  • RIP Colonel Blanchard

    Felix Blanchard

Every veteran’s passing is a sad event for our nation but this one stunned the sleepy town of 5000 on the Guadalupe River in south Texas.

BULVERDE, Texas (AP)—Felix “Doc” Blanchard, the 1945 Heisman Trophy winner and Army’s Mr. Inside in one of college football’s most famous backfields, has died. He was 84.

The bruising fullback Blanchard, listed at 6 feet, 208 pounds, and Glenn Davis, aka Mr. Outside, helped Army win consecutive national titles in 1944-45.

With Blanchard and Davis, Army went 27-0-1 from 1944-46.

Blanchard scored 38 touchdowns and gained 1,908 yards in his three seasons playing at West Point. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the third overall pick, but he never played professional football.

He ended up serving a long career as a fighter pilot in the Air Force, flying in the Korean and Vietnam wars retiring with the rank of Colonel.

One of the most awesome backfields in NCAA history is reunited.

    Godspeed Sir.

I suppose the DHS Secretary can take him off the watch list now.

  • Marilyn Chambers Found Dead in Trailer Park

From mega-star to trailer park; that’s a fall right there.

NBC Los Angeles has the story:

Famed adult film star Marilyn Chambers was found dead in her home in the Canyon Country area, authorities said Monday, and an autopsy was pending to determine how she died.

The 56-year-old Chambers, whose real name was Marilyn Ann Taylor, was found dead around 9 p.m. Sunday in the 16000 block of Vasquez Canyon Road, said Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner’s office.

Chambers broke into the porn industry by appearing in the 1972 film “Behind the Green Door,” which was the first widely released pornographic film in the United States.

Her appearance in the film cost the then-aspiring model and actress her job as Procter & Gamble’s Ivory Snow detergent girl, appearing on the soapbox with a baby and the caption “99 & 44/100% pure.”

  • Next Step?

This is what should appear in the skies over the pirate’s port of origin any hour now. There should not remain a single craft remaining afloat.

  • This needs to be Stopped Today!

The only thing in this story that pisses me off more than the posers sucking off the system with false veteran claims is the unbelievable incompetence at the VA that allows it to happen.

Here’s the back story; apparently the Department of Veterans Affairs is giving benefits to former POWs who were never POWs. The incompetence is so outrageous because the Department of Defense has the list of POWs from every recent war posted on an open access website:

    http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/

Yes folks, it’s a real DoD website and it can be accessed by anyone…even the VA.

There are only 21 surviving POWs from the first Gulf War in 1991, the Department of Defense says. Yet the Department of Veterans Affairs is paying disability benefits to 286 service members it says were taken prisoner during that conflict, according to data released by VA to The Associated Press.

And this is not just some dumbass hanging around the “menopause lounge” preening for whatever he can lure up with a great war story and seven gin tonics. No, these ass clowns are actually getting benefits!

A similar discrepancy arises with Vietnam POWs. Only 661 officially recognized prisoners returned from that war alive — and about 100 of those have since died, according to Defense figures. But 966 purported Vietnam POWs are getting disability payments, the VA told AP.

That means that half of the folks getting benefits from the Vietnam War are frauds! We’re not talking chump change either good people.

For one Korean War veteran, a made-up story helped to ensure more than $400,000 in benefits before his lies were discovered.

But back to the unbelievable incompetence at the VA that led to this widespread fraud that not only dishonors me and many of you who have served; we are paying for this!

Would anyone believe that I developed PTSD from my space shuttle mission when I was an E5? Of course not; no idiot would ever believe that a SGT was ever on the space shuttle. But that does not deter other outrageous and obviously fraudulent claims being supported by the VA.

Four women Vietnam vets blamed disabilities on their time as prisoners — even though there’s no record of female POWs in that war.

And how does one commit this gross fraud? Fairly simple actually. Make up a bullshit story, cry in front of some dumbass shrink and bingo, benefits for life!

I know for a fact that PTSD is real. I don’t personally suffer but I know a bunch of good men who fight this demon daily.

Do you know why PTSD is so often not diagnosed leaving veterans to try to fight an unwinnable battle? Because many veterans will not report the symptoms.

Do you know why they don’t report it? Because so many assholes like these have filed obviously fake claims and an honorable veteran is often reluctant to be categorized with so many posers.

Here is how easy it is:

Normally a veteran’s “lay testimony” about traumatizing events — or stressors — is not considered proof when applying for disability with the Veterans Benefits Administration, or VBA, the agency’s claims arm. However, the regulations add: “If the evidence establishes that the veteran was a prisoner-of-war … the veteran’s lay testimony alone may establish the occurrence of the claimed in-service stressor.”

So, if a veteran told a VA psychiatrist that he had been a POW, and that story, true or not, formed the basis of the doctor’s post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis, what does that mean?

“I would probably accept the paperwork,” says Richard Allen of Wichita, Kan., who retired from the VBA in January after 25 years as a claims specialist.

Apparently the VA’s incompetence is not shared by the Navy who finds it fairly simple to check a readily available DoD list that is online for anyone to read!

And POWs are entitled to an annual evaluation at the Robert E. Mitchell Center for Prisoner of War Studies in Pensacola, Fla., travel and other expenses paid. That applies only to those on the Defense list, says Dr. Robert E. Hain, executive director of the Navy-run facility.

This is an unbelievable outrage! I will propose a solution to this situation in my next post. Right now I need a drink…or two.

  • My Advice to Marine PFC Who is fighting to wear his Uniform to High School Graduation

In case some of you have missed this story; here’s the background:

An El Paso Marine who wants to walk across the graduation stage in his dress blues sees his fight gain national attention.

KFOX was first to tell you about Garrett McCarthy’s battle in March, and Thursday Fox News Channel was in town to cover his story.

McCarthy finished school at Chapin High School in December and then went to boot camp.

    So here’s my advice:

Put on your cap and gown and do exactly what you were told by your superiors. The school board in this case is your duly authorized superiors and their order is not illegal, unethical or immoral. This is a high school graduation not the Garret McCarthy media whore tour. Now move out and draw fire stud before the 1SG puts a size 11 in your ass!

I realize that my advice will probably piss off some readers of this blog but when you take a minute and let the emotion pass, consider my thought process.

The school board president was interviewed by Fox News this afternoon. He was on camera holding his Army uniform that he wore for 30 years. Besides a chest full of ribbons, I immediately noticed the Ranger Tab and Combat Infantry Badge.

His point was made clear when he asked the interviewer, “What happens next year when someone graduates in December and prior to the spring ceremony graduates from clown college?”

I think you can see his “establish a precedent” concern. Can you imagine the freak show that this could open the door to? Religious orders, firemen, SCUBA Instructors, the Frigging Orkin Man….

Allowing this would open the door to allowing any uniform.

I don’t know how many OPORDs PFC McCarthy has seen (probably none at this point) but there is a sub-paragraph called “Uniform and Equipment Common to all”. This is the paragraph where your superiors tell you exactly what you are going to wear down to socks and you will not be expected to question it.

Look son, I am very proud that you decided to join the Corps but this ceremony is not about you or the Marine Corps.

You are entering a whole new world where defying your superiors to be in the spot light can get you killed. Besides that, you don’t want to show up in your first unit being famous; trust me, it won’t be fun.

  • Unicorn 6 this is COB6, WTF? Over.

This is what happens when your President is more interested in being a “citizen of the world” than being a G**Damn American!

Naturally the MSM ignored the story but the Telegraph picked up:

White House officials travelled to France at the start of March to discuss a visit by Mr Obama to Omaha Beach, the site of the American Cemetery, established in 1944 just after D-Day and where 9,387 American personnel are buried. Among them is Theodore Roosevelt Jr the eldest son of the 26th US President.

French officials and senior American military officers walked with White House staff through the cemetery discussing how the two presidents might follow the same route. But even before their trip, the White House had decided that Mr Obama would not travel there this week.

“It wasn’t going to happen,” said an American official in Washington. “We went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.

“During this trip, we wanted to maintain a balance between the British, German and France”.

I always suspected that there was more than just amateurish ignorance behind the useless DVD gift to the UK Prime Minister and groping the frigging Queen but this is more than I can take.

“…giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.”

Mr. President, honoring our dead is not giving special treatment to anyone other than those men who earned it. As far as special treatment for France, there are 9,387 Americans buried there who gave more to France than you could ever imagine in a thousand years.

“…went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.”

    Give me a break!

If this was not politicizing our greatest heroes, WTF was it?

Apparently honoring your betters was not on the agenda either.

Mr. President, if you need a reminder of what is more important that your latest polls in Berlin, feel free to watch this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y1YL9C8Hfw

    What an absolute friggin’ disgrace!

  • 9,387 Arrogant Americans

The photo above shows President and Mrs. Reagan on the hallowed ground that is the American Cemetery at Normandy. The French people gave us 172 acres and we gave them their freedom.
Now our current President goes to France of all places and trashes his own country? Unbelievable.

Charles Krauthammer is not amused either:

Where does one begin? Obama says in America there is a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world.

Maybe that’s because when there was a civil war in Europe’s doorstep in the Balkans and genocide it didn’t lift a finger until America led.

Maybe it’s because there was an invasion in Kuwait it didn’t lift a finger until America led.

Maybe it’s because with America spending over half a trillion a year keeping open the sea lanes and defending the world, Europe is spending pennies on defense.

It’s hard to appreciate an entity’s leading role in the world when it’s been sucking on your tit for 60 years as Europe has with regard to the United States, parasitically….

And then he goes on and calls America arrogant, dismissive, and derisive regarding Europe. “The London Telegraph,” a correspondent in Strasbourg, said this was the most critical remarks he had ever seen a president give on foreign soil, and I think he’s right.

When Kennedy arrived in Paris, he did not attack Eisenhower and the United States. When Obama’s elected president, he is president of all of the United States, including Americans who opposed him, and he owns American history, including a past he may not have wanted to engage in.

I think what he did is, in order to gain the adoration of the crowd, he denigrated his country in a way that I think is disgraceful.
