Our first stop this morning is the Hollywood Seminole Indian Reservation in Florida where a woman called the tribal police right before her housemate perforated the fellow she found peeking at her from her yard. According to the article the police took the peeper to the hospital to be treated for his six wounds.
A convenience store clerk in Austin, Texas ran after an armed thief and shot the thief’s getaway driver. The pair escaped, but the driver told a story to police about how he’d been walking down the street nearby and was struck by a single round as he tried to run from the gunfire, The other fellow was found hiding under a tree house nearby. The convenience store clerk isn’t facing any charges, the thieves, however, are jailed until they come up with their $100,000 bail for each of them.
A pawn shop customer in Calumet City, Illinois struggled for four minutes with an armed thief. The criminal tried to herd the employees and the customer into a back room when the 50-year-old veteran saw an opportunity to strike. As he wrestled on the floor, the employees were able to make their escape. Finally the customer got the gun from the thug and shot him. The wounded thief was taken to the hospital, his buddy is still in the wind.
Running after an armed thief who is “leaving the scene” is an iffy situation. Most Defense laws end when the perpetrator is going in the opposite direction.

Yep. When discussing this point in regards to a Houston man who was not indicted after shooting a burglar fleeing from the neighbor’s home, my cohort asked:
“Seriously though, is a TV set worth someone’s life?”

In the Seminole Indian case – I’m not at all surprised that the shooter was locked up. Criminal Trespass isn’t one of those offenses that deadly physical force is lawfully used…..a severe ass-kicking, yes.
The shooter was not locked up.
The peeper was the fellow who was locked up.
