In Phoenix, Arizona, a homeowner fired a gunshot at an intruder which convinced the thief to flee.
In Macon, Georgia, Paul Washington Jr. and Darius Washington attempted to rob Douglas Wayne Jackson Jr., who had just made fun with an escort lady. The Washingtons were surprised that Jackson had his own gun and he shot and killed Darius DRT (dead right there), now Paul, Junior is facing murder charges.
In Louisville, Kentucky 41-year-old Sami Abulaila flashed a gun at a liquor store clerk who then pulled out his own gun and showed Sami some of his bullets. Sami was DOT (dead over there) at the hospital.
In Manchester, New Hampshire, Zabir Sheikh, the 22-year-old manager of a local convenience store tackled an armed robber when he realized the gun the thief was using was a toy. Police hauled off the offender. Zabir said he’s tired of the drug addicts hanging around outside his store.
Bobo sends us a link to a story from Warren, Michigan where a GM employee was attacked by an assailant and stabbed several times. A nearby valet witnessed the attack and intervened with his legally carried firearm and shot the assailant. The valet claims that he was fired from his job for his actions but GM says he wasn’t fired – so they’ll need to work that out, I suppose.
AW1Ed sends us a link from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where a police officer tried to break up up a fight between two teens. A crowd of 40 or so students circled the officer and started threatening him. An observant citizen grabbed his own gun and joined the officer holding back the mob until more officers arrived to help. He didn’t point the weapon at anyone, just his presence was enough.

It looks like the heroin problems that have been plaguing the Berkshires in Massachusetts have moved to Manchester and Concord, NH. It will be interesting to see what the results in a must issue vice a shall issue state look like.
Hopefully more dead junkies. Sorry, that was unkind, it is a “disease”.
“Disease”? Give me a break.
Addiction is a voluntary choice – and a stupid one at that.
Won’t get any argument from me. I have to look at a huge billboard on I-95 every morning that says addiction is a disease. My blood pressure goes up everytime I see it.
Want to know how much of a disease it is? Look at China’s solution to their drug problem – and how many other people have acquired that ‘drug disease’ since then over there.
New US law: First time possession charge draws probation and mandatory treatment. Second offense mandatory one year chain-gang sentence. Third offense is choice of life-time banishment from the country or death. Possession of more than 5 doses of whatever drug is considered dealing, mandatory death sentence to be carried out within 30 days of trial. Cross border trafficking, transporting, etc – mandatory death sentence. Want to bet how much of a drug problem we would have in a few years?
Yup! Anyone who puts drugs before their own child deserves to OD..
I’ve seen the look on the face of a child that understands what dead means. What brings me tears is when they say “maybe I didn’t love my mom/dad enough or it’s because I was bad” MY response was always “sweetheart” it’s not your fault and hold them until family arrives. In tomorrows open thread I want share how I found my sister died and not of a overdose.
Now for the obligatory “good guy batting line”. I’m excluding the last case, which is a bit different from most “good news stories” we see.
In the other incidents, looks like we have 6 total perps. Of those, 2 are DRT/DOT, 1 is wounded and in custody, and 2 of the remaining 3 perps are in custody. In baseball terms that’s 5 for 6 with 2 HR and one additional extra-base hit. Not bad at all.
Too bad about the lady getting stabbed, though – at last report, she was in critical condition. Pity the valet didn’t drill her assailant earlier.
Hondo, please keep on doing these – they make my morning, especially when the coffee pot is empty and I have to wait for a brew! (Batting .833 today, damn, I wish our Houston Astros could do that!)
Seems like young Darius shouldn’t have dared do this.
And that’s an interesting break from the norm in Philly: citizen provided riot control. Maybe they should add that as a feature to Eagles games.
Mr. Jackson had fun with his piece and his gun.
