Wishful thinking; tanks to Ferguson

Tanks in Missouri

In case you didn’t hear, there have been riots and looting in Ferguson, Missouri this weekend after 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot was shot by police. According to the local news;

Witnesses say that he was unarmed and his hands were in the air when a Ferguson police officer shot and killed him Saturday.

Authorities told a different story. The police officer tried to get out of his vehicle just before the shooting, but Brown pushed him back into the car, said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.

Brown “physically assaulted” the officer, Belmar said, and the teen tried to get the officer’s weapon. Brown was shot about 35 feet from the vehicle, the chief said, declining to provide more details.

Whatever the circumstances, it probably doesn’t justify the looting and rioting. But, that’s what’s happening. Anyway, according to Twitchy, rumors started flying last night about tanks being sent to Ferguson on Twitter feeding the frenzy. I know the folks who weren’t in Ferguson were hoping for a bloodbath in the streets for their own political reasons, but, no those tanks aren’t going to the St Louis suburb. Our troops have more pressing issues with which to deal.

I don’t know what happened with Mr. Brown, but whatever happened, it doesn’t justify the violence. It also doesn’t justifying calling for a race war, especially by people who are geographically removed from the event. Again from Twitchy;

Race wars

I know I don’t have to say anything, but, just in case, watch yourself in the comments.

  1. My goodness, all those naughty things said in the ‘twitchy’ comments!

That certainly smacks of a specific pejorative to me.

No, the rioting and looting in Ferguson aren’t justified, but people took advantage of a bad event to do just that. It isn’t unusual. Nor is it justified, and neither are the nasty remarks.

  2. Nothing says sincere mourning for the loss of a respected member of the community like stealing a television set and a case of booze.

  3. StL always get a bad rap…well they kinda deserve it. Being stationed at Scott AFB for nearly 5 years. I had an ex girlfriend who lived out in St. Charles, Ferguson is on the way there. That was one of those places you never wanted to look at because it ruined the scenery on 70.

This does not surprise me at all, I wonder if Scott AFB has an advisory up not to even travel to North county area or Florissant. One thing we use to have was dealing with ignorant people out in St Louis.

    1. Actually St. Louis had fairly decent race relations back in the day. They never had race riots in the ’60s and mixed neighborhoods were fairly common. Not to say it was Paradise – but it was a damn sight better than a lot of places.

  4. Hey, he could have been Obama’s son.

I’m guessing that there will be no beer summit with the officer this time around but Rev Al ‘Mulch’ Sharpton will be there today. And, hey, watch for very low-priced merchandise being sold out of St. Louie. Could be some good deals.

  5. Riot and burn down your neighborhood, then wonder why you can’t attract any decent businesses.

And that crosses ALL racial and ethnic lines. No, there was no reason to riot, regardless of how (un)justified the shooting of this person was or wasn’t. But wishing to eradicate an entire town because a few dipshits can’t act like adults?

Both sides need to police their own a little better.

  6. Yeah ….

This ALL makes perfect sence to me.

Thank you Mr. Post Racial President for setting the stage!

    UPDATE in NYC:

Our city saw 20 YEARS of steady improvements … all gains have been lost!

I have nothing else on this issue!

  7. The maroons are just following Rahmbo/Sharpton/J.Jackson mantra…”never let a crisis go to waste”. Any excuse for the savages to plunder & pillage…Rodney King, Katrina, NYC blackout July 1977,…etc etc.

    1. What’s a “maroon” if not a color? Is that some kind of ghetto monkey speak?
You don’t mean “moron” do you?

      1. “Maroon” is Bugs Bunny speak for “moron”. Sheesh. Today’s ignorant youth. Didn’t you ever watch Loonie Tunes?

  8. No matter how this turns out, the officer will be guilty until proven innocent. It doesn’t matter that the 18 year old had a rap sheet as long as my arm, he was “a good boy” and that’s all that will be brought up in court.

As for the rioting, it won’t stop. They burned down the QuickTime mart where this happened, because it was somehow responsible? And don’t forget that all of the gunfire the police are taking…

I’m not trying to sound racist, but these are simply animals acting how animals act. Sure, there may be some people who are legitimately upset over the shooting, but the majority of these people are just looking for a reason to act like fools.

    1. I don’t care if he had a rap sheet longer than a donut trail leading to Rosie O Donnells dressing room; if he was unarmed and 30 feet from the car, then the cop wasn’t in any danger and he shouldn’t have shot him. Those are the rules I have to follow when I carry; so, too, should the police.

      1. True if the officer was in or near the police vehicle at the time of the shooting, Old Trooper. Not necessarily true if there was a struggle subsequent to the alleged push and both officer and Brown had moved a substantial distance away from the police vehicle before shots were fired.

I wasn’t there, so I don’t know which is closer to reality.

      2. Rules? They don’t need stinkin’ rules… or Constitution, for that matter, if your believe that public-union thug who got himself on video in NJ.

    2. Flagwaver – not everything you read on the internet is true. you know that right?

The St. Louis Prosecutor’s office has stated that Brown did not have any prior arrests; not even a misdemeanor.

    1. I heard there was a pretty clear line of demarcation during the Rodney King riots, since the Korean shop owners made it clear that there were no rules of engagement inside their parking lots. I never did find out just how many they culled from the shitbag herd.

  9. ABC News story begins thusly, “Protests broke out overnight on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri….” Protests? Jeez. Come on, ABC. It’s okay. You can say it. Go ahead.

  10. Just to refresh how racist these acts are:

Assume an asian kid is shot down by police. The asian community is SO mad at police that they advocate going into a black neighborhood and torching it.

Would that make any sense? Of course not. Unless you are racists trying to hijack a tragedy to attack the race you hate.

Why do they get away with this? With everyone playing the race card over every petty disagreement, why aren’t the actual racists ever called out?

    1. Because American society has determined that certain skin color trumps everything. They have no stomach to hold people accountable for their actions because they are so fucking scared of being called racist.

Look at Obama’s entire term in office. Zero accountability due to skin color and when anyone dare attempt to hold him responsible for anything they are immediately labeled as racist. This is just more of the same.

      1. It’s not about holding anyone accountable. It really is all about perpetuating racism. The dems have always been racists who believed in the inferiority of people with dark skin. (I know – it made no sense then and still doesn’t.) Or anyone who wasn’t them.

So, they fought anything which rewarded everyone based upon their merits as they developed a welfare state which is merely a new form of slavery. Disgusting. A couple of generations later they created an environment which supported their original prejudices. As a bonus, they got a bunch of dysfunctional folks of all races.

  11. Rise up and crush the man, commit crimes to prevent crimes, offer advice on committing crimes against a group of people based on race only….in a city that has a property crime rate 80% higher than the national average and has had this higher property crime rate for at least a dozen years.

The violent crime rate sits just above the national average.

It’s not much of a decent city to start with in addition to the crime only 69% of the students graduate high school. Lack of education, 14% unemployed, and an abundance of robbery, those things equal shithole pretty quickly.

I think I would take exception to the mayor’s words and would offer that the riots are exactly the kind of city you have Mr. Mayor. A high crime rate city, with little hope or change regardless of the current or former occupants of the White House that is just waiting to explode in a violent frustration for everyone living there. Mix that with morons who don’t live there looking to add to its’ woes by advising violence.

There is no outcome under those circumstances that addresses the young man’s death with an assurance that others in the city aren’t in line to suffer the same tragic end. Instead of worrying about the illegals being educated, maybe the president could start with correcting the mess in Ferguson for American Citizens and let Honduras fare for itself.

  12. The officer will get a fair hearing and, if it comes to it, a fair trial. It’s just that neither will occur in his lifetime. He is guilty b/c he has to be guilty.

  13. Gosh, There’s nothing that says you are a respectable individual hoping to civilly advocate for the repair of a grievance than rioting and burning down the local business district.

It wasn’t just the Quik-Time, but a liquor store was stripped, a frikkin’ TIRE company lost the bulk of it’s merchandise. A gas station was hit with folks filling up and leaving without paying. Rioters were demanding free meals from the McDonalds, etc.

In a just world, the business owners would file for damages with the insurance company, then leave and never come back. The city would shut off water, electricity, etc, to the neighborhood until everyone moved out then wall it up and leave it.

There is NO excuse for this sort of thing.

    1. In an even juster world, the shop owner would have had a firearm and sufficient ammunition and there would have been a stack of bodies and a full, undamaged store.

  14. i spent a good part of last night watching the looting live on the local fox chan. i felt kinda sorry for the black female news caster who had to sit there and ask the on scene reporter to describe what he was seeing. it actually made me sick to my stomache to see the grins of delight on the faces of those looters. the future sure looks bright.

    1. The sons of Obama are just outraged he didn’t take them on vacation with the rest of the family is all.

      LEGIT GRIEVANCE!

  15. I live not too terribly far from Ferguson in STL. I am looking forward to that dbag Sharpton coming in & working the jackholes into a lather.

  16. “Various reports say that several looted items were already sold online….(Source: Channel 4 KMOV.com) What did I tell you? There are some good buys to be had online today! I mean, what’s someone gonna do with cartons of hair weave product or 17 inch tires when they don’t own a car?

The looters really made their point well. One was heard to say, “Dr. Martin Luther who?”

  17. The one common factor in broken societies in inner cities is that there are entire generations of absentee fathers.
Entire nieghborhoods exist with the only male in the household being the guy who is bumping uglies with with a female is residence, who has several other kids from other men. None of them take a vested interest in the raising, edcucation and moral upbringing. Bill Cosby ( CPO USN Hon,,, Bonafide) has went on everal rants anout this, but he has been drowned out by the clamoring of Sharpton. It’s much more palatable to play victim that hold yourself responsible,

  18. Whats scary is that if someone hacked the EBT system and took it down, in two weeks every city in America would be in flames.

    1. It wasn’t a hack, but a reboot… and it took 2 days for food riots in an inner city neighborhood.

Then again, elsewhere in the country in another inner city neighborhood, the same reboot gave people ten times the money they normally get. They spent everything like it was actually theirs, stripping shelves at Walmarts bare.

    2. Whats scary is that if someone hacked the EBT system and took it down, in two weeks every city in America would be in flames.

BINGO I hope all the agencies involved with entitlements back up their hard drives better than the IRS does. If they do, this ponzi scheme economy can be kept afloat indefinitely.

  19. Burning down stores in your neighborhood doesn’t make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me…
Either way, it is yet another reason to carry your own protection everywhere in St. Louis. The cops will be busy there for quite some time so the rest of the place will be open season…
Remember, anything other than a .45 is just a waste of ammo !!!

    1. “Burning down stores in your neighborhood doesn’t make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me…”

Niether does dropping out of School, having kids out of wedlock, not working and depending on the government to support you.
The people you see carrying on like crazed animals can’t see 3 days into their own future or plan for it. They care about their next meal, their next high, where they are to sleep and their next piece of ass.

  20. Why waste a perfectly good EBT card when you can loot and scoot for free. Bump your head on the way out of the Liquor store no problem free health care.

  21. How many Generations have been raised with the “GIMME, GIMME, GIMME!!” mentality since LBJ re-enslaved people with his “Great society” programs? All it takes anymore is a few agitators, and the rest stampede like cattle! Riot in the White neighborhoods? What about the hardworking 2nd Amendment followers there? When a few or more of the precious little goblins get shot while rampaging, will it be “Whitey’s Fault” that they were executed for “Rioting While Black” just like many claim to be pulled over for “Driving While Black” when they’re caught say, driving 20 or more MPH over the speed limit while swerving, etc.?

DEATH TO POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, it’s a social and spiritual CANCER!!

  22. I saw this story on Friday night and thought “uh oh. This won’t end well.”

But notice that while we know the name of the victim, we don’t know the name of the cop. What other person in the country gets the same protection of being accused of a crime and not have the name out in the open? What other public information on the identity of a possible criminal is protected by contract?

There is a sense out there that police are above it all.

This type of incident will not diminish that perception.

While I am against this type of rioting, I keep remembering the riot we all grew up learning about and almost cherishing.

We call that riot “the Boston Massacre.”

  23. Hypothetically if the looters were also armed with tanks, I suppose I could see a point to their use. But a more sensibly armed National Guard response might not be such a bad idea in general.

  24. One thing I know. The police officer (s) involved did not wake up that morning and think “Im going to kill someone for no reason today.”

No doubt that the events leading up to the shooting are confused. The officer may well have panicked and pulled the trigger. Regardless due to the riots the destruction and chaos have affected more than those involved in the shooting.

I can only shake my head in awe of mans cruelty to its self. God have mercy on us all.

  25. That photograph looks like one of the military freight trains, pulled exclusively by Mexican owned and operated NAFTA locomotives, which occasionally pass by our Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, probably enroute to or from the deployment staging area at Camp Shelby, near Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

I’m hoping to record a video for YOU TUBE if I’m ever lucky enough (and well enough) to have my tripod mounted KODAK “EASY SHARE” Z710 digital zoom lens camera set up at just the right time.
