+1 to you. If one’s workplace is open on Veteran’s Day, a good idea would be to have the non-vets on staff work to cover the veteran’s workload for the day whilst the veteran is enjoying a paid day off. The management shouldn’t complain, as the work gets done and no-one is harmed.

Nice idea, but would not work for me. Out of twenty two in my work group only three are not vets. My employer springs for lunch on Veterans Day though

Working here too, but I think the late Mike Royko had the best idea for Veteran’s Day.
