Peter Kirsanow at National Review listing the radical ties that Obama has been accumulating for years wrote:

The suggested theme for the 2004 Annual Eugene V. Debs Dinner was Dump Bush and Elect Obama.

From the Chicago Democratic Socialist archives, the actual title of the 2004 event was:

46th Annual Eugene V. Debs – Norman Thomas – Michael Harrington Dinner

Eugene Debs could best be described as the father of American Socialism. He ran for president 5 times as a Socialist.

Norman Thomas was the heir to Debs after his death and also became a perennial presidential candidate as a Socialist. His most famous quote should be cause for concern:

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”

Michael Harrington was the founder of Democratic Socialist of America.

In the early 1980s The Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee merged with the New American Movement, an organization of New Left veterans, forming Democratic Socialists of America. This organization remains the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International.

This organization is 100% in support of Senator Obama.

This is not a small matter because even if Obama is not a Socialist (and that would take a lot of nuance to support), he certainly wants to be seen as one in some circles.

Someone sent this to Demure Thoughts. I thought I would share.

Palin challenged Biden on his position on clean coal technologies. Biden responded by saying that his comments were taken out of context. He said he was talking about providing that technology to China, then went on to talk about something totally unrelated to the subject.

Here’s what he really said:

“No coal plants here in America. Build them if they’re going to build them over there, make them clean.”

So he was talking about China. He wants to give China our clean coal technology and eliminate all coal plants here.

“Say it ain’t so Joe” is proposing killing one of the largest energy industries in America. Oh and naturally lying about it.

In claiming that Dick Cheney was the most dangerous VP in history, Biden said that the 1st Article of the Constitution is clearly about the Executive Branch and not the Legislative.

The problem is that Biden has apparently never read the actual Constitution:

Article I
Section 1. All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.
Section 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of members chosen every second year by the people of the several states, and the electors in each state shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the state legislature.

Sounds pretty legislative to me.

This is not an arguable point. This is a fact.

I know that there is a lot of concern on the right about the recent discovery that the Vice Presidential debate will be moderated by a person with a conflict of interest as gaping as Barney Frank’s ass.

Meet PBS anchor Gwen Ifill. She will be “moderating” Thursday night’s vice presidential debates. She is also the author of the book titled, “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” The book is set to come out on January 20, 2009, coinciding with the presidential inaugaration.

This is more about the circumstances of the conflict than about Ifill’s politics. If Barack Obama is elected president and Ifill’s book is released on inauguration day (as reported) it is guaranteed to be a best seller. If Obama is not elected, it will go down in history selling close to the record numbers Nancy Pelosi’s book generated. Simply put, if Obama wins she gets tons of money; if he loses she not only gets very little money but is humiliated.

I do know that networks and the Presidential Debate Commission are inundated by journalist who want that exposure. I even sent sample questions back in February trying to land the moderator gig for one of the Democrat Debates.

I’m sure no one will call me biased.

Sample Questions Follow:

Congressman Kucinich, do you need a box to stand on? Or are you appealing to the smurf bloc? Just kidding Dennis, lighten up. Seriously, what message will you have to convince the American people to elect a lunatic to be president?

Governor Richardson. Your current standing in the polls is smaller than Dennis and has recently fallen below the “snowball’s chance in hell” level. It has been rumored that you may drop out and endorse Senator Obama against the Clinton machine that really made you in politics. The question is, what efforts have you made to avoid ever visiting Fort Marcy Park in Washington DC?

Senator Edwards. You have been following a more populist message with your “two Americas” rhetoric. In which America do you plan to hide that knocked-up “videographer”?

This is a question for both Senators Biden and Dodd. Seriously, what is it about being somebody’s VP that makes you come out here and look so ridiculous?

Senator Clinton. Other than a non-descript lesbian law professor, what do you think you would be today without your philandering husband and a body count that rivals a serial killer?

And lastly to you Senator Obama. Which of the following long time associates, friends and mentors do you admire the most, and why?
Criminal slumlord Tony Rezko
Racist minister Rev. Jeremiah Wright
Unrepentant terrorist William Ayers

Senator? Senator?

My bride had a sinister thought.

Like me she doesn’t like this big stinking crap sandwich but why would Pelosi get up and do something so amazingly stupid just before the vote?

Is this a trap? More accurately, is this a secret shortcut for Obama to fly in and save the day?

As sinister as this sounds, it is not beyond the Democrats to stage such political theater. Even sadder, it would work like a charm.

This will only work if Pelosi told the 94 Democrats to vote against it this time and she will need them all to reverse course when the savior arrives. This is true because the Republican leadership will smell this rat in about 10 seconds and vote against anything that Obama pushes.

It would pass given the Democrat majority but it will not be bi-partisan.

Given the media spin and the lack of sophistication of a great many voters, I fear it would still work.

Some kind of bill may eventually get passed but Pelosi and her goons got another “MAJOR FAIL”!

It was a pretty much bi-partisan smack down. Pelosi and her lackey Hoyer run the majority and should have had the votes to ram it through in spite of Conservative objections. But there is no Democrat leadership in the congress and damn little in the administration.

They made it up to be sufficiently ginormous to frighten everyone into rapid action.

And it worked.

Why did it really fail?

Two words: NANCY PELOSI

The Republican leadership had worked enough votes to probably pass this thing but then Pelosi couldn’t resist an opportunity for a partisan attack.

Her speech this morning before the vote absolutely poisoned the water.

Did Pelosi single-handedly wreck the US economy? No.

Would she have cared if she had? Absolutely Not.
