  • What’s Up with Barry’s Secret Documents?

And by that I mean fairly innocuous documents. His refusal to release his birth certificate is a bit puzzling. I seriously doubt there is anything on a birth certificate that would be a show stopper for Barry and actually it could help defuse some of the rumors floating about.

I’d like to see another fairly benign document; his registration for Selective Service. It is required by law and would definitely disqualify him for the job he is seeking.

    FEDERAL JOBS
A man must be registered to be eligible for jobs in the Executive Branch of the Federal government and the U.S. Postal Service. Proof of registration is required only for men born after December 31, 1959.

Illinois takes it a couple of steps further.

    ILLINOIS:
Enacted two pieces of legislation: One requires Selective Service registration as a precondition for state student financial aid and the other requires registration as a precondition for state employment. Gov. James Thompson signed these in 1984 and 1989, respectively. On Jan. 1, 2002, an Illinois law became effective requiring men to be registered with Selective Service to obtain a state driver’s license. Gov. George Ryan signed this legislation on July 20, 2001.

This is probably nothing but it would be amazingly stupid if he didn’t bother to register.

  • Windfall Profit Tax Bill Fails

    roll002.jpg
    Are these idiots untrainable?

June 10 (Bloomberg) — Senate Republicans thwarted Democratic-supported legislation that would increase windfall- profit taxes on oil companies such as Exxon Mobil Corp. as Democrats set their sights on tighter energy trading scrutiny.

Democrats fell nine votes shy today of 60 needed to proceed to debate. The White House Office of Management and Budget today threatened a veto of the measure.

The proposal, announced last month, would have imposed a windfall profit tax of $10 billion to $12 billion this year on oil companies, according to Senate Democrats. It also included new margin requirements on oil-futures trades, and aimed to outlaw price gouging.

Energy-related legislation is “going to be an issue we hear about the rest of this spring, all summer and into next fall,” said New York Democratic Senator Charles Schumer, a main advocate of the windfall profit tax.

What’s interesting is that the head socialist himself, Harry Reid voted against it.

    What’s going on here?

Or did he join the anointed Prince of Ass-hats and push the wrong button?

Even the LA Times noticed that Barry has used this excuse several times.

On March 19, 1997, he announced he had fumbled an election-reform vote the day before, on a measure that passed 51 to 6: “I was trying to vote yes on this, and I was recorded as a no,” he said. The next day, he acknowledged voting “present” on a key telecommunications vote.

He stood on March 11, 1999, to take back his vote against legislation to end good-behavior credits for certain felons in county jails. “I pressed the wrong button on that,” he said.

Obama was the lone dissenter on Feb. 24, 2000, against 57 yeas for a ban on human cloning. “I pressed the wrong button by accident,” he said.

  • Barry’s Puma Problem

Remember Ed Hale and his seriously pissed off democrat friends that are now vowing to vote for John McCain? Ed claims to be a gun-owning, red neck Democrat (probably clinging to religion too) that will not support Barack Obama.

Well, Ed’s got more company and from reading the comments it appears to be primarily women. It is a hoot to read though.

Folks, I give you the new political force in the Democrat Party, PUMA – Party Unity My Ass!

The Party Unity My Ass un-Party (PUMA) was born yesterday. We already have many new members. But, some of you may ask, what does it mean? How can we make a difference? Before I get to that, I’d like to refer you to one of Anglachel’s latest posts, The Idea of Obama. I think that what Anglachel is describing is a kind of “puppy love” or an infatuation. The situation we have here is precisely the reason why superdelegates were created in the first place. There is a unacknowledged immaturity about the Obama faction that many parents among us will recognize. Here’s the money quote:

The deep problem of Obama’s campaign is that he and his supporters do not want to face the political reality of their own conflicting desires. They both want to sweep to victory in November and they want to purge the party of anything connected to the Clintons, which includes all of the voting contituencies represented by that amazing and talented duo. The failure of the Unity Pony stems directly from that fantasy of majority status without majority support and the political work and compromises that go with cultivating that support. Thus, their model for unity is unanimity through elimination, purging the ranks of the unclean and unbelievers.

They will not acknowledge that Hilalry is a legitimate political actor and reduce her to an inhuman monster and enemy. They will not acknowledge that her supporters have sound, rational reasons for our support, and reduce us to mindless fools and spoils of war. They shift blame for their own choices and actions onto us and expect that we will cater to their whims.

They even now have a PUMA PAC but this time PUMA means People United Means Action. I like the first one better but this works too.

WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE

Some of us will stay home. Some of us will vote for a third-party. Some of us will write-in Clinton. Many of us will vote for John McCain. This is a protest. Whatever option our members choose, it does not make us Republicans. Those who vote for John McCain will do so as a strategy, a protest. Those of us who withdraw from the Democratic Party and become Independents are still Democrats in our hearts. We are all Democrats. This is our party. The leaders did us wrong. They did Hillary Clinton wrong. They did our country wrong. But it’s still our party.

    We want it back.

Before anyone starts claiming that this lady isn’t a real Democrat, go read the rest of the stuff and the links on her site; or just check the spelling and grammer.

All I can say is, WOW.

  • Hill AFB Unit Misplaces 12 M16’s

To me this is so stupid that it is laughable. Apparently a few Air Force folks were out at a range at Hill AFB “training”. After knocking off for the day at 1500, they loaded all their weapons into a box in the back of a Hummer. Nobody bothered to secure the box or even raise the damn tailgate and naturally, gravity and inertia being what they are, the box slid out.

A container of M-16 machine guns, which fell from the back of a Humvee on Tuesday afternoon at Hill Air Force Base, likely was off the installation within minutes, according to the facility’s security commander.

The box of 12 assault rifles was “probably off the yard fairly quickly,” said Maj. Shannon Smith.
    …….
Hill Air Force Base commander Kathleen Close and Air Base Wing Commander Linda Medler refused through a spokesman to answer questions about the unit involved.

    UPDATE: M16’s Recovered

Hill Security Forces Commander Maj. Shannon Smith said the individual who kept the rifles for over two days acted on a “crime of opportunity” and likely held on to the weapons while trying to decide what to do with them. He said procedures for weapons transferring at Hill are “sound” and that Tuesday’s mishap was a simple mistake, noting that members of the 729th “scoured” the base in search of the M-16s.

Major Smith, why don’t you get Kathleen and Linda and come on over for a quick OPD. First, your “procedures” are no where near “sound”. To suggest so indicates a serious lack of judgment or plain stupidity.

I can’t believe that I need to educate field grade officers on such a simple concept. Individual weapons security is an individual responsibility. That means that only the assigned individual can remove the weapon from the arms room and only that individual can return it; and that individual must maintain positive weapon control 100% of the time in between. In those rare cases when weapons need to be transported in bulk, an armed guard is within eyesight of the container 100% of the time (that means in the bed of the truck with the weapons). Just ask any Corporal, they’ll enlighten you.

But wait, hasn’t Hill AFB been in the news recently?

She praised Hill for being one of the best Air Force bases in the country, despite missteps this year that have included an F-16 firing on a vehicle at the Utah Test and Training Range and missile components being shipped to Taiwan instead of helicopter batteries.

That last one got the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff fired!

“Yes, we’ve had some isolated incidents,” Medler said. “I think the most important thing to do is learn from our mistakes. We will make improvements and continue to move forward.”

“Isolated icidents?” I don’t know about “moving forward” but I can see a “move” in your immediate future.

  • Democrats Supporting the Troops Again

June 6th is a clear day of pride for the American military. Today, you’ll read many articles (rightly so) recalling the heroism of allied forces as they pushed into Europe on June 6, 1944.

Seems like a good time for our nation’s leaders to demonstrate their resolve in supporting American men and women who are today fighting an enemy equally as evil. That’s what you would expect.

So, the country is engaged in fighting a ruthless enemy in multiple theaters; a burden that incidentally is being carried in a large part by the Special Operations community and what do Democrats in congress do for the war effort?

The first hold on two key military promotions was imposed by a Democrat last month. It blocked, among others, the promotion of Army Lt. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal to be the director of the Joint Staff once the Senate confirms his fourth star. Gen. McChrystal will depart as commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, which is on the front line of the war on terrorism.

Also on hold is Navy Rear Adm. William H. McRaven, head of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR), who is slated to replace Gen. McChrystal.

IMHO leaving the helm of the Joint Special Operations Command unmanned, in a time of war, for pure political posturing in nothing short of treason! If this isn’t providing aid to the enemy, what the hell is it!?

I don’t know Admiral McRaven but I have known Stan McChrystal for many years and I can assure you having him as director of the Joint Staff will only make this country stronger.

    More “Change” I suppose.

    Pathetic!

  • Ed Hale is Mad as Hell and He’s not taking it Anymore!

Wow! Have you folks seen Ed Hale’s new website? It’s called Hillary Clinton Supporters for John McCain or simply www.hcsfjm.com.

Hi folks. My name is Ed Hale and I am life long Democrat till May 31, 2008. When I saw those 30 people break the rules and make their own, and then to vote to take away 4 of Hillary Clinton’s delegates, but worst of all, make the uncommitted go for Obama, that was my last straw. What I saw today was what went on in the USSR (Russia) 30 years ago. The Boss’s called the shots, and I decide that I did not want any part of them.

Well, it’s clear that Ed has a case of the raw ass and apparently so does a bunch of folks who have went to the site.

Here’s a couple of comments but there are hundreds more.

Obama did not care to count my vote in June. McCain can count my vote in November. A pissed off Michigan voter. As the lady said “god damn the democrats”

From this day forward, I am a Republician. John Mcain has my vote for Pres. I’ve supported Hillary in every way I could, only to observe the media (MSNBC, NBC, CNN and CBS) bash her. Next came her piers in the Senate. I’m totally disgusted with the Dems.

Oh yeah and in the few minutes it took me to write this, the site meter jumped to 407485 hits!

  • SecDef Cleaning House

    moseley.jpg

The top two people in the US Air Force were fired today. Okay, they’re calling it resigned but we know what it really was.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The military and civilian chiefs of the Air Force are resigning, U.S. officials said Thursday.

Defense officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said that Defense Secretary Robert Gates asked Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley and Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne to step down.

A public announcement was expected later in the day.

Remember last August when a B52 bomber with six nuclear missiles flew across middle America?

Then the USAF sent a bunch of fuses for ballistic missiles to Taiwan. Then Mosely was implicated in a scandal to steer a $50 million sweetheart contract to an old pal.

These incidents were probably enough to make the Secretary a bit concerned but this is not what finally sunk these two.

This was a matter of following orders. In the military, when your boss says to do something and it is not illegal, unethical or immoral, you need to do it. You certainly may protest the order and try to lead your boss in a different direction but simply ignoring the order or actively undermining it will get your ass fired every time.

Secretary Gates has been on these men’s asses since last year to streamline the procedures necessary to get more armed UAV’s into battle. They didn’t do it. In fact, it is rumored that through the USAF legislative liaison office, they encouraged the exact opposite.

Remember Gates is an old CIA hand. These two are lucky they didn’t get water-boarded.

  • Obama’s VP Search Committee

Yesterday I wrote that a candidate’s first presidential decision was his selection of a running mate. Senator Obama pre-empted the norm by announcing his VP search committee. This group offers some insight into Obama’s world.

The Obama camp’s disclosure about the three-person veep vetting team was an effort to change the subject from the long, divisive primary campaign toward the general election.

Kennedy’s name came as a surprise, although she endorsed Obama at a critical time last winter, saying he could be an inspirational leader like her father. She also campaigned for Obama.

Holder is a former federal prosecutor and District of Columbia Superior Court judge who held the No. 2 job at the Justice Department under President Clinton.

Johnson is widely known among Democrats for having helped previous candidates, including John Kerry four years ago, sift through vice presidential possibilities. He is a former chief executive officer for the mortgage lender Fannie Mae. (FNM)

I don’t agree that Caroline Kennedy is such a surprise. After all she has personally performed many duties that would be expected of a Vice President. She ceremoniously christened the USS John F. Kennedy and represented her family at the funeral services of former Presidents Ronald Reagan in 2004 and Gerald Ford in 2007 and at the funeral service of former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson in 2007.

She is also there to make sure that the “Pissed off woman voter” issue isn’t ignored.

Jim Johnson gives a clearer view of what Obama means when he says “change”. He apparently means status quo. Johnson was the brilliant guy who vetted John Kerry’s VP picks and settled on the silky pony. He was also an aide to VP Walter Mondale during the Carter catastrophe. Change means a far left, democrat party insider for over 30 years.

Eric Holder is my favorite on this list, and this guy is all about “change”. Holder was the guy that orchestrated the final scandal of the Clinton administration; pardon-gate. This was a rush of last minute pardons and commutations that Holder by-passed the Justice Department’s procedures to secure.

The list included 16 members of the terror organization FALN. The Senate condemned the action in a floor vote of 95-2.

On Clinton’s last day in office, Holder secured 140 pardons that included drug dealers, thieves, tax cheats and even two members of the terror group Weather Underground (Linda Sue Evans and Susan Rosenberg).

The most famous was Mark Rich. So famous that it led to a congressional investigation.

Prosecutors on the Rich case testified that no one consulted with them before a recommendation went to the president on the Rich pardon.

Rich has been based in Switzerland since 1983, just before he was indicted in the United States, accused of tax evasion on more than $100 million in income, fraud and participating in illegal oil deals with Iran.

Members of Congress pointed out that Rich’s ex-wife, Denise, visited the White House more than a dozen times during Clinton’s presidency and contributed an estimated $450,000 to the president’s library foundation, $1.1 million to the Democratic Party and at least $109,000 to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s bid for the Senate.

“Everything about it seems sleazy,” Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., said at the time.

Rep. Henry Waxman, then senior Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and now its chairman, called the Rich pardon an end run around the judicial process.

This doesn’t appear to be great judgment to me but at least Tony Rezko can expect a very truncated trip to prison.
