  1. The Detroit article says the police is “holding” the homeowner until investigation is complete.

Sounds more like a police/bail bondsman scam.

The homeowner probably is a working man so he will lose money there. Then has to post bond; loses money there.

Release the man and ask him to come back after work if they have any friggin’ questions.

As a former cop, what’s in the article is good enough for me to call it justified.

    1. If the guy doing the B&E in your garage tells you he has a weapon, you should take him at his word. Maybe, in Roseville, you have to wait until you’re taking incoming fire?

      1. Agreed. “I didn’t mean it!” doesn’t get you very far.

…I wonder if that’s why the cops grabbed the homeowner, if the perp didn’t really have a gun.

In that case he should be shot for being a dumbass.

  2. It appears to me that the law-abiding folks of Michigan need to insist that it is the criminals, not the homeowners, who need to be held pending investigation.

Thank God I’m a Texas boy.

    (And I’m lovin’ Dave Hardin’s commentary…)

    1. I’m thinking the only investigation needed is to determine the caliber so the cops could give the homeowner a box of ammo. One round, one stopped perp – good shooting and good fire control.
