  • An Exception to Every Rule.

Once a Marine, always a Marine, or so the saying goes. Congressman Murtha is the exception to that rule. Marines have an awesome Esprit de Corps, they think there is nothing that they can’t do, just because they are Marines and you aren’t. They say “Gung Ho” and mean it, they are hard chargers.

Jack Murtha, on the other hand is not, he isn’t a hard charger at all. Here he is AGAIN saying the US cannot win in Iraq militarily. “Look at all the people that have been displaced, all the [lost] oil production, unemployment, all those type of things,” said Rep. John P. Murtha, chairman of Appropriations defense subcommittee. “We can’t win militarily.” It is that old self-fulfilling prophecy thing again, no, you can’t win if you don’t try to, and it is clearly harder to win when the congressional “leaders” keep spouting off in the press that it is impossible for you to win.

How is it, that in 2000 Al Gore and Company accused George W Bush of “Talking down the economy” and that was supposed to be some kind of horrific thing to do, but when Murtha and his congressional Dopes (er Doves) tell us the US military cannot win, that is not supposed to have any impact on the morale of the troops or the people of the US.

The one thing Americans have always excelled at is exceeding the expectations of others. I am sure the court of King George III thought “They can’t beat us…” But, they did, and soundly. There were those who said man would never fly, but, the Wright brothers did that. Americans can do anything we set our minds to do, and no number of pantywaist ex-Marine congressmen will change that, no matter how much they try. But, he supports the troops! (Like a rubber crutch…)

  • Your Tax Dollars at Work

    NY Post Picture
Yeah, that is a quiz from East Side Middle School in New York City. Rather than ensure the children can read and write, a group of teachers (Evan Klein, Michael Feder and Melissa Nathan) would rather push some kind of agenda on them. The questions, while seemingly straight forward are akin to a political “Push Poll” where the object is to get the desired answers, not an honest survey. Living in California and having my son in sixth grade, I am somewhat surprised I haven’t seen more of this kind of thing. NYPost story

  • But, but Canada’s Socialized Health Care is Better than Ours…

    I guess it isn’t…
I may be missing something, but, if socialized medicine is better, should a heart attack victim be forced to cross an international border to get medical care in a country with an “inferior” medical system?

See, this is where Michael Moore should have lost everyone with ½ a brain, if our medical is so horrible here, and socialized medicine is SO much better, why aren’t people flocking to countries that have it? Do world leaders seek surgeries in Canada or Cuba? Hell No! Castro even had SPANISH doctors…

  • Cocaine, the New Blood Diamond *Bonus, UN Blames Celebs*

Use of cocaine by celebrities is encouraging death and destruction worldwide. So says a UN official.
“One song, one picture, one quote that makes cocaine look cool can undo millions of dollars worth of anti-drug education and prevention,” read the text of a speech by the head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Antonio Maria Costa.

“All these celebrity role models, turned into junkies, have in fact spent a lot of time in rehab lately, and their lives are a mess,” he said at a conference in Madrid.
In Colombia, cocaine has also provided hundreds of millions of dollars to fund Marxist rebels and far-right paramilitaries, claiming thousands of lives a year, mainly poor peasants

I will now blame Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan (Among others…)for this cocaine induced strife.

  • The Kossacks on The Las Vegas Debate

CNN seems to think Hillary won. Those reasonable people at the dailykos think otherwise. They have a poll.
And the winner is: Kuchinich, in a tie with Obama.
As much the idea of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama scares me, putting that little weasel in office would be worse.

  • Mona Charen Talks To Ron Paul Supporters

Real Clear Politics has this outstanding column by Mona Charen. Here’s an excerpt:
1.. Ron Paul is inconsistent. Though he calls himself a man of principle and is apparently admired as such by his ardent fans, his principles seem somewhat elastic. He rails against the Bush administration for its supposed assault on civil liberties, yet when he was asked at one of the debates whether Scooter Libby deserved a pardon, he said no. “He doesn’t deserve one because he was instrumental in leading the Congress and the people to support a war that we didn’t need to be in.” Notice that he didn’t say it was because Libby was guilty of committing a crime. No, because Libby argued for a policy with which Paul disagreed, he deserved to serve time in prison. Ron Paul, the libertarian, who presumably values liberty above all, is willing to deprive someone else of his because of a policy disagreement?
It is a short and sweet little write up.

  • Another Day, Another Victory For Political Correctness and Loss for Security

As I told you HERE the LAPD had planned to map where Muslims lived to provide them with an idea of where trouble could start. Well, they wussed out. The big bad LAPD buckled under the protest of CAIR, the ACLU and others.
We hear the hackneyed line Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. That’s nice, if misguided. I submit that those who value inoffensive behavior over safety are doomed to suffer the will of those not concerned with niceties. Breitbart and AFP have the story. If people claiming to be Presbyterians were strapping on explosive laden vests and blowing themselves up in public places, they’d need to be watched. But, that isn’t the reality we find ourselves in. Yes, we are told that Islam is the “Religion of Peaceâ„¢” and indeed, the majority of Muslims are peaceful, law abiding people. The cold hard fact is, that the majority of terrorists in the world today claim to be Muslim. It is irresponsible NOT to look closely at Muslim communities and groups.

  • Another Day, Some More False Philanthropy

Al Gore is now a partner in the venture capital firm venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He’s going to donate his salary to “Charity” Well, not really,he is donating it to the Alliance for Climate Protection where he is a member of the board of directors. What a noble gesture, Al, giving money to a charity where you sit as chairman of the board… Wow, I’m inspired. NY Times story
