Fox News reports that some Arabs are claiming that they spotted Cuban soldiers in Syria to assist the Assad government and the Russians fighting against the rebels in the civil war there;
An Arab military officer at the Damascus airport reportedly witnessed two Russian planes arrive there with Cuban military personnel on board. When the officer questioned the Cubans, they told him they were there to assist Assad because they are experts at operating Russian tanks, according to Jaime Suchlicki, the institute’s executive director.
“It doesn’t surprise me,” Suchlicki told FoxNews.com, noting Russia’s long history of supplying military equipment to Cuba as well as Cuba’s assistance in Soviet-led operations in Africa the 1970’s.
The Cubans haven’t fought in a war since their incursions in Africa and their limited engagements in South and Central America in the mid-80s so I don’t why the Russians would want them except for extra bodies. Of course, they did evict the Spanish with our help in 1898, so if they have veterans of that war, they’d come in handy.
Cuba’s military is ranked the world’s 110th most powerful by the site globalfirepower.com. While small, the Cuban military is “very well-trained,” according to Suchlicki, who said their presence in Syria is a “departure from what the U.S. expected.”
So, the Cubans will be designated as the Russian’s 71st Provincial Self-Propelled Sand Bag Brigade.

I’m guessing the Cubans are looking to gain some combat experience. That, and teaming up with the Russians again is a big “screw you” to our fearless leaders.
Yep, the Russians have managed to get their allies to put more troops on the ground in two weeks than the Pants-Wetter on Pennsylvania Avenue did in two years.
I like the way this is shaping up, what with the US dispatching John (Jungle Stroll w/ Cameraman) Kerry soon to address the eruption of murders of Israelis by Palestinians and Israel’s call up of reserves. I’m sure that will go well. And, of course, Russia is having a grand old time in Syria, now with Fidel’s mine-clearing brigade there. Meanwhile, media here are painting this as some sort of game of chicken between Vlad and the Scrotum Shaver. I’d laugh but the latter will get some Americans killed and that is nothing to laugh about. Vlad has Syria. The Palestinians see the weakness and are ratcheting up the violence. Iran and the nuke deal have fallen from the news cycle so I guess that issue is all fixed. Iraq and Afghanistan are not so much in the news any longer either, except when ISIS or the Taliban take a city. It’s a total freakin’ mess. And we have just sent ninety (90) troops to Nigeria for “security” of some sort. I may not wait for the election to sign off from the world.
This could have all been prevented in Iraq by targeting northbound Isis convoys. It would have been simple easy targets with everybody aboard trucks and no where to hide.
But Nooo….. Leadership disconnected due to great golfing weather.
“Meanwhile, media here are painting this as some sort of game of chicken between Vlad and the Scrotum Shaver.”
It is, but the kind of game where Vlad plays the part of Col. Sanders, and Obama plays the chicken.
But…But…..aren’t the Cubans are “new” friends?
Man … Obama just keeps giving … and giving … and giving …
Welcome back to the Cold War, boys and girls!
I’m surprised they were on a Russian transport. The way Obumbles is deep throating the Castro boys, I figured they would have arrived on C-17s.
I saw this too one report stated Venezuela troops and not Cuba… but in this day and age of giving the store away nothing surprises me anymore
BREAKING NEWS – RELATED STORY:
Cuban soldiers comfirmed to be on the ground in Syria. Reports of Cuban regulars have been verified by sightings of Cuban soldiers driving around Syria in modified 1956 and 1957 Belairs. Film at 11:00.
bahahahaha! ! ! !
Cuba? Has military? Who knew?
What are the Cubans there to do other than maybe run the Chow Halls, fill sandbags and beat local peasants?
With trade between the US and Cuba normalized by obama, I suspect Cuba will be able to enter the Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Syria as Russian surrogates paid for by obama.
Obama told Putin he would have more flexibility after the 2014 election……..He’s keeping his word with the Russians…….not so much for the US.
Obama doesn’t have a clue and the dipsticks at the Pentagon and Congress don’t have the balls to tell the emperor that he has no close on!
Let’s see if I got this right…
1. U.S. Is supporting the rebels against al-Assad and ISIS, we just gave Iran an open check book, we’re “normalizing” relations with Cuba, we’ve blown off Israel, and we’ve got a coalition of nations missing action…
2. Russia’s on the move, our Cuban “friends” are joining in, Iran is chomping at the bit…
And Obama looks like Alfred E. Neumann “what, me worry?”
WTF, Over!
A
Clothes on… Duh
I would rather see Cuban kids bleeding in the sand than American kids…but thats just me.
Yay proxy wars! Yay possibility for another fight with an actual order of battle!
