Thursday feel good story

WOTN sends us today’s feel good story about a woman in Gwinnett County, GA who stepped from her shower and encountered an Anthony Perkins imitator with a large knife. After a brief struggle the woman fell and injured herself;

Police spokesman Edwin Ritter said, “The male was armed with a kitchen knife, a struggle ensued between the two of them. She fell in the bathtub injuring herself.”

She briefly fought him away with a shower rod, but then he chased her into her bedroom. It was then that the woman grabbed her .22-caliber handgun and shot the intruder nine times, killing him.

The woman is fortunate that she lived in Georgia and not New York where she could only have seven bullets in her magazine.

From 11Alive;

“As of now, this appears to be justifiable use of force,” Ritter said. “The victim is not expected to be charged with anything.”

Ritter said Puentes took off, but only made it to the backyard before he collapsed. He was declared dead at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

The woman was treated for minor injuries, but I guess she’s fine.

  1. Another one less perp that we taxpayers will have to feed, clothe, and house!

  2. You always want to make sure your ventilation is adequate.

If not, get a bigger ventilator.

  3. People who watch ‘Psycho’ need to understand it’s a story, not a documentary.

She only shot him nine times? What restraint!

  4. This may be two years old but…she is still alive and the perp is still dead. Nine shots does show restraint but when you’re frazzled those little bitty .22 shells are hard to handle and reload. That’s why a double take .45 to the center mass and maybe one to the head works better, plus there are rounds left in case they wiggle.

  5. “She shot him 9 times”, why 9?, probably because the gun didn’t hold 10!

  6. See, here’s how I see the nine shots.

    OhShit
    BAMBAMBAM
    Shit
    BAMBAM
    he’s down, I should stop
    BAM
    I’ll stop
    BAM
    I’ll stop now
    BAM
    Ok, I’m stopping.
    BAM
    Ok, I’m done.
    CLICK
    See? I’m done.

In all seriousness, I’m guessing she shot a whole bunch of times and only hit him nine times.

  7. There was a story like this a few months ago where a mother and her two kids retreated to the attic during a home invasion. When the perp tried to get into the attic she emptied a .38 revolver into him. He fled and somehow survived it, though he collapsed and was arrested. It sparked a big debate about ammo capacity on the internet, but my friends and I were arguing mostly about her aim (though she did manage to hit him 5/6).

  8. @13, that was early January. He was sentenced less than three months later to ten years. Good times! I would have loved to investigate that case. quick, easy, righteous.

  9. Uh, Lobster . . . the story Jonn linked in the article above appears to have today’s date. What am I missing?

  10. A triple shot into Center Mass, and a double tap to the head if it’s still twitching afterwards!

  11. But, but Mr. Puente was just doing a job Americans wouldn’t do.

Uh, he was sending money home to Mexico for his family.

Uh, he was just out of jail, was working on his GED and really turning his life around.

Meh. Death is an occupational hazard for these goblins.

  12. the good thing about 22’s,, after you are finished stitching the perps ass a a few times,,,the bastard has a moment of pause too reflect on his nefarious intentions before he bleeds out!

  13. MAJMike, you had the decedents last name correct the first time around. Puentes, Israel Perez.

What I get from the story is this, at the time Mr. Puentes was working on a bachelors degree in Wealth Redistribution Management (WRM) with a double minor in Breaking and Entering(B&E)and Re-enactment of Homicide by Sharp Instrument(RHSI). Upon successful completion of the bachelor and double minor program, he was a number two seed and would have been drafted into the Obama Department of Wealth Redistribution (DoWR) as a rookie field agent with choice of field assignment to any one of the high crimes area’s around Atlanta, Chicago, Miami or even Los Angeles. *sarc off

  14. streetsweeper: thanks – missed the dateline on the second linked story.

Still a great little morality play, though: low-life threatens innocent person with great bodily harm, low-life finds out the hard way he picked the wrong victim, low-life takes eternal dirtnap, victim is not seriously hurt.

  15. Reminds me of one of my favorite Tombstone Boot Hill cemetery headstones:
    “Here lies Lestor Moore
    Four shots from a 44
    No Les, no Moore.”

  16. Not a hell of a lot of .22 handguns hold more than 10 rounds,
so it sounds like she tagged him with at least 90% of the rounds fired. Well done – that is a substantially higher percentage than most police shootings, which any more tend to the “43 rounds fired and the perp was hit twice” variety.
