One of our Facebook fans dropped off a link to the news that Joyell “JD” Riley, who we wrote about six months ago when she was caught pretending to be a Marine and taking donations for her phony breast cancer treatments, was sentenced yesterday in Akron;
Joyell Riley, 41, received three years probation. She also was ordered to make $3,515 in restitution, pay a $7,500 fine and pay a special assessment of $100.
I guess she’s claiming that she had a TBI when she was younger and the judge is going to have her evaluated. She also has other local charges, theft, forgery and tampering with records, that she’s facing.
Hmm. Probation, but I believe the fact that it’s for 3 years means the Federal conviction was a felony. Would have been nice to see her get at least a little time, though.
Of course, the state charges she’s facing appear to be felonies as well. So perhaps the state will “show her some long-term hospitality”.
And her new “buddies” will probably be named, Butch, LaFondah, Juanita and “Strap on” Sally…
Doesn’t appear that would be any sort of problem for her.
I’m wondering if federal probaton could be affected by future felony convictions, albeit at the state level?
