Castro pushes back

The President went to Cuba last week, which I’ll admit was a historic event. I think he was the first president there since Teddy Roosevelt rode up San Juan Hill in his pre-president days. But Obama went there for quite different reasons than Teddy. Roosevelt was there to free the Cubans from the jackbooted thug Spaniards. Obama went there to cozy up to the latest wearers of jackboots on the island.

From Reuters;

Obama’s visit was aimed at consolidating a detente between the once intractable Cold War enemies and the U.S. president said in a speech to the Cuban people that it was time for both nations to put the past behind them and face the future “as friends and as neighbors and as family, together.”

As is always the case with this administration, the visit has only provoked Fidel Castro;

“We don’t need the empire to give us anything,” he wrote.

Well, they don’t want anything but the reparations they say we owe them. From the Christian Science Monitor last year;

Castro said United States payment of hundreds of millions of dollars in economic reparations for damages caused by the five-decade-old embargo, and indeed a lifting of the embargo Cuba considers a “blockade,” would also have to take place before the two adversaries can renew relations that were severed soon after the Cuban revolution of 1959.

I guess hundreds of millions of dollars is “nothing”. Cuba has been free to trade with every country in the world, except the United States, and they blame their economic dysfunction on one country out of the 160 on the planet. And then they insult us – because they know that nothing can disrupt this administration’s plans to hand over that hundreds of millions of dollars to feather the president’s legacy nest.

Can you imagine this administration placing demands on the communist Cuban government, demands like handing over the convicted cop-killer JoAnne Chesimard before we resume relations?

  1. Give Castro the keys to Gitmo.

Better yet, have Bowe Bergdahl’s father deliver the keynote address at the ceremony where they hand it over, then have Obama, Castro, Bergdahl Sr and Jur pose with one of those giant checks for reparations.

Then the world will come full circle and begin to make sense.

    1. Teddy was there to “kick ass”, obama was there to kiss ass!! I saw a photo of obozo leaning over intently trying to get Raoul’s attention and Raoul is looking off to his left not paying a bit of attention to our idiot prez…I love it….they have his number!!I bet that popped a.h.’s ego bubble bigtime!

  2. Shocked Face!!!!! Castro is not happy? Hmmm, shocking! Like John said, they can trade with everyone else on earth but it is our fault that they live in a 3rd World Crap hole. Why would ANYONE want to open businesses in that country, so they can do all the work and have the Cuba Nationalize the business. Good one Fidel, pull the other one.

  3. Obama refering to let past transgressions slide is hilarious as fuck. The irony of that statement when his entire being is solely about making America and Christians pay based upon some conceived notion they ruined civilization while letting modern day tyranny and real suffering go unanswered.

Is he trolling civilization at this point or can one dipshit be that ignorant?

    1. Well lets see, he’s pissed off Israel.

He’s made nice with Iran, to which it wasn’t 5 minutes after the agreement that Iran broke it.

Now he’s making friends with Cuba.

The EU isn’t as friendly to us, unless we’re giving them something free.

This Fiscal Year, Health and Human Services has a one Trillion (with a T) dollar budget, which DoD’s is roughly half that. (25% of the nation’s budget)

The national debt has doubled since he became president.

There is an approximately 50% increase in welfare recipients since he raised his hand.

93 Million workers have left the workforce.

His first AG spent a good portion of his time “righting the wrongs” against black people. When held in contempt of Congress, his reply was “because I’m black!” While his current AG wants to arrest people for speaking badly about Islam.

He never misses an opportunity to tell Christians they need to mea culpa, while telling Muslims how great they are.

He refuses to call Islamic Extremism that or what it is, Terrorism.

  4. I am completely shocked to discover that a lying sack of shit commie prick bastard from a third world shithole is full of bluster…

The inability of Cuba to advance its people into the 21st century rests solely with the failed communist despots running the nation, they haven’t destroyed the nation as totally as North Korea’s commie douchebag turd but they’ve been running a close second for decades.

All these assholes proclaiming that communism is just a different form of government ignore a simple fact, it’s a different form of government that totally fails the individual. One need only review the satellite data to find the darkest places on earth at night most are the kinds of economies favored by Cuba and North Korea. Non-productive starvation based economies without value to the private citizen who often has few or zero food options and product options due to the inefficiency of communists or dictators.

Fuck Cuba’s commie government, they succeeded in creating hell on earth in what should be a paradise.

    1. “I am completely shocked to discover that a lying sack of shit commie prick bastard from a third world shithole is full of bluster…”

      As is Fidel…

    2. “The inability of Cuba to advance its people into the 21st century rests solely with the failed communist despots running the nation, they haven’t destroyed the nation as totally as North Korea’s commie douchebag turd but they’ve been running a close second for decades.”

Its no wonder why they get along so well with not only North Korea, but also Iran.

  5. Geezo Pete, Fidel’s still pissed off at the USofA? So even that visit that Vlad paid to Havana en Cuba Linda last year wasn’t enough for Fidel’s silly egofeed? Is he gonna ever grow up? Must have hurt when Gorbachev told him that he couldn’t send Cuba any more money because the USSR was bankrupt from its war in Afghanistan.

Fidel sure can hold a grudge, can’t he? Does this mean no Cuban cigars to go with 100-proof Jamaican rum?

  6. What it the problem with the visit? He was renewing trade ties. He even was accompanied by those representing business interests. The embargo was anti-capitalist and anti-free trade. This is the process of removing them. I thought you were all die hard capitalists?

And the reason Castro if firing back is partly because Obama did not cozy up to them. The awkwardness of the meeting was entirely because Obama was there on business and was intentionally maintaining a distance and he openly criticized the regime’s human rights policies. Particularly with respect to political dissent.

The overwhelming majority of American support the presidents attempt at shifting our relationship with Cuba moving forward. The majority of BOTH republican and democrats.

I thought you all supported the idea that our elected officials act in accordance with the sentiment of the voters. Represent our preferences.

Suddenly this board has become all anti-capitalist and anti-representative democracy.

    1. No, just Anti-Lars. I owe 2/17 an apology. I used to think he was too hard on you. I’m beginning to see him as a moderate. I used to think that Jack Shit guy secretly did know you. Now there is no doubt in my mind you truly don’t know him.

    2. I would be willing to bet that if you ever came across a bear, the first thing you would do is poke him with a sharp stick.

      1. And do you know why? You haven’t got the sense god gave a gnat. I have spent the last 8 years completely bewildered at the lunacy coming out of Washington, wondering why and how that many people in power could be that clueless, that hopeless, that useless. And then you showed up here. I still am bewildered for all of the reasons I indicated, but now I am absolutely sure the condition all of you have does exist and I wasn’t imagining things. I know that I’m slow on the uptake even on a good day, but YOU — gooddam boy, all I can say is you better be glad that breathing is a mostly automatic function, or you’d f*ck that up, too.

        1. ‘gooddam boy, all I can say is you better be glad that breathing is a mostly automatic function, or you’d f*ck that up, too’

Fell off chair, laughing my ass off! PN, you hit hit it squarely on the head.

        2. This is nonsense. Obama has been an effective president. despite efforts to undermine him. I do not agree with many of his positions, but he is not incompetent. He also was implementing several pro-oligopoly measures with respect to corporate and finance influence.

Bush, however, was a complete moron. And I literally regard him as a traitor and consider him to be responsible for the loss of thousands of American lives.

So when you say that the problem was the last 8 years. I know you are full of shit. It goes back much further than that.

I consider the Kennedy assassination a coup and every president besides Carter since then to be part of the oligopoly. Reagan, Bushes, Clintons, Nixon, Johnson, Ford all of them.

It is no accident that they changed the super delegate system after Carter to make another Carter impossible without party consent.

The corporate personhood/citizen movement started under Reagan with the explicit end state of establishing civil rights and the ability to influence politics to corporations.

I have not figured out where Obama stands. I do not think he was intended by the establishment. I do, however, think he made political concessions to get the nomination. Those concessions were the bailout, and appointing finance and corporate representatives to administration positions, and maintaining the domestic surveillance posture.

          1. Effective? Well, results in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt (catastrophe barely averted), Yemen, Syria, the Ukraine, a resurgent Russia, and the rise of Da’esh argue otherwise. And he’s made such wonderful progress in getting America back to work! (Look at the Civilian Labor Participation Rate, not that worthless measure U-3.)

But keep reading those talking points memos, and looking at the world through pink- (or is it red-?) tinted glasses.

Just remember: hoping for the best while hiding one’s head in the sand is not generally an effective strategy.

            1. Welfare recipients are up over 40% since he took office.

              The poverty line has increased.

Corporate / stockholder profits have more than doubled.

Between those two, “the Poor are getting Poorer and the Rich are getting Richer.” (Something democrats always blame Republicans for doing.)

We are spending 25% of our annual budget on Health and Human Services while his plan continues to cut the military to non-mission capable status. Though while still deploying the military anywhere and everywhere to “do something!” (Same thing Clinton did in the 90s)

A record 93 million Americans are not part of the workforce. Which includes about 21 million estimated who want to work full-time, but can’t. (The U-3 number is meaningless, except to politicians)

Federal spending is up 11%, which is part of that silly document called the National budget that Obama signed.

Since Obama became President and “promised” to bring the troops home, almost 300 have died in Iraq and over 1700 have died in Afghanistan. (Both places he’s put troops himself past planned leaving dates.)

Oh and while gun buys are “surging” homicides have decreased 13% since he became president.

He also worked an agreement with Iran that they violated within about 5 minutes of making the agreement. He’s pissed off Israel. He’s making friends with Cuba now.

He wants to bring 100,000 refugees into the US, but is doing nothing to get other Middle Eastern countries to take these refugees instead. The #1 rule with refugees, evacuees, any dislocated civilian, is to keep them safe until they can be returned to where they came from. Not leave them here to become more US citizens. Especially since over 50% of immigrant households receive govt aid (welfare, etc).

            2. NO raises in either Social Security or VADC for the second year in a row, and it’s NOT because there’s no money. It’s because the money went elsewhere.

Making the DoD scrounge for stuff all over again, just like the Carter admin. Oh, that’s just brilliant! But there’s money for expensive trips that serve no purpose.

A near-complete destruction of what was once viable and user-friendly health insurance platforms was foisted on the public, with a monstrous and unaffordable increase in deductibles and other costs including premiums, which has led many, many people to ditch health insurance and go with nothing at all.

Oh, yes, he has indeed been extremely effective in putting almost everyone and everything in this country into the toilet. Give him another four years and he’d complete the job, grinning like a shithouse bellhop all the while.

My personal favorite was his decision to shut down all national parks and monuments early in 2013 because that nasty sequestration thingy got in the way. I think that was about the most revolting bit of spoiled brat stomping his little foot I’ve ever seen. Didn’t work, either. That’s when the People of This Country said ‘Enough! Fuck off, asshole!’ and threw those traffic cones into the ditch.
Yes, he was quite effective at making this country into a laughing stock. I hope you’re happy with him, poodle.

Oh, by the way, I meant to ask if you’ve had yourself tested for human papilloma virus. You should do that. As many women as you claimed you’re screwing a while back, you should make sure that you aren’t transferring a cancer-causing organism from one of them to the others. It not only gives women cervical and uterine cancer, it also gives people oral cancer. Guess how they pick it up???

No, don’t tell him. Let him guess.

          2. Commissar, reading your posts is like watching a monkey masturbate while it’s looking at a high school lunch lady, you’re more ate up than a chocolate dildo in a crowded gay bar!

          3. ‘I have not figured out where Obama stands. I do not think he was intended by the establishment.’

I can tell you exactly where he came from, and exactly how you can prove it. He’s money-spawned. All you have to do is check his pockets for George Soros’ navel lint.

          4. You can bet your ass he those representing financial interests with him. He was bought and paid for almost 8 years ago.

And, Carter would be the only president since Kennedy that you think was not part of the problem.

You are either here to have fun poking the bear or you really are stupid. Ignorant I can tolerate but stupid is unacceptable.

Did your parents hate the USA too or are you just a rebel?

    3. Nothing in my statement can or should be construed to be anti capitalist or anti representative in nature.

Cuba’s economy sucks because of Cuba’s leaders…period. True statement Mr. Taylor. The US embargo is a pain in the ass but we don’t prevent the rest of the world from flocking to Cuba and enjoying the depth of production capacity and ingenuity that the communist regime has inspired…except they haven’t inspired any of that. They’ve inspired exactly what the Norks inspire, fear of your neighbors and fear of your government…Castro is, was, and always be a lying sack of shit with respect to the benefits of his revolution. He was free to pursue his vision and once he did he made sure no one else would ever be free under his regime.

Obama’s visit is at best a minimalist effort to create some sort of diplomatic legacy, especially in light of his efforts to thwart the JV Squad in the Middle East. He needs some sort of victory. I’m actually okay with his visit there, but I’m not clear on what benefit to the US results from the visit. Unless we’re looking to exploit another third world shithole economy and give away more American manufacturing to a nation that pays on a weekly basis what most Americans make in an hour…opening relations in a measured methodology dependent on visible improvement in human rights treatment would be an even better concept than what was done.

We made China a favored nation trading partner with few requirements for admission to the largest economy on the planet, seeing as how that’s worked out so well for the contribution to GDP from manufacturing in the US I would hope my duly elected representatives would learn something besides more corporate ass kissing when next opening relations with commie bastards.

    4. Yeah, like Castro, or you, know anything about representative democracy. As Jonn pointed out; we’re the only ones on the planet that didn’t have trade available with Cuba, yet they are still a 3rd world shithole. Other capitalist countries were able to trade with Cuba, yet it’s somehow our fault they’re still a 3rd world shithole?

Go crawl back under your OWS blankie and take a nap. Maybe when you wake up, you will be able to buy a fucking clue.

      1. I am pro-democracy, pro-human rights, and pro-freedom, and generally pro-free trade. ACTUAL free trade not the bullshit kleptocracy crap we do that we claim is free trade.

This is not importing communism this is exporting capitalism.

Renewing ties was inevitable and long overdue. Once the Soviet Union collapse Cuba immediately ceased to be a national security threat.

In fact renewing ties was so long overdue that the only people that seem to care are insane people who still fear communists and some older generation Cuban Americans that have a personal anger with the regime.

This is not a big deal.

Obama did not “cozy” up to the Castro’s.

Fidel unlikely to outlast the next expiration dates on your next grocery run.

Cuba will still not be a three to national security.

This will be economically positive for Florida and the Gulf coast. As well as some connected industries.

Few American jobs are at risk of being exported to Cuba.

There really is no traction on this. It is a non-issue.

        1. You’re about as fucking clueless about diplomatic studies as you are with economics and history.

Since Obama has failed in every foreign policy venture he’s put his hands on, Cuba most certainly has become a threat (of sorts) to U.S. interests.

In case you haven’t noticed, Russia is reestablishing its influence in places like Cuba and much of Central America, much to the credit of Obama and Hillary’s negligence. In my mind, Russia operating anywhere near the U.S. is a threat to our interests. From a historical perspective, Cuba has already proven why it’s a threat.

          1. Yes, Vlad PUtin was there last year, parked in Havana harbor. I think he also paid a visit to Venezuela shortly afterwards.

        2. It is obvious you would not miss an opportunity to bite into O’s crotch and pray for lockjaw before the secret service pried you off.

          1. Actually, Weekend Warrior in Texas, I’d rather keep my distance from Obama.

Not sure how my comments directed at Lars spurred the rabid response from you, but to each his own I suppose.

    5. I have to say that I’m becoming a bit concerned about Lars’s safety. He seems to be so oblivious to the obvious that he shows a rather odd lack of awareness of reality. This should concern everyone. I think he’s walking through life in such blithe disconnection that if he came to a red light at an intersection, and it changed to green just as he got there, he’d step off the curb and keep going, without looking both ways to make sure that it’s safe. I’ve seen people walk right through heavy traffic like that. It’s one thing that causes accidents, and it’s especially bad if the pedestrian gets hit by a bus.

In Lars’s case, I think he’d be unaware that an open manhole is not just a dark spot on the pavement, and he’d fall right through the opening.

We should all show some concern along those lines.

    6. Who is this sniveling communist prick L. Taylor? why is “it” not banned from this site? If I want to hear a bunch of shyt, I will stand outside an outhouse!!

      1. Lars is the resident know-it-all, who often frequents this site with his drive-by tactics.

Best I can tell, he’s able to form his opinions based on his vast experience as a former Army Civil Affairs and Intel officer – coupled with whatever talking points he gets from his professors at UC Berkeley.

Apparently he’s the smartest person in the room (and we know this because he’ll tell you it’s so or its reflected in his writing). It reflects in his posts, even though most of time his comments are lost in translation because he lacks reading comprehension skills.

  7. I get it that Obama is nostalgic for his youth of getting slapped around the schoolyard, but why does he have to drag us along on his therapy sessions?

  8. Yet another diplomatic misstep and Clusterfuck from B. Hussein 0bama & Company. I wonder how many millions of U.S. Tax dollars were wasted on this boondoggle, maybe as many as the 0bamas blow on one of their vacations? I’m sure he wanted to walk out of it with everyone fawning over him and kissing his ass like the MSM does, but it was just another B-HO fuckup.

  9. By now the embargo is a bit ridiculous and primarily a concession to the viejo Cubano crowd in Miami who dream of retaking Cuba the way the old Kuomintang folks in Taiwan used to dream about retaking China. If I could view this trip as anything other than a token visit prior to declaring we were giving Guantanomo back, maybe I would see it differently.

  10. I wonder if B. Hussein 0bama bowed to Castro like he has everyone else he shouldn’t have?

    1. Well, Raul did hold his hand up in sort of a Gay Wave kinda thing.

I’d be curious if something was on Cuban TV or Radio saying, “See? The power of Castro made Obama Gay!”

      1. I’m SURE that Cuban Propagandists will milk that for all it’s worth, something like “LOOK at how easily Castro manipulates the limp-wristed POTUS who came to see him”

  11. Never thought about this until now. Maybe, just maybe commies all have big schlongs. Does anyone think maybe Lars is actually RuPaul, and wants Castro to make him/her smile? Lars is obviously a friend to all commies.
