Update: International Child Porn Ringleader Beaten to Death in Prison

A man who ran an international child porn ring was beaten to death in prison this week, but one of his victims predicted his fate long before his demise.A judge sentenced Christian Maire, a married father-of-two from upstate New York, to 40 years in federal prison in December for running an online operation where he and eight of his accomplices posed as teenage boys on dating sites trying to convince young girls to perform sex acts via their webcams.
The men even tried to convince their victims to cut themselves while in front of their webcams.
But at least one of Maire’s victims did not seem surprised that Maire would suffer this fate. One female victim, who is now 20-years-old, predicted at Maire’s December 2018 sentencing he would get beaten up in prison.
“He’s gonna get the hell beat out of him,” the now-20-year-old victim said at the time.

Pharmacist fires warning shot at possible robber inside Charlotte drugstore
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pharmacist, thinking he was going to get robbed, grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot Wednesday evening in the northwest Charlotte business.
Police said a man walked into the Star Bright Pharmacy on Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road wearing a mask and gloves when the pharmacist felt threatened and fired a shot.
Police said they arrested 22-year-old Tyler Perry.
Channel 9 spoke to pharmacist Eric Poore, who said customers have to be buzzed into the store. He also said he bought a gun after he was robbed a few years ago.

Armed good Samaritan stops suspects at Loomis grocery store

LOOMIS, Calif. (KCRA) — Two shoplifters at a Loomis grocery store were stopped from stabbing a security guard by an armed good Samaritan before being arrested, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.Brandon Smith, 25, of Santa Cruz, and Elizabeth Almand, 23, of Watsonville, were taken into custody Sunday night at the Raley’s grocery store on Horseshoe Bar Road, the Sheriff’s Office said.
AdvertisementThe incident began around 8:25 p.m. Smith and Almand were spotted shoplifting at the store by a security guard, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“When they left, (the guard) confronted them in the parking lot. There was an altercation where the suspect pulled a knife out,” Lt. Andrew Scott said.
Smith then tried to stab the security guard, Scott said.
“The altercation escalated at that point and the victim was able to disarm the (Smith) and they began wrestling on the ground,” Scott said.
The knife fell to the ground, feet away from them, near where Almand was standing nearby.

How cold is it in Charlotte? I know it’s cold (not down to damned cold yet, but it’s early in the season) here in Utah. I wear gloves and a scarf. I’d hate to have someone taking pot shots at me “just because”. This one will be interesting to do a follow-up on, to see if the detained customer was armed, and had other possible accoutrements of a burglar.
Common sense would dictate that if you don’t want to be taken as a robber, don’t look like a robber when you approach someone in a store, or anywhere else, for that matter. Seriously – this is not a difficult concept in any sort of weather.

Weather archives at weather.gov say it was around 49 or so at the airport—-the high was 54 I think so not cold. Last year it was 35 for the high.
