    From Clear Brook, Virginia;

    On March 3, 2018 at approximately 9:49 p.m. deputies responded to the 200 block of Ruebuck Lane in Clear Brook for the report of shooting at a residence. The owner of the residence reported that one or two subjects were trying to break into his residence through his bedroom window. The suspect broke out the bedroom window and reached inside of the window.

    The home owner reported that he fired one round from his 12-gauge shotgun through the window when he saw the suspect’s hands come through the window. When deputies arrived on scene they found a deceased female outside of the residence by the bedroom window. At this time the deceased female has not been positively identified.

    From Laurel County, Kentucky;

    Detectives and deputies arrived at the scene and learned that apparently a man had unlawfully entered a garage and was in the process of taking items when he was confronted by the property owner.

    Officials say a scuffle ensued, with the suspect attempting to fight the homeowner and suffering a gunshot wound from a 9 mm pistol.

    The suspect was taken to UK Hospital for treatment. He was identified as Raymond Scott House, 43, of London. He was charged with second-degree robbery.

    A female suspect allegedly fled the scene before police arrive but was located later off Taylor School Road and arrested without incident.

    An update from yesterday’s story from North Hollywood, California;

    A parts store employee interrupted a theft of some kind behind the building and was assaulted by Serrano Rodriguez, [Detective Adolfo Godinez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Station] said.

    “It started outside and wound up inside (the parts shop),” Godinez said. The employee, armed with a handgun, shot the suspect.

    The employee “pretty much felt threatened and defended his life,” the detective said. Serrano Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Detectives were reviewing surveillance video and considered it a case of self-defense, Godinez said.

    From Bunker Hill, West Virginia;

    Nico Eugene Mason, 25, of 202 Bluebird Drive in Stephens City, Va…was being held Monday afternoon, in lieu of $100,000 bond, at the Eastern Regional Jail in the Martinsburg area, according to the jail’s website.

    The incident was reported to emergency service officials at 5:39 a.m. Sunday.

    Keller said the owners of a home in the first block of Prospect Avenue were woken Sunday morning by their dog, who heard someone trying to get in the side door.

    A man broke the glass in the side door and gained entry to the house, Keller said.

    The male homeowner yelled at the man to lie down and fired a warning shot into the kitchen floor with his 9 mm handgun, Keller said.

    The suspect was still “aggressive,” coming toward the homeowner so the homeowner shot the suspect in the leg, Keller said.

  • Dumbassery

    In Houston, Texas, yesterday, Daniel Barber was at a party where he found a bullet proof vest, which, of course, he put on. According to news reports, he then told his friend Jason Allen Griffin, 39, to shoot him. Of course, Griffin complied. Well, Barber is now dead, despite Griffin’s attempt to reverse the “shoot me” process.

    Investigators said Griffin left, the party with another person, and was arrested at an area hospital after he allegedly became suicidal.

    Griffin remains hositalized.

    Griffin is also looking at charges of felony possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of body armor and manslaughter.

    It is unknown if the bullet penetrated the vest or passed into Barber through an unprotected area, or if anyone asked anyone else to hold their beer during the ill-fated stunt.

  • Andres Avelino Anduaga bilks US out of $360k with fake ID

    The Associated Press tells the story of 66-year-old Andres Avelino Anduaga who, beginning in 1974 with a fake birth certificate, created a phony persona with a driver license, social security number and a US passport that served him well over the years. To the tune of $360,000 in disability payments and medical costs as well as food stamps.

    Anduaga’s charade began to unravel in April 2015 during a standard review to determine whether he was still eligible for disability benefits. The man who called himself Riojos gave an address in the Southern California city of Chula Vista, according to the criminal complaint. But when investigators visited the home in January 2016, the landlord admitted Riojos never lived there but instead resided in Mexico, court papers show.

    Investigators turned to border crossing records, finding frequent travels indicating Riojos had likely been living in Mexico.

    Further investigation revealed the man claiming to be Riojos had a rap sheet that included 21 different names and six dates of birth, dating back to 1974, the newspaper reported. They included a firearms violation, forgery, cocaine possession and multiple DUIs, according to prosecutors.

    Immigration records showed he’d been deported in 1994 and again in 2000.

    Andres Avelino Anduaga has offered to pay back what he owes, but he’s looking a twelve more years of living off taxpayers’ largess in prison.

    Todd Shane Tomko; retired Marine colonel faces child abuse charges

    Mick sends us a link to the Virginian-Pilot which recounts the charges against retired Marine Corps colonel Todd Shane Tomko;

    Before his retirement in 2016, the decorated former Marine colonel served in the corps for 33 years, went on numerous combat tours and commanded the Wounded Warrior Regiment at Quantico. He was given a key to the city of St. Louis in 2011 during its Marine Week, which he helped organize.

    On Thursday, Tomko appeared before a Virginia Beach judge, wearing an orange jail jumpsuit, handcuffs and leg irons. He was there to face several felony charges of child sex abuse.

    The 54-year-old is accused of assaulting three children during numerous stays at their Virginia Beach home from 2002 to 2009. The incidents include three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of child cruelty.

    Each of the victims, all now adults, offered emotional testimony Thursday during a lengthy preliminary hearing in Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Judge Randall Blow ruled that there was sufficient evidence to send the case to a grand jury.

    Tomko was court martialed before he left the Marine Corps in 2016 for conduct unbecoming, possession of steroids, violating a protective order and driving under the influence. He spent two months in the Naval Consolidated Brig in Chesapeake, Virginia.

  • Chicago-style funerals

    Fox32 reports that funerals in Chicago have become dangerous venues when the deceased is a gang member.

    Just last December, Hillside police were called after shots were fired during a funeral procession headed to Oak Ridge Cemetery.

    “We were able to identify the car, and we started following the car after it left the cemetery so it wouldn’t create any more problems there,” said Hillside Police Chief Joseph Lukaszek.

    Lukaszek rammed his squad car into the vehicle carrying the suspects before they could get on the expressway. Police wrestled several of the occupants to the ground and found three carrying guns.

    Fox News says the gang-land shoot outs have become so common-place that at least one funeral director has hired off-duty policemen to protect funeral goers.

    Maybe Chicago needs more gun control, you know, because they don’t have enough yet.

    Speaking of gun control in Chicago, three teens were shot yesterday because they were standing on a corner;

    At around 7:09 p.m., the victims were standing on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of West Rice Street in the city’s South Austin neighborhood when they heard gunshots and felt pain, officials said.

    A 13-year-old girl was shot in the upper leg, a 14-year-old girl was shot in the upper thigh, and a 13-year-old boy was shot in the left ankle, according to Chicago police.

    I’m sure that we can find a way to blame it all on the NRA.

  • NRA is a terrorist organization says PAC

    NRA is a terrorist organization says PAC

    A political action committee founded by former Clinton staffer, Claude Taylor, has erected a sign in Pensacola, Florida that claims that the National Rifle Association is a terrorist organization, according to Pensacola News Journal;

    Taylor, whose Twitter bio says he resides near Washington, D.C., said he’ll soon have an anti-NRA billboard up in Oklahoma and two in Texas. He said he personally stands behind the the message on the signs.

    “The NRA is helping facilitate the introduction to the civilian marketplace of a broad range of military grade weaponry that is inappropriate, unsafe and unwise to have in civilian hands,” Taylor said. “And legislatively, the NRA owns the GOP.”

    Um, the NRA is a grassroots organization with more than five million members. The NRA represents the 2nd Amendment interests of it’s membership in the halls of the legislature, just like every other grassroots organization. They don’t sell guns, they help teach gun safety to children and to adults.

    But, Taylor isn’t known for his “truthiness”. According to the Washingtonian, he considers himself a “bomb thrower”.

    “When all is said and done,” Taylor says, “I’ll be pretty comfortable if I hit 80 percent.” Of course, that would mean one out of every five of his reports is inaccurate.

    Yeah, well, that’s how we got here.
