Army wants more female recruiters

The Stars & Stripes reports that the Army is looking for more female recruiters in anticipation of the need to fill more combat arms jobs with women.

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Snow, in an Oct. 4 memo to the top Army personnel officer, has requested an annual boost in the percentage of women recruiters by 1% per year until 2018 “to improve the recruitment of females for Army service.”

Women, Snow said, are 23% better at recruiting women than men. “Increasing the number of females on recruiting duty will improve the effectiveness of recruiting women,” he wrote.

Well, you know, if all of that is true, all recruiters should be women. And they shouldn’t have a shortage of female recruiters because that’s not one of the jobs that were restricted to women. If there were more women who wanted to be recruiters, they certainly would have volunteered by now for the job. But, you know what the Army wants, the Army gets. So they can start drafting women into jobs they wouldn’t normally want just to fill their quotas. Just like when the social justice warriors don’t get the number of female volunteers into the infantry, they can start drafting them, or otherwise force the square pegs into the round holes. And then when those square pegs won’t fit, the social justice warriors can adjust the holes for them to make their numbers.

    1. OK, I get it…they’re going to have guys lining up to get in because it’s SO much easier to believe a woman lying to you and some male recruiter.
“Oh honey, (purses lips and winks) just sign here and you’re going to be a Great American Hero. You won’t be able to handle all the stank you’re going to have on your hang down…Believe me honey, If I wasn’t an NCO and there were rules, I’d leap across this desk and smother you…”

/100% recruiting goals every month. Book It.

      1. While it wasn’t quite that blatant I saw something simular. When I was a DI I would work a bit with the local Recruiters and Poolees.
There was a Female Gunny that was a fucking bombshell. She had those 18 Year Olds eating out of her hand. Think she averaged about 5 ships a month.
One of the kids she put in ended up getting sent to casual to await a med board ( He fucked up his shoulder on the O course).
We talked about her and he said just her figure and perfume alone put him in a trance, just like all the other guys she signed up. She never had to say anything out of line, they were just like lemmings running into her office.

  1. So, if I understand this correctly, right now, if the Army is to be reach Snow’s recruitment goal of recruiting more female recruits, it needs to recruit female recruiters to recruit recruiters so that there will be more female recruiters to recruit female recruits. That about right?

  2. so now that females are on a even par with ranger school and all that shouldn’t APFT standards be the same ???? and if not Why ????

    1. Dammit Skippy, why do you always have to inject common sense and logic into a perfectly jacked up situation?

      1. I’ve seen a few ladies that were on the men’s APFT Scale and then some that couldn’t even pass profile PT…. And I don’t even want to go were a lot of profile rangers I’ve seen stack up in this aka males that broke a finger nail Lol….

  3. My recruiting station had two female Recruiters and six males; the company had at least one female in each station, even those that only had three Recruiters. No female is going to be very effective at recruiting females for combat jobs unless they’ve done the job themselves. Well, they can always lie, I suppose.

As a Drill Sergeant Candidate, I’ve been thinking about the inevitable–women in the Infantry. Infantry Drill Sergeants are all 11-series for a reason, so I predict a shake and bake Infantry course similar to what they put Field Artillery guys through for an Iraq deployment years ago. Two to three weeks and BAM, you’re Infantry. I welcome the challenge (and would probably volunteer to be an MOS conversion course DS if given the opportunity). It will be an uphill battle for them anyway, but I don’t see a female DS commanding respect from her peers and even some of the trainees unless she’s sporting that blue disc on the campaign hat. I could be wrong…

    1. Huh, sounds like when I went through PLDC and the class roster had at least one roster number per squad reserved for a female.

  4. Somehow. .. I can see this not working. With more and more people realizing that under O’bozo’s “leadership”, the military isn’t out to protect ‘Merica, it’s become a social justice experiment instead, enlistment numbers will go down (if they aren’t already).

  5. Every person I ever served with that had been a recruiter never dropped a 4187 for the job, they were all volentold by DA they were becoming recruiters. So if DA wants more female recruiters, it’s going to happen just one way, someone pounding on a keyboard up at DA trying to fill that quota.
Don’t get me wrong, some women can do great on recruiting duty. A friend of mine, she and her husband got sent off to recruiting duty when they were both E-6’s. She finished her time as a recruiter with a promotion to E-7 and I believe got assignment of choice afterwards. Oh, and her husband finished recruiting duty early….with a demotion to E-4. And a divorce.

    1. Damn skippy. By far the worst assignment in the military. Many nights we’d be staying at the office until 10 or 11 at night because our asshole boss wanted more contracts so he could get promoted. There were 3 of us recruiters there talking about how we wish we were back in Iraq or Afghanistan. Yeah it was more dangerous, but our careers depended on us doing our jobs, not a 17 year old douche bag that can say no to you anytime he wants.

  6. The next step in changing the Army to fit societies standards, not combat standards.

    Glad I am out.

    1. Maybe the Army should actually ask female Soldiers what they think first.

Loosely translated, do you want to do this?

And then make a decision based on input from Soldiers, not civilians.

      1. We won’t ask anyone in the Army. Those people don’t know anything. Anybody with a brain can get a better job than that!

        /sarc

  7. Only a matter of time before bonuses are awarded to “attract” females to these jobs.

“Sorry pal, you got the wrong sex organs to qualify for this bonus.”

    Won’t that be fun. EQUALITY!!!

  8. So….am I to understand that females were not tasked to be recruiters in similar fashion to men? I had several folks who were impressed into recruiting duty.

    1. I’m wondering just how soon the current fountains of cess in charge will start screeching for an LGBT quota among military recruiters?

  9. Having served a sentence on recruiting duty, I can confirm that putting more women on it wouldn’t work. The vast majority of recruiters are non-volunteers, and are therefore used and abused by their commands to perform. Their poor treatment is what drives mission. If the recruiting command receives more females, that means more recruiters that cannot be forced to “area canvas” Wal Mart at 1 in the morning or cannot be made to drive 3 hours one way to get an asschewing by the SgtMaj while sleep deprived. There would be a lot more complaints and IG inspections, and the recruiting mafias don’t want that.

    1. Word.

      Recruiting duty sucks.

And I would have a hard time morally and ethically asking ANYONE to join the Army these days.

The Army, with it current senior leadership,is slowly oozing down the drain.
Give it a few years and the numbers will reflect this statement.

  10. As a former detailed (DA selected) I can tell you how delighted (sarcasm) I was when I received the letter telling me I was “selected” because I was a wonderful NCO and I should be honored to be part of USAREC.

I was really excited when I read the part that stated: “There is no voluntary declination of this assignment.” That really sealed the deal — who wouldn’t want to be part of an elite unit like that (sarcasm)!

I’m not sure what percentage of volunteers are out there on recruiting duty, I do know that when I was out there (’82 – ’85) most were volun-told. So if they need more females they’ll just crank out the orders, send them to the recruiting course, and issue them a gorilla bag.

    1. When I went through Marine Corps recruiters school (2011), most in my class, including yours truly, were “voluntold” as well. At my station, the Army for the most part had set hours thanks to the Houston suicides. Of course, that was only where I was and was probably not a reflection of what went on elsewhere. For the Marine Corps, it’s pretty much expected to be a 3 year suckfest.
