Police: Shooting at Atlantic Station parking deck was ‘self defense’
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) – Atlanta Police say they believe a 21-year-old man who was shot multiple times in the parking deck of a popular Midtown Atlanta destination was shot in self-defense.
The shooting happened on Dec. 13 a little before 7:30 p.m. at an Atlantic Station parking deck. After an investigation, police say that the shooting victim had traveled to the area “to engage in a criminal transaction.”
The next day, police say they were contacted by a man who said he was the shooter in the incident. After talking with the suspect, police believe the shooting was an act of self-defense.

Update: No criminal charges sought against homeowner who shot and killed escaped inmate in Pickens County
By Jon Randall
Pickens, County (FOX Carolina) – The Pickens County sheriff said one inmate is dead and another is back behind bars after they escaped the Pickens County Jail early Tuesday morning. On December 7, they also announced a third man had been charged with attempting to escape during the ordeal.
Deputies say around 2:40 a.m. two to three inmates physically assaulted two detention officers in what Sheriff Rick Clark called a “pre-meditated plan to escape from the facility.”
Around 2:53 a.m. Sheriff Clark says the first 911 calls came in to the communications center notifying deputies of the incident in progress.
As deputies arrived on scene, they say one of the inmates, identified as Timothy Cleveland Dill, was captured on Concord Church Road. Deputies say he was taken into custody without incident and is back behind bars.
Deputies say at the same time Dill was being arrested, a female homeowner, living in Meece Mill Road, called 911 reporting an unknown subject had kicked in her back door and she had shot him.
Sheriff Clark said the victim, a CWP holder, was home alone at the time of the incident, and fired one shot, striking the escaped convict. Deputies said when they arrived at the home, the suspect was dressed in prison clothing and was immediately identified as the second escapee.
The Pickens County coroner identified the deceased as Bruce Webb McLaughlin Jr., 30. He died from a gunshot wound to the head.
After an investigation from the 13th Judicial Circuit Court Solicitor’s Office, it was determined that no criminal charges would be sought against the woman.

Aimed or accidental, a shot to the head is good shooting. Congratulations, Annie Oakley!
“After an investigation from the 13th Judicial Circuit Court Solicitor’s Office, it was determined that no criminal charges would be sought against the woman [and that she would be awarded the Expert Marksman Badge.]”
Notice how the Sheriff points out her CWP. As if one were necessary to defend yourself in your home.
Either way – way to take out the trash Maam.
“How about a lead based cranial injection to go with your Mint Julep Sir.” Very few Southern Belles buy tasers.
Atlanta story: Media referred to the dindu attempted robber/assaulter DRT as the “victim.”
I’m all for the CWP. Have one myself and carry literally everywhere. What I meant was that the CWP sure wasn’t required to defend here life.
I suppose all my “get a tazer” trolling has caught up with me. Haha.
A requisite-caliber to the noggin is almost invariably more effective than a taser.
Can some what explain what an Atlantic station is? I’m familar with Atlanta’s MARTA but have never heard of Atlantic in any context other than oceanic.
David, You can just Google(maps) it.
I also listed it as my website…not sure if it shows

Atlantic Station is a failed multi purpose mall/neighborhood/business park/projects they put up and let go to waste. It is to close to the city proper to survive and mostly serves as a hunting ground for dazzling urbanites.
Atlantic Station is built on the former site of the long closed and very contaminated Atlantic Steel plant. My grandfather retired from there a long time ago.
It sat dormant for decades before the site was valuable enough to spend the money to clean it up.
It is built on the former Atlantic Steel site that sat vacant for decades because of contamination.
Milo Mindbender’s comments are accurate.
Atlantic Station, Centennial Park, Underground Atlanta,Marta, Grant Park, Stone Mountain all suffering the same boondoggleness.
Where is General Sherman now that Atlanta needs him? Well at least his torch.
US Park Service just paid an undisclosed amount for the MLK Homeplace, that’s across the street from all the other taxpayer funded King Empire.
Sister Mary Grace can find no discrepancies in these clearly written and comprehensible reports. Therefore, until further notice, the No. 15 yellow pencil is back in The Drawer.
Besides, she has stuff of her own to edit.
Anything to avoid the wrath of SMG and her fearsome 12″ ruler…
Nice shooting there in South Carolina!
They never tell us the important info like make of gun, what caliber, number of shots fired for number of hits, and type of projectile.
Regardless, the inmate who was recaptured should be charged with murder.
“Shooting victim?” Nah. How about “bullet recipient?”
Bwahahahahahah.
