Wednesday morning feel good stories

Our first stop this morning is the Hollywood Seminole Indian Reservation in Florida where a woman called the tribal police right before her housemate perforated the fellow she found peeking at her from her yard. According to the article the police took the peeper to the hospital to be treated for his six wounds.

A convenience store clerk in Austin, Texas ran after an armed thief and shot the thief’s getaway driver. The pair escaped, but the driver told a story to police about how he’d been walking down the street nearby and was struck by a single round as he tried to run from the gunfire, The other fellow was found hiding under a tree house nearby. The convenience store clerk isn’t facing any charges, the thieves, however, are jailed until they come up with their $100,000 bail for each of them.

A pawn shop customer in Calumet City, Illinois struggled for four minutes with an armed thief. The criminal tried to herd the employees and the customer into a back room when the 50-year-old veteran saw an opportunity to strike. As he wrestled on the floor, the employees were able to make their escape. Finally the customer got the gun from the thug and shot him. The wounded thief was taken to the hospital, his buddy is still in the wind.

    1. Correct. Today’s quick quiz:

Which of the Principles of the Law of Self-Defense did the shooter violate?

      a. Innocence
      b. Imminence
      c. Avoidance
      d. Proportional
      3. Reasonableness

If you don’t know, stop, do not pass go, and get the book. I am not a lawyer, but Mr. Andrew Branca is: http://lawofselfdefense.com/

(And I mean a real lawyer, one who checks fuel levels during pre-flight inspection….)

    2. Wrong. This is Texas. You don’t get to “leave the scene” with someone else’s personal property.

Texas Penal Code 9.42 – Deadly Force To Protect Property.

      It’s a soothing read – enjoy. 🙂

          1. Yep. When discussing this point in regards to a Houston man who was not indicted after shooting a burglar fleeing from the neighbor’s home, my cohort asked:

“Seriously though, is a TV set worth someone’s life?”

            My reply:
“I don’t know, we can’t ask the dead guy if it was worth it.”

  1. In the Seminole Indian case – I’m not at all surprised that the shooter was locked up. Criminal Trespass isn’t one of those offenses that deadly physical force is lawfully used…..a severe ass-kicking, yes.

      1. “John, who is not a tribal member, was questioned Monday by Seminole Police at the department’s headquarters at 3101 N. State Rd. 7. John was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Bitner said.” (Israel John is the shooter)

“Odell was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. He had six wounds and was in critical condition but was stable after surgery, the spokesman said.” (Odell is the scumbag peeper)

        1. My hunting buddy’s sister had a peeper for a year. Police said best if you move. Newer home hubby was a demist at local Indian school. She bought a star 22 8 shooter. Peeper climbed into window late one night. 8 22lr HP dead center DRT. Stopped the peeper over window sill, screwdriver in his hand. Ark City,KS many years ago

    1. A severe ass kicking? What if the shooter was an 80 year old disabled woman? You want her to get into an ass kicking contest with a young whacking Seminole warrior?

I’ll take the gun – thanks though.

    1. “Doing a B&E in Texas gets you shot.”
As does ADW… or damn near anything else. As the fella above said, God Bless Texas.

Bet that 4 minute tussle was probably closer to 30 seconds. That kind of shit wears you out in a big hurry.
