Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum in Bayeux meets TAH

Plaque

One of our members, Toasty Coastie, is in Normandy, France this week celebrating her wedding anniversary. She made up a plaque from the coins that you guys bought last month for the Caisson Platoon of the Old Guard and presented it to Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum in Bayeux, France.

Plaque presentation

She sends this message to the readers at TAH;

On behalf of Monsieur Philippe Paris, Victoria Mazzocchi, Evan Bazire, and Thibauol Rupp of the Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum of Bayeux France, we thank you.

More news will follow in June. The Museum’s Facebook page is at this link.

Toasty, I blame the three previous commenters above me for spelling your name wrong.
      Sorry!
And to you three up above, you suck. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. OWB

        Yeah, well all right then…

As long as it doesn’t change my paycheck, I can live with the blame. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, I have a good explanation. Pick one.

          A) I had Tostitos in mind. I likes them. They is good.

          B) We had a vote and changed the spelling of her name to match Coastie. Unfortunately, we forgot to tell Jonn.

          c) We screwed up.

    BRAVO ZULU OVER.

Now, I know I’m gonna catch a lot of shit, but I think Toasty meant “The Old Guard Caisson Platoon” not “The Old Guard Platoon”. I’ve got my Tyvex suit on,so have at it. Still a great thing however.

      BliueCord Dad-
Lol you are right…missed it and was too late to fix as it had already gone to the ingravers.

    Hi everyone ๐Ÿ™‚
Hanging out here in Provence, France. It was my honour to do the plaque. However, I had help. Please help me thank Ex-Ph2 for doing the French translation. I think it made all the difference.

Come June, the folks at the museum are doing a full dress re-enactment of D-Day (shy of weapons now due to terrorist laws) and the plaque will be officially dedicated. You may not know, but Bayeux was the first village liberated after invasion D+1. It is still intact and the way it was back then. The Chateau we stayed at did have a battle occur for its liberation while the Germans left most of downtown alone, they used this as an officer’s quarters and did not just retreat.

For those of you on my FB page, you can see pictures of the museum and cemetery, and a couple of the re-enactors in full dress from WWII. Very cool.

So I am off for now, must go drink yummy wine and eat cool food. Be well everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

      “Ya done good, kid.” (smile)

Enjoy Normandy – even if you have to drink wine instead of beer. (smile)
