  • The Election Will Be Stolen, Again!

With Hillary’s Quixotic quest refusing to face the naked reality of defeat and Obama limping toward the Democrat nomination, the MSM is left to make excuses for the very possible November defeat.

Just on cue, MSNBC leads the charge.

NBC’s Mitchell Suggests GOP Officials May Cheat Obama in November During MSNBC’s live coverage of the Kentucky and Oregon Democratic presidential primaries on Tuesday night, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell seemed to take seriously suggestions by Hillary Clinton campaign members who argued that Republicans in control of the election process in some red states Barack Obama hopes to carry may deny him a “fair vote.” Mitchell: “Other people, I should point out, other Clinton loyalists, but realists, say that that electoral map is a stretch in one regard: There are…Republican Governors and Secretaries of State, if you will, Katherine Harris-type election officials in those states….he has to go up against the establishment, which would be Republican, and he has to figure out a way to get a fair vote if he’s the nominee in those red states.”

This logic is like the Truthers and conspiracy nuts out there. If the evil Bush-Cheney cabal had developed some evil inside plan to execute 9-11 and had the ability to keep it a secret for so long; what is to prevent them from sneaking down to your mother’s basement and offing your sorry ass?

Using the same logic, what were all of the evil Republicans doing in 2006? Or was it part of a brilliant conspiracy to expose the unbelievable incompetence of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi?

Just how has that “Sweeping Change” in 2006 worked out so far?

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
    3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet
    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon
    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase)
    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses)
    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

  • Is This Woman Even Close to Sane?

In a last minute trip to Baghdad over the weekend, I almost asserted that Nancy Pelosi had finally gotten smacked by the Clue Bat.

And what exactly did she learn on her surprise visit to Iraq?

Pelosi, a top Democratic critic of the U.S.-led war in Iraq, expressed confidence that expected provincial elections will promote national reconciliation.

She welcomed Iraq’s progress in passing a budget as well as oil legislation, and a bill paving the way for the provincial elections in the fall that are expected to more equitably redistribute power among local officials.

“We’re assured the elections will happen here, they will be transparent, they will be inclusive and they will take Iraq closer to the reconciliation we all want it to have,” said Pelosi. She also met with Iraq’s parliament speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker and Gen. David Petraeus, the top American commander in Iraq.

Spin-free translation: THE SURGE IS WORKING.

Don’t believe me? Contrast this statement with what she said on CNN in February:

“There haven’t been gains, Wolf,” the speaker replied. “The gains have not produced the desired effect, which is the reconciliation of Iraq. This is a failure. This is a failure.

Like I said; THE SURGE IS WORKING.

Then, less than 48 hours later, safely back in DC and after an apparent Kool-Aide transfusion:

Yesterday, in an interview on NPR, Pelosi was her old self:

SEABROOK: And what was your message to them?

PELOSI: My message to them is a constant message. It’s a message that we voted last week in Congress: that the American people have lost patience with this war, we’ve lost far too many of our young men and women, we have too many injuries, we have loss in reputation in the world, loss in taxpayers’ dollars, loss in capability to meet our threats to our country and our friends wherever they may occur; that we had passed last week legislation that would call for the responsible, honorable and safe redeployment of our troops out of Iraq by the end of 2009.

SEABROOK: And I understand you speak with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki about provincial elections.

PELOSI: Prime Minister al-Maliki and the speaker both told us that the provincial elections would take place this year, that they would be transparent, inclusive, and that they would lead to reconciliation in Iraq.
I hope that’s the case. That’s what they maintained. But then we’ve heard that song before. ***

[T]he Iraqi government has had the opportunity with the secured time that the surge has given them to make the political changes necessary. They have not done that. ***

SEABROOK: Speaker Pelosi, you were last in Iraq just after the Democrats, you, took the majority in the House of Representatives. Have you seen any progress?

PELOSI: There may be a little progress. I don’t know. It’s not obvious.
And whatever it is, it’s certainly not enough for the cost it has been to us in terms of lives and dollars and reputation and military capability.

That’s not nuance folks; that’s just plain crazy.

  • Foreign Policy is not for Amateurs

Senator Barack Obama is still seething over the “Appeasement” issue.

Today in a stump speech from Montana he defended his position of holding direct “talks” with the terror supporting regime in Iran by citing other events where, in his view, direct talks saved the day.

To illustrate his point, he cited the successful “diplomacy” that averted a nuclear showdown with Russia during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Time for another history lesson for the junior senator.

President Kennedy’s first public statement on the crisis occurred on October 22, 1962. This was a statement to the world, nationally broadcast. There was no direct communication between he and Russia.

“It shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from Cuba against any nation in the Western Hemisphere as an attack on the United States, requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union.”

That’s not negotiation Senator, that’s called “Cross this line and I’ll kick your ass!”

In the same statement Kennedy said:

“To halt this offensive buildup, a strict quarantine on all offensive military equipment under shipment to Cuba is being initiated. All ships of any kind bound for Cuba from whatever nation and port will, if found to contain cargoes of offensive weapons, be turned back. This quarantine will be extended, if needed, to other types of cargo and carriers.”

A “quarantine” is a blockade senator. A blockade is not a negotiation, it is a military operation. And don’t go “lawyer” on me; a “quarantine” IS a “blockade” and a blockade IS a military action and an overt act of war.

This is not new doctrine either. It traces back further than the Spartan blockade of Athens following the Battle of Aegospotami in 404 BC or more recently during the Egyptian blockades of the Straits of Tiran prior to the 1956 Suez War and the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. All of these resulted in wars.

Kennedy then immediately increased air surveillance and established complete air superiority over the sovereign nation of Cuba. That too, senator was a military operation and an act of war.

In that same statement, Kennedy also “directed the Armed Forces to prepare for any eventualities”.

This was Kennedy’s flavor of “negotiating” in a situation where, as threatening as it was, not one American had been killed.

Iran has directly caused the deaths of hundreds of Americans and is without a doubt the most threatening regime in the Middle East and like Cuba has raised the stakes internationally on the nuclear issue.

So senator, when are you going to issue a Kennedy-esque “Cross this line and I’ll kick your ass!” message?

  • More on the All-Powerful and Omnipotent United Nations

I started this as a comment to Jonn’s earlier post but as I started writing it, I realized that maybe it should be a post of its own.

Do you know why submarines don’t have screen doors? Because that would be useless, right? But the UN is more than useless. It is in fact a screaming boil on the ass of humanity!

Oh yeah and it is a CONFIRMED anti-Israel organization.

Here is a short list of United Nations failures involving the Arabs and Israelis:

1956: Took no action when Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal blocking all Israeli shipping that led to the Suez war of 1956.

1967: The Secretary General withdrew UN peace- keeping forces from Gaza clearing the way for yet another war.

1974: The Secretary General invited the greatest terrorist of the 20th century, Yasser Arafat, to address the General Assembly.

1975: The United Nations General Assembly adopted, by a vote of 72 to 35 (with 32 abstentions), its Resolution 3379, which states as its conclusion: Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.

2000: UNIFIL obstructed investigation, if not directly involved, of Hezbollah kidnapping of Israeli soldiers

The Security Council has been all but openly anti-Israel. Through 1989, the Security Council had issued a total of 175 resolutions. Ninety seven condemned Israel and a total for all Arab nations equaled four.

The General Assembly’s record is no better. Through the same period as above the General Assembly passed 690 resolutions with an amazing 429 against Israel. Other than administrative and logistics concerns regarding peace keeping forces, the General Assembly has not voted against an Arab position since 1949!

The long list of colossal failures of this sanctioned gang of tyrants, dictators and despots goes way beyond Israel.

Let’s look at just the last 12 years. It goes without saying that there were no real accomplishments of the UN in that period and none likely on the horizon.

The Rwandan Genocide: Estimates vary but an average of a million people died while the UN Security Council debated and ultimately never made a decision.

The Second Congo War: In spite of UN Security Council Resolution 1291, nearly 5 million people have died and sporadic fighting is still ongoing.

The Srebrenica Massacre: The UN designated this area a “safe haven” and sent UN troops to secure it. The Dutch troops stood by and watched over eight thousand young males killed.

UN Security Council resolutions 1559 and 1701: These Resolutions called for the disarmament of paramilitary organizations in Lebanon including Fatah and Hezbollah. The UN established posts in southern Lebanon that actually acted as cover for the very organizations that it was supposed to disarm.

Yet this is the organization that the Democrats are willing, even urging, all foreign policy decisions to be handed to.

“The United Nations is an uplifting experiment, dedicated to raising the standards of living in Africa, the consciences of democracies, and the price of prostitutes in New York”

    Frank Dane

The United Nations has been a complete failure. It has been a failure in more than just the sense that it hasn’t been able or willing to fulfill its intended purpose. Its deep rooted corruption and ineptitude has actually manifested into an organization counter to anything of redeemable value.

  • Is There Any Doubt that Democrats Loath the Military?

    Bill Clinton famously articulated this:

The following is Bill Clinton’s December 1969 letter to his ROTC Director, Colonel Eugene Holmes. This text was taken verbatim from “SLICK WILLIE”, by Floyd G. Brown. Not a word has been changed.

“I am writing too in the hope that my telling this one story will help you to understand more clearly how so many fine people have come to find themselves still loving their country but loathing the military…”

That is unless they can hype up their military service for purely political leverage. John Kerry’s spectacular three months in Vietnam and Max Cleland’s heroic stories of combat in Vietnam that turned out to be a dumb ass who blew himself up on a beer run are great examples.

Hillary Clinton even claimed to have tried to join the Marines:

She told the group gathered for lunch in the Dirksen Office Building, according to The Associated Press, that she became interested in the military in 1975, the year she married Bill Clinton and the year she was teaching at the University of Arkansas law school in Fayetteville.

She was 27 then, she said, and the Marine recruiter was about 21. She was interested in joining either the active forces or the reserves, she recalled, but was swiftly rebuffed by the recruiter, who took a dim view of her age and her thick glasses. ‘Not Very Encouraging’

To believe this story of course “requires the suspension of disbelief”. 1975 was the year she married Bill. They were both teaching law in Arkansas where Bill was already seen as a shoe-in to be the next Attorney General.

And we are to believe that this newlywed to a rising star was trying to join the Marines?

Now the noted social anthropologist, Tom Harkin has declared that growing up in a military family is “dangerous”.

According to Senator Harkin, (D-IA), this is a bad thing. Not just bad, but potentially dangerous:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, “and he has a hard time thinking beyond that,” Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.

“I think he’s trapped in that,” Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. “Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous.”

Harkin said that “it’s one thing to have been drafted and served, but another thing when you come from generations of military people and that’s just how you’re steeped, how you’ve learned, how you’ve grown up.”

Of course Harkin was busted as a fake war hero years ago. Since he can’t claim to be a war hero any longer, he has now decided that even being in a military family is “dangerous”.

    Harkin’s heroic service.

With the exception of political posturing, these people do in fact “loath the military”.

  • Ask an Infantryman

While Jonn is taking one for the team wallowing with the antiwar freak show, I’ll take a minute to answer an email from some troll who is totally down with the religion of peace gang. Though not a theologian, I’ll try to answer his question.

What fascists like you can’t answer is the obvious and selfless devotion to one’s faith in the true Prophet that he is willing to strap explosives on and lay down his own life in service to Allah. Answer that infidel!

    Dear goat-humping, 7th century, savage:

    Let’s see now…

    No Jesus
    No Christmas
    No television
    No cheerleaders
    No Nude Women
    No NASCAR
    No football
    No tailgate parties
    No pork BBQ
    No hot dogs
    No lobster
No shellfish, or even frozen fish sticks
    No nachos
    No Beer !!!!!!!!
Rags for clothes and towels for hats.
Constant wailing from the guy next-door because he’s sick and there are no doctors.
Constant wailing from the guy in the tower.
    You can’t shave.
    Your wives can’t shave.
You can’t shower to wash off the smell of donkey cooked over burning camel dung.
Your bride is picked by someone else.
She smells just like your donkey.
But your donkey has a better disposition.
Then they tell you that when you die it all gets better!

I mean, really, is there a mystery here?

    Hope this helps.

  • A Thank You and an Introduction

First, a huge thank you to Jonn for letting me post here. I hope that I can occasionally offer something of value in the dialogue.

Jonn’s introduction was typical of him, very understated. The following is an excerpt from a Valorous Unit Award that Jonn and I helped to secure:

The 41st Infantry was called upon to deploy to Southwest Asia to prepare for the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi hands. On 15 February 1991, Task Force 1-41 IN began firing on the enemy. TF 1-41 was the first coalition force to breach the Saudi Arabian border and conduct ground combat operations in Iraq. For six hours the task force engaged a brigade sized element. A tenacious and determined enemy occupied extremely well prepared and heavily fortified bunkers. Task force elements dismounted and engaged the Iraqis in numerous short range fire fights while methodically clearing the extensive bunker complex. By morning, the Task Force had systematically reduced the entrenched enemy position in zone.

More to Jonn specifically. He was one of the best NCOs I ever worked with and believe me, that is high praise considering some of the icons of the Infantry community that I have worked with.

I also bring a perspective of having a son in the 82nd Airborne Division that just returned from his third tour and a daughter in the 4th Infantry Division. She’s a 2LT and has not yet deployed and obviously she’s not Infantry.

So, I hope to post things that are relevant and hopefully make us all think a bit deeper.

I will also post some complete nonsense because I have been known for years as a wise cracking smart-ass.

Jonn wrote: I’ll be busy this morning at the IVAW Congressional hearings, so ya’all have fun welcoming Danny.  And a big thanks to Danny for joining our discussions. We’ve got some pretty experienced wise-cracking smartasses, too.

  • Hillary’s Albatross

Well, this should sink Hillary but it won’t.  See these people (dumb assed Democrats) would vote for Stalin over Bush.  Do any of these morons realize that Bush is not on the 2008 ballot?

Voters oppose driver’s licenses for illegal aliens by a nearly five-to-one margin, a new Fox 5/Washington Times/Rasmussen Reports poll finds. As immigration politics explode into the presidential race, polls show Americans are taking a hard line on benefits for illegal aliens, including opposing driver’s licenses and such taxpayer-funded benefits as scholarships at state colleges for illegal-alien students.

The new poll found 77 percent of the adults surveyed opposed making driver’s licenses available to illegal aliens, while just 16 percent supported the idea. The 16% should be jailed and the 7% who don’t know should be hospitalized!
