Monday morning feel good stories

From Las Vegas, Nevada;

Arriving officers found the naked man sitting in the parking lot with the handgun. As additional patrol units arrived, officers surrounded the parking lot and tried to speak with the man.

During the incident, the man appeared to listen to officers commands, set the gun down, and moved away from it.

“Officers attempted to make conversation and dialogue with the male, and at some point, he started to comply and listen to the officers’ commands, put the firearm down, and then approached the officers,” said LVMPD Sgt. Jeff Clark.

However, as officers gave more verbal commands to the suspect, he turned and ran back towards the handgun that was on the ground.

A K9 dog was deployed to assist with taking the man into custody but was ineffective.

One officer fired a round, striking the suspect.

The man was transported to Sunrise Trauma where he is listed in stable condition.

In San Diego County, California;

Deputies were serving an eviction notice moments before the shooting, according to SDSO Lt. Glisson.

San Diego Police Homicide Unit Lt. Mike Holden described the events that led up to the shooting.

“As they knocked on the door, the occupant who was the target of the eviction told them that if they entered he would arm himself with a handgun,” Holden said.

Once the deputies entered the apartment’s living room, the man ran into his bedroom and returned with what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun. As he pointed the weapon at them, both deputies fired several rounds at the suspect, Holden said.

After he was shot, the man retreated back into his bedroom, Holden said. They followed him there and found the suspect with several gunshot wounds.

The suspect, identified as a 47-year-old man, was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Holden said.

The handgun that he pointed at officers turned out to be a non-functioning replica.

  1. I’m not sure I’d call these “feel-good” stories. A crazy naked dude getting shot and what sounds like a suicide by cop.

    Though this is definitely a case of Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

  2. Another story from the NAKED CITY. They should make a tv show about that. HMMMMM.

  3. While I have a great deal of admiration and respect for the police, it’s at the point where I do not voluntarily offer to interact with them. “Bang, you’re dead” seems to have become their default setting. I’m not worried about being the object of their lethal affections, exactly — I’m more apt to be collateral damage. Dead is still dead, however, no matter how or why it happened.
