Emily Miller: rabidly anti-gun doctor to be the next U.S. surgeon general

Our favorite journalist, Emily Miller of the Washington Times warns that Dr. Vivek Murthy, President Obama’s nominee for the post of the Surgeon General of the United States is “rabidly anti-gun”;

At a hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee last week, Sen. Lamar Alexander asked Dr. Murthy about public comments on firearms, such as a tweet from before the 2012 president election that said, “Tired of politicians playing politics w/ guns, putting lives at risk b/c they’re scared of NRA. Guns are a health care issue.”

[…]

Dr. Murthy sidestepped the questions about his gun-control agenda from committee members throughout the hearing.

According to Miller former Surgeon General Richard Carmona has written a letter to the president complaining that Murthy is unqualified for the position. But, you know, from an administration that has declared publicly that they intend to sidestep the constitutional protections afforded Americans in general and gun owners specifically, I’m sure the good doctor is wholly qualified for their purposes.

Someone should tell Murthy that the NRA represents it’s millions of members, and that’s who Congress should be afraid of, not some little office across the river from them. Playing politics is nominating someone to a job that’s about the health of Americans, but who intends to use his position to attack the millions of gun owners who won’t surrender their guns to his ideology.

  1. I agree that guns are a health issue. They are a health issue to criminals when in the hands of law abiding citizens and LEOs. As they should be, more often than now.

  2. Well, the current surgeon general is obese. So that’s a plus (I made a resolution to be more positive today).

  3. I, too, am tired of politicians playing politics with guns. My gun is not a risk to anyone’s health unless that person threatens my health. Here ended the lesson.

  4. Murthy has been a doctor for about 8 years. To put this anti-American, British-born piece of shit in charge of US health care policy is an insult to physicians that have spent lifetimes tending to patients. But, hey, Ozero and his fellow Marxists are using Alinsky methods to destroy our institutions and culture.

  5. Can someone please tell me how guns are a health-care issue?

    I was talking to my brother today, and we came up with a good phrase. He had said (in reference to something else, not this topic) that it “was like climbing Everest” talking to a difficult person.

    I said, “no, it’s more like Olympus Mons.” I was referring to the largest mountain known to man, which is on Mars. “You have to be on another world to even think about climbing it.” I feel like that applies to liberals a great deal.

  6. May I do a Vivek-section on this Leftist Libtard? Or did someone else beat me to it? Would that make him (her? it?) another empty suit like Der Leader?

  7. “Dr. Murthy is the 36-year-old president and co-founder of Doctors for America, a group that advocates for Obamacare and gun control laws.”

    That’s scary knowing how the political ‘elite’ like to name their projects with the exact opposite of reality. Affordable Care Act, Patriot Act, Peace-Keeper Missile, News Media Self-regulation Bill of 2013, etc.

  8. So he’s an unprofessional, unqualified quack, bootlicking political hack, and no sane individual would trust him to treat so much as an ingrown toenail? Par for the course since the Glorious Leader’s been in charge…

  9. well, it’s not like he is an inexperienced community organizer who skipped most legislative sessions of his sole terms in any office… what a disaster THAT would be. Oh, wait…

  10. The best criticism of him I have heard is that he has not done one day of public health service. He is basically a community organizer with an MD. And an Obama sycophant.
