  • Now who’s astroturfing

    I just got this email from my local Obama Love Chapter Head Koolaid Dispenser here in Maryland. He wants me to go outside of my district to attend another Congress person’s town hall meeting;

    astroturf-left

    Well, maybe they just sent it to me because it’s hard to keep track of who lives where among all of the Obaminions in Maryland. Except that I got this email right after the first one telling me that “according to their records” I live in Maryland’s eighth district and would I please call my congressman, Chris VanHollen, to give him moral support in this grueling battle against “scare tactics”.

    astroturf-left1

    So who is astroturfing now? I’m guessing my uber-Leftist Congressman isn’t venturing out into the wilds of Silver Spring among the unwashed masses. Of course, most of his constituents in my neighborhood barely speak English, anyway, so why bother. So I should boost attendence in another district. In fact, I got three emails urging me to attend three different Congressal district town hall meetings – some across the state from me.

    The second email was entitled “Beating the scare tactics”.  What could be scarier than a President who compiles an “enemies list” of people spreading “fishy” information?

  • Our mob is good; your mob is bad

    DrewM at Ace of Spades and our buddy DanNY at Gathering of Eagles NY posted this video from the Democratic National Committee decrying the “well-funded Right Wing mobs” who’ve been heckling Democrats.

    In my inbox this afternoon, I get this email from the President;

    There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we’ve got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight.

    That’s why Organizing for America is putting together thousands of events this month where you can reach out to neighbors, show your support, and make certain your members of Congress know that you’re counting on them to act.

    But these canvasses, town halls, and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views, and show your support.

    So I guess our mobs are bad, while theirs are good. I wonder what will happen when the mobs meet. I remember the union thugs in Philly a few years back beat a protester at a Clinton event. Since the Democrats rely heavily on unions for their “events” I can see the same thing happening again. Y’all watch out for those purple shirts.

    Oh, and that message was paid for with DNC funds, too.

  • Chester Co. Peace Movement: You’re Nazis

    I got this in my email this morning forwarded from someone who decided to send it to the White House to investigate as “fishy”. It’s from Karen Porter, the nutjob who organizes the Chester County Peace Movement in Pennsylvania – the same group that physically attacked our buddy Skye;

    These people [folks protesting the President’s impending policies] are (1) not going to surrender power to a black man and (2) fanatics who will stop at nothing. I mean nothing. Got that?

    Nothing.

    It’s time that all of you understand that if you didn’t before. Some of you probably still don’t have the ability to understand how dark certain forces can be – if you can’t understand it, please go back and read some pre-World War II German history. Then maybe you’ll understand the gravity of this situation we face. Hard economic times. Scapegoating. Racial and ethnic hatred. Violence. Paranoia. Anti-intellectualism. Religious fanatacism. Sexism. Powerful money interests pulling so-called “populist” strings. What I see happening right now in this country has happened before – about 70 years ago in Germany, friends.

    Yes, you folks out there exercising your rights to freely assemble and speak your minds are nothing but a bunch of racist Nazis. besides being a poor student of history, Karen Porter has all the earmarks of a serious drama queen.

    Added: I just figured out who sent me this email. I’m not used to seeing Skye’s real name.

  • White House charges “astroturf”

    I’ve written over the last few days about how the Democrats aren’t very happy with folks using the same tactics that they used against Republicans for eight years in regards to the healthcare debate. The White House jumped into the fight yesterday when Naked Emperor released a video which had the President in his own words describing this healthcare as the impetus for single-payer, government-run healthcare. Somehow, the White House got away with calling the President a liar.

    The Washington Times writes this morning that now the White House is accusing Republicans of “astroturfing” the discussion with organized groups of professional protesters funded by well-heeled lobbyists. Really? Have they seen the RNC’s website lately? here’s a screen shot for you;

  • Obama promises to keep VA care separate from his plan

    rehbeinobama

    The American Legion National Commander, David K. Rehbein met privately with the President this morning and left with a promise that the President will keep his hands off of Veterans’ care in his bloated, sweeping plan to rope the rest of America into something they don’t need;

    “(I) got his very strong assurance the VA as our veterans know it will continue to exist,” said National Commander David K. Rehbein. “It will not be diluted or folded into some sort of national system and that the folks who go to the VA…that will be considered their insurance, so any insurance requirements (will be met) simply by being enrolled in the VA.”

    Of course there’s another problem, too, getting enrolled;

    The vexing problem of a dramatically growing backlog of VA benefits claims was also considered by the two. Rehbein said he feels the president “fully appreciates” its gravity and will do what he can to aid in its solution.

    It seems to me that Shinseki would have solved that one by now, but that’s just me, because I had such high hopes for the guy who single-handedly got the whole Army new hats from China.

    But the fact that VSOs had to go get a guarantee from the President that he wouldn’t touch veterans’ care has me worried.

    Rehbein, obviously pleased with the meeting’s outcome, characterized the 25-minute White House chat as “very friendly…conversational in style” in which “issues were discussed rather than positions being presented.”

    From The Armorer;

    I’ve also heard that TRICARE will not be affected. And, we know Congress won’t be affected. The rest of you however…

  • The single-payer Trojan horse

    Drudge has linked to this video, that shows, in Obama’s own words, how he hopes his plan will eventually become a single payer (government-run) plan;

    The White House has taken exception to the President’s own words and put out this video, featuring Linda Douglass a former network correspondent, to tell you not to believe your lying eyes;How do we know what to believe? Obama has come down on every side of every issue. It’s not like Drudge was moving the President’s lips to make these words come from his mouth.

    Louisiana Congressman John Fleming has introduced a common sense bill in the House H.R. 615 (.pdf);

    Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Rep2
    resentatives that Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, Federal Government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option.

    That ought to kill the whole healthcare thing – everyone in Congress who votes for the public option health care plan would be required to sign up for it. Sign the petition at Fleming’s website (above) and tell your Representative to get on board.

  • Questions about a middleclass tax hike

    A month ago, when asked about whether the Obama Administration wouold raise taxes on middle class Americans, Robert Gibbs said “We’re going to let the process work it’s way through” meaning no one was going to mention tax increases, but they weren’t off the table.

    This weekend, White House officials made it clear that tax hikes on the middleclass were inevitable.

    Yesterday, when asked about tike increases on families making over $250k, Gibbs said “The President won’t raise takes on those making more than $250,000”;

    So, of course, there probably won’t be tax hikes in the marginal tax rates, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to pay taxes on other things – like the $.51/pack tax hike on cigarettes earlier in the year. They could could take away the tax advantages of 401ks and IRAs (my biggest fear). Make no mistake, we’re going to start paying more in taxes by the end of this year. And it’ll probably be George Bush’s fault.

  • Common sense replaced by federal law

    How many of you think that texting while driving your car is a good idea. Raise your hands. That’s what I thought…none of you. There are sufficient local laws that make it it illegal to talk to talk on your cell phone and text while you’re driving. Have any of you seen less incidents of people phoning and driving? Of course not. Mostly because we know that the government doesn’t really intend to enforce those laws. it’s just their way of trying to convince us that bureaucrats care about us.

    That’s why the President is initiating a dialogue about texting and driving according to Fox News;
