James Branum – the lawyer of choice for Under the Hood

One of my ninjas dug up some James Branum information that I thought is “news you can use” for potential Conscientious Objectors out there.

Would you hire a lawyer with these ratings from former clients?

Well, Under the Hood Cafe outside the gates of Fort Hood in Killeen, TX think that being disorganized and not servicing clients is a good thing, because he’s cheap;

James provides legal services on a sliding scale. While most lawyers in military law charge high rates, he believes that everyone should have a right to good legal counsel. Although James receives some financial support from Courage to Resist, the Oklahoma Center for Conscience, peace churches, and other fundraising, his philosophy makes James the poorest, most hard-working attorney you are likely to ever meet.

In other words, you get what you pay for. Of course, no one in the UtH really cares that you get tossed in jail, just so long as you give them a bloody shirt to wave.

I don’t know what his conviction rate is now because Branum has a smaller internet presence than he used to when I first started tracking him, but I do know that he used to get 100% of his clients the max time in jail. Then he’d put videos of them nearly in tears on YouTube.

Because of limited resources available to help soldiers, James explains that there is often more work than he can do.

Well, I’m ready to help Branum do a better job for his clients. here’s a hint for his prospective clients; find someone else. John Galligan isn’t doing much for Nidal Hasan these days, so he probably has some free time to take care of your problems.

  1. While I DO NOT RECOMMEND hiring Branum for anything, these ratings are for the bankruptcy lawyer with the last name of Branum who is actually the father of the POS. If you remember, he discussed getting much of his philosophy on the practice of law from working for his father.

  2. “half-way decent discharge”? Would that be the BCD, as opposed to the Dishonorable variety?
    People have to remember that half the lawyers out there graduated in the bottom half of the law school class. Not that that is necessarily bad, the same can be said for Lt’s and Ensigns.
    But, some of the lower half grads manage to distinguish themselves, and cost their clients. Branum seems to be one of that variety. And, “more work than he can do”? Seriously, then refer your clients to a lawyer that can actually do some work on their case, and help them. Or, is it more important to suck the money out of them and then get them jail time? I know, rhetorical question.

  3. Not to sound like a complete asshole, but is IVAW hiring “immigrants” to hold up these signs? Hell does that Mexican guy even know wtf is on the sign?

  4. How many members do this IVAW group have total like 20? Haha They pray on the weak, and exploit the hell out of them. Then when they are done with them, they just throw them to the curb… That is the vibe I get from hearing what all of you say about them. Am I right about my thought?

  5. So, the “immigrant” holding the sign is James Branum, for the ignorant person who made that comment. I’m no Branum fan. He didn’t do anything on a case involving myself and took money that was donated to him to work on my case, and when he heard me telling people this he paid me back. I’m not sure if that was supposed to buy my silence, but I sincerely feel like Branum should be referring his clients to other people if he can’t help them, he is doing people a profound disservice.

  6. Did you get any time to discuss the case with him Sara? Just curious what you thought of him, because I’ve read everything I can on him, and I have to say he seems to not only have no grasp whatsoever of the laws that are applicable, but worse, he seems to want to make martyrs of his clients for more publicity, which only hurts folks more.

  7. After seeing the poser with his hand written sign, and hoodie, and watched all I could stomach of him on a couple of Youtube videos, I can state with certainty, that I wouldn’t trust Branum to try a jay-walking ticket for me.
