on submarines. It would be funny if we weren’t talking about the lives of Americans here. But, you know, “what difference does it make?”

  • No quick solution for border gaggle in sight

    Yesterday, the president let word leak out from the White House that most of the children piled up on our side of the border would be sent back home soon. But the word coming out now is less encouraging.

    White House officials said they still intend to pursue additional authorities to speed the return of the children who’ve been arriving by the thousands, mostly from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. But for now the White House request will focus on additional money for immigration judges, detention facilities, legal aid and other items that could address the situation on the border, which the administration has termed a humanitarian crisis.

    The new approach comes after the White House told Congress last week that it would seek “additional authority” for the Homeland Security secretary to quickly return the minors back home.

    I’m guessing the change came because of the echo chamber that surrounds the policy makers in the White House. Someone told the president about Nancy Pelosi and her “dazzling, sparkling array of God’s children” speech.

  • Boehner explains his stupid strategy

    Republicans don’t like being the majority party in Congress. That has to be the answer – because whenever Democrats show the American public how their political solutions are intellectually vacuous, and Americans begin to understand how Democrats have no idea how to lead this country, the Republicans do something stupid to screw up an election. I guess it’s House Speaker John Boehner’s turn to do something stupid. He tried to explain the inexplicable in CNN yesterday;

    ater this month, we will bring legislation to the House floor that would authorize the House of Representatives to file suit in an effort to compel President Obama to follow his oath of office and faithfully execute the laws of our country.

    What’s disappointing is the President’s flippant dismissal of the Constitution we are both sworn to defend. It is utterly beneath the dignity of the office. I know the President is frustrated. I’m frustrated. The American people are frustrated, too.

    Boenher goes on to explain how screwed up the economy, unemployment, our foreign policy, our national security, our energy policy have all suffered under this administration for the last four years. I agree with all of that, but a solution doesn’t reside in the judicial system. It reminds me of the Clinton years when the Republicans, for more than two years focused entirely on impeaching the President instead of taking advantage of their position to return the government to the People.

    Basically, Boehner is hoping to pit all three branches of government against each other in a huge power struggle. Actually, the courts put the Obama Administration in it’s place without the legislative branch last week when the president overreached his grasp. Of course, the Obama Administration doubled down on their wrist slapping by looking more ridiculous and announced their intention to use Executive orders to bypass the Constitution.

    It’s been my habit, when an intellectual opponent is doing their best to look like an idiot – I stand back and let them go at it. Public opinion of this President is slipping rapidly. Gas prices are soaring, unemployment and the economy seem to be stagnant, pajama-clad goat ropers make fun of our national security, illegal immigrants flaunt our laws. While I feel Mr. Boehner’s frustration, he doesn’t do the President’s opposition any favors by waving his arms and pleading with us to look at his own idiotic antics instead.

  • American citizen held in Israeli

    TSO sends us a link from Fox News in regards to the arrest of US citizen 15-year-old Tariq Khdeir after his cousin 16-year-old Palestinian Abu Khdeir was found murdered last week following the murder of three Israeli teens. it looks like Tariq was arrested for shooting with his sling shot at Israeli police;

    The State Department confirmed Saturday that American citizen Tariq Khdeir is being held by Israeli authorities in Jerusalem and called for an investigation into reports he was severely beaten while in police custody, amid escalating violence in the Middle East country.

    As TSO points out, the dude has been in custody only a few hours and the State Department is looking into charges that he has been beaten by police. As far as I know, the US State Department hasn’t even mentioned to Mexican authorities the name of American citizen, Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi who has been held in Mexican prison for months and has reportedly been mistreated. And I don’t think Tahmooressi was throwing rocks at Mexican police.

    I wonder why the disparity in the attention the two Americans are getting from the State Department?

  • Baldilocks; Obama to Black Americans: Sit Down and Shut Up

    Baldilocks; Obama to Black Americans: Sit Down and Shut Up

    One of my good friends, an Air Force Veteran and one of my not-so-secret crushes, Juliette Akinyi Ochieng, more famously known as Baldilocks wrote at Da Tech Guy about the message that President Obama is sending to Black Americans with his actions (or non-actions) on our southern border;

    He could not give a rat’s about black Americans and why should he? After all, black liberals/ Leftists voted for him 100% and they aren’t going to do anything about his betrayal but mope silently. Or, they will blame the white man for Obama’s “failure”–for somehow forcing Obama to let the illegal aliens in–oblivious to the fact that this particular method of absolving Obama of guilt makes him in particular and black people in general appear to be weak and inferior.

    “Sit down and shut up.” A few years back, Barack Obama said, basically, this to the Congressional Black Caucus when a few of their brighter members—the one with IQs in the high 90s—began to notice that the president had not become black America’s new Patron.

    Well, since the importation of a new group of slaves, the brighter black liberals in general have begun to get it as well. The rest, however, will continue to worship at their master’s feet as their lives–and this country–slide into chaos.

    You should go read the rest. She kicks ass like always.
