  • All VoteVets, All the Time

Sorry, but catching up on a ton of VoteVets related emails.  Amazing how many emails I get about these F*tards.  Anyway, someone sent me this press release from VV about the Global Warming Fiasco Bill.

“Finally, we’re serious about getting off foreign oil and protecting America,” said Jon Soltz, Chairman of VoteVets.org and an Iraq War Veteran. “Billions in middle east oil money have gone to the same terrorists we’re fighting, endangering our troops, and putting America at risk. The House took a great step forward today to cut that addiction to foreign oil, and now the Senate has to follow suit. This is about the security of troops and America. The Senate must pass it.”

That is in line with my previous post, wherein he cites bullshit data which he can’t even begin to defend. But, VV played an active role in the passage of the bill, just look:

VoteVets.org was incredibly active in pushing for passage of the bill in the House. VoteVets.org: […]
Ran over a million dollars’ worth of television ads urging members to vote for the bill. Ads were run in the home districts of Reps. Matheson (UT), Green (TX), Gonzalez (TX), Melancon (LA), Pomeroy (ND), Ross (AR), and Barrow (GA)

Just for giggles, I looked at the votes cast by those 7 Congressmen. 1 Million dollars and they got 5 “no” votes, and 2 “yes” votes. But, did they actually turn the yes votes?

    From Green’s Press Release:

Washington, DC – Representative Gene Green today voted in favor of H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, which passed the House of Representatives 219-212.

Representative Green gave this statement in support of the legislation on the floor of the House of Representatives: […]

I represent the Port of Houston, a petrochemical complex that stretches along the Texas Gulf Coast and is home to thousands of chemical industry and petroleum refining jobs.

We cannot allow the petrochemical and refining industries to migrate out of America. They are vital to our economic and national security, and we cannot outsource this capability.

These energy-intensive industries could be left vulnerable to foreign competitors not facing carbon regulations if we do not carefully craft transitional policies to prevent job loss and strengthen U.S. industries at home.

I want to thank Congressman Inslee and Congressman Doyle for putting forward a proposal to provide 15% of free allowances to emissions-intensive industries to address competitiveness concerns especially in the chemical industry.

In other words, Green voted for it because it brought home more subsidies to his district. It had nothing to do with all that nonsense that Soltz was talking.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, the only one who spreads more fertilizer than the Archer Daniels Midland Company is Jon Soltz.

    tunguska
(Those worried about a Tunguska event occurring any time soon can find solace in the words of NASA engineer Orville Reddenbacher MacGillicuddy who said that “such an event is as unlikely as two original and salient thoughts colliding in the skull of Jon Soltz.”)

    From Space.com:

Ever since something generated a huge explosion over Siberia in 1908, flattening an area as big as a large city, scientists have been trying to figure out what caused it.

Among the enduring mysteries: Following the explosion, the night skies shone brightly for several nights across Europe all the way to London, 3,000 miles away.

While there are some wild theories about the Tunguska event — involving a UFO or black hole or a bizarre death ray — astronomers have long known the culprit was either a comet or an asteroid. Based on the lack of a crater, scientists say the object did not smack into the ground, but rather exploded above the surface, the damage being done by the resulting shock wave.

But which type of space rock was it?

New evidence from an unlikely source — water vapor in the exhaust plumes of space shuttles launched a century later — points to a comet.

Kind of an interesting article if you are into Science. I had a roommate in college that was inordinately afraid of comet strikes. For me, I always harbored a secret fascination with Tsunamis.

  • What is this assclown talking about, Part Deux

    Stoltz:

We’ve got to pass this energy bill, and if we do that it can reduce our dependance on foreign oil by a quarter or a third…

Got a source on that one?

Of course he doesn’t. This bill does no such thing and he knows it. Yet again stealing the name of Veterans and using it to bludgeon a political point. This bill will drive low ranking enlisted men and women further in debt, and Jon couldn’t give a shit, so long as his overlords are pleased with his effort.

Thankfully this bill has no chance of passage, but here’s Jon showing his stripes again. Everytime he says that he works on behalf of veterans, we’ll be there to call him on his bullshit.

  • Code Pink Transvestite Running for Senator

Midge Potts, former Navy Man, now Code Pink Woman is running for US Senate.  Go to the link and watch the story of Midge, but I like the deucedly fine tenor of her/his voice in this classic ballad about love, war and spiritual redemption.

Vote Midge: At least with her you know you are getting nuts.
    Vote Midge: 38, 24, 36 or fight.
Vote Midge: Tippencanoe and Tyler, Seth, Bruce, Elton and N’Sync too.
Vote Midge: I like Ike! And Jimbo! And Spike! And Bears! (Grrrrr)

Ok people, give me more slogans.

You can donate to Midge on her/his website.

  • The Adam Kokesh Campaign, stihl lernyng to spele

kokesh What is a “transormation” Adam? Somewhere there is an idiot who is voting for this guy to be the head of his village.

    BTW Adam, you wrote:

On July 4th, 1776, 56 brave men pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor so that we might one day as a nation enjoy the blessings of liberty.

    Not entirely accurate.

America’s independence was actually declared by the Continental Congress on July 2, 1776. The night of the second the Pennsylvania Evening Post published the statement: “This day the Continental Congress declared the United Colonies Free and Independent States.”
    […]
Most delegates signed the document on August 2, when a clean copy was finally produced by Timothy Matlack, assistant to the secretary of Congress. Several did not sign until later. And their names were not released to the public until later still, January 1777. The event was so uninspiring that nobody apparently bothered to write home about it. Years later Jefferson claimed to remember the event clearly, regaling visitors with tales of the flies circling overhead. But as he was wrong about the date, so perhaps he was wrong even about the flies.

  • It’s a wrap: Washington City placed second.

I dispute the scoring system, but we lost 821 to 816.  Congrats to James City.  I will have a full wrap, including the speech of my guy that won best speaker sometime this week.  In the meantime, here’s a picture of my city, and the State Lt Gov, Sahil “what brown can do for you”  Patel.

    city

The dark haired kid in the back is going to USMA, and the one to the right will be the first member of his family to go to college.  All 3 were OUTSTANDING citizens.

  • Does anyone know what this assclown is talking about?

At about 1:20 in he says that the “115’s in Iraq” don’t have enough armor or some such. Is he talking about the M1115 Tow vehicles, or is he just making up stuff again? The only “115” I could find is a Toshiba Satellite for TV, so maybe he just couldn’t get the oxygen channel in his motor pool hooch where he filled out his phenomenally well done DA Forms.

UPDATE: My appologies to Soltz, I was giving him too much credit, apparently he was talking about the M115 trailer, chasis, 1/4-ton, (G747).  I heard that is where he kept his back issues of Teen Beat magazine and the Bad Guys (that weren’t there until the Bush Family Evil Empire’s illegal and immoral war for oil) were trying to steal them from him.

  • VA Boys State Day 5, Washington Citizen Sahil Patel: “Ask what brown can do for you.”

Update: 2nd in Ping Pong, 3rd in Soccer and Basketball, 4th in Volleyball. Wash city is disappointed, but we should still be okay. Our room results from inspection is MIA, hopefully find out at dinner.

Another great 24 hours for my boys.  LOTS of updates, so I am going to put the bulk of this after the jump.

NOt sure where I left off to be honest, but yesterday the Lt Gov of VA, Bill Bolling spoke to the citizens, and today it was Governor Kaine.  Somehow I ended up first in the receiving line and got to shake the Gov’s hand.  Not a big fan of his politics by any stretch, but he is a very impressive speaker and is very affable.  The boys enjoyed his discussion immensely, and cut him no slack on questions.  Some dealt with tax issues, the Gov’s support for coal electrical plants, his dual role as Chairman of the DNC, and a host of questions about his vetting process for VP.  Last night the citizens also had a display by the state police of their working dogs, and then a VERY inspirational speech by a young man who’s life had been affected by drunk driving.  I missed that address, but the citizens came back and said it was very moving, very inspirational, and they quite clearly were deeply moved by what they heard.
